Try the drag select option instead of the click option or select subject option.

It also depends on where exactly on the mic you hover your mouse over...

The object selection uses a lot of RAM and dont release it before you close the program. I believe 32GB is more or less what you need to use Object selection with resonable speed.

Unless you disabled paging completely or reduced the size of pagefile.sys, the OS will page out any unused pages from memory, freeing it up for other tasks. Only if Affinity is still accessing tose pages continuously or locked them (which is extremely unlikely) i wouldn’t expect any performance impact.

Processing of the ‘Object Selection’ function has slowed down enormously with version 2.6.0.2900.
This function worked much better in previous versions.
Is this normal?

It's become so slow that if this function remains in the same state, I'll give up using it altogether, because now it wastes far too much of my time.
I don't understand, because this function worked perfectly well with the previous version.

Are you working on Windows or macOS?

I have just carried out some testing on version 2861 which I believe is the version you had before 2900 and I cannot see a difference. 

Could you kindly attach a sample image that you are working with and I can try some comparisons on that.

For what it's worth, I was testing on a 460mb afphoto file that contained a raw file which is 6374 x 9566 RGB 16.

Simply processing this image using the ‘Object Selection’ function is time-consuming, even for such a small file.
Here's what I've seen:
When the function is launched, there is a global analysis of the image, then an ‘Object Selection’ window opens, then freezes, and finally, after a while, there is a ‘scroll’ on this window, which shows that this function is calculating.
It may seem to be a problem with memory management or processor resources, but I didn't have this problem at all before, and it appeared as soon as I updated to the latest version.

PS: The attached image is just an example taken from Pexels or Pixabay.
Please note that the image has been converted to TIFF format.
Perhaps this ‘processing time’ problem is due to the size of the file?

It's true that I hadn't processed any TIFFs for a while, and I had to go back to TIFFs just after upgrading.

PS: I've just tried again with an 8 MB file, and the problem is still the same.

It took 2 minutes and 13 seconds to select just the sky in this image.
If I had used the ‘Selection Brush’, half the time would have been enough to make this selection.

In fact, there's no problem on your side.

Hey JpLaf,

We have identified an issue selecting larger areas of an image. The time it takes seem to have increased into the minutes. We are currently investigating but a bug has been logged.
