pomme27 Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 I asked this question some time ago, but there have been some Affinity Designer updates in the interim so I thought I'd ask again. Is there now a tool in Designer Persona that makes it easier to create the type of curve as shown at the bottom of the word "MOTORCYCLES" in the attached image? Thx. Quote

pomme27 Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 How did you adjust the bottom of the text (to a curve) without altering the top (keeping it straight)? The Warp Group > Arc Horizontal curves both the top and bottom. I can apply a quad mesh and adjust the handles, I guess. Quote

There are several improvements needed for the function, including that, better snapping options, a way to collapse a warp node to a sharp point (like via option-clicking on a node handle for a regular shape vector), & so on. pomme27 Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 OK, got it. Not a big deal. I was just hoping for something more automated, I guess. Thanks all for your help. Quote

Serif staff indicated in the past that warp groups will see more development in the future. My guess is we will see some of it in the 2.2 bety cycle. d. Unless I’m missing something about the requirements, you can bend the bottom of the text by using a Quad Warp Group and then dragging the centre of the bottom of the bounding box – see attached video. 2023-06-03 10-16-12.mp4 Pšenda and Alfred 2 Quote

Not a fan of preset presets, the problem of preset presets presents itself with preset presets not being presented perfectly for ones predilection. The Warp Group > Arc Horizontal curves both the top and bottom. You can grab and drag the bottom line of the Arc to adjust it. That works but annoyingly, dragging the bottom up doesn't support snapping so you have to eyeball it to get a uniform symmetrical mesh. I place a vertical guide in the centre, so I know where to grab. I then place a horizontal guide where I want to release it. And finally just zoom in a lot. 'Tis extremely frustrating that snapping is disabled for this. walt.farrell and R C-R 2 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.
