  1. Well ! i'm back with this other which i believe will help us all. Personally i like the way Serif made it cross-edit between all 3 piece of software but ... because there is always a but ! i Think the way it was and is managed is a bit counter productive or maybe not at its fullness. let me explain ! Here when you have a file opened on APub and want to do some work on it with ADesigner you can Edit with Designer then the whole project is transferred there leaving APub empty of everything but sometime we only want to edit a precise thing such as a smart shape etc... thus making the transfer of the whole project to ADesigner a kind of ... What if Serif could make it possible for us Click on the Object we want to edit and : 1- Right click on it then chose Edit with : Photo or Designer (depending of what we may want to achieve) 2- After selecting the desired object, we can also click the related persona (place where we want to edit) then have that precise thing migrated there for its edit 3- Should be the option we currently have, if we select nothing but click on one of the persona or chose to Edit with ... then whole project get migrated there for its further edit leaving APub Blank. The first 2 options should leave the core project opened in APub then only we should be able to edit the select object then click save to get its edit saved as an update withing the already opened and not closed project withing APub. The we can chose to edit only a part of the project without leaving the main tool we use and see the updates in real-time. Well, more geared peoples can add to this idea and help make this get better. Blessing !
  2. Im not sure how useful or good they are, but I made some vector brushes.. useful for me, and if anyone can use them, here you go :-) i made them for the love of vintage lettering styles, and I use it for backgrounds, like the old Sanborn Maps style.. Anyway, as I’m quite new to brush making, I’m sure they can be improved, and if I do, I’ll update them here :-) hope it it will be useful for some :-) and they can be downloaded from here.. feel free to give feedback.. good or bad is welcome as long as it is constructive:-) 276ccm Vintage Lines.afbrushes

  4. Link to Tutorial: http://hmturnbull.com/writing/fantasy/map-making/introduction/ Description: On my website I'm writing a series of tutorials on how to create a fantasy map using Affinity Designer. I've seen a lot of tutorials for fantasy cartography, but they all seem to focus on either hand-drawn maps or maps made in raster software. Using my method, one can create a fantasy map that will scale infinitely and is easier to edit throughout the process. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to make a versatile map that you can use for stories or role-playing games.

Assets from [Screech] inktober #09 Sharing a selection of vector assets Asset List subCategory List 35 Feathers 8 Fill texture patterns 14 Texture Groups 19 Texture Overlays 11 Trees/partial 13 Leaves 11 shapes Asset Sample Sheets PDF sample Sheet x2 (not all assets displayed) Single asset file with 7 subcategories Samples as displayed (had to change colour of some assets in library as don't display well on grey backgrounds) Also embedded repeating patterns (x2) had to be inserted to assets as group rather than embedded file (which is how I usually use them.) Enjoy! Hope you find them useful Vector Assets 01 01.pdf Vector Assets 01 02.pdf vectorAssets-Screech.zip
  6. Hello everyone, From today i believe i have to start sharing few of our design works (actually i'm working alone but i do build a team from time to time depending on project size ) Most of our client/requesters are Church based and we really enjoy doing stuffs for them but what you will se here is more about Smarty Studio standing with other studio/teams together into what is to become Congolese Design Style. Well each country have it's own style of design but Congo doesn't have a proper thus most of Congolese designers simply clone/copy styles from everywhere. This is a beginning, please your inputs on each design palet/kit will be of great help and will help us improving better. Blessings !
  7. Hello all, I designed a logo and used the outer shadow effect, Radius is set to 0 px. (see picture below) My expectation was, when exporting this to a PDF x4, that this shadow still is a vector element. When zooming in the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat, I can see that the effect was rasterized. In the PDF export preferenced, "Rasterize: Unsupported elements" is activated. Switching this option to "Rasterize: Nothing" will result in a PDF file without any shadow. Is there any way to keep effects as vector elements like in Adobe Illustrator? Thanks for your hints! I'm using Designer 1.6.1 on Mac OS X Regards, Holger
  8. Hi, what are the chances to receive the option to export Vector shapes into Shapes for Apple Motion? This is a option I would love to see, which would push me away further from Adobe Illustrator. We create most of our Logos in Illustrator and run a script to export the vector shapes for Apple Motion. This would be a great feature for motion graphic artist that use Apple Motion! Thanks
  10. I know how to create a raster based brush that can be used in the Vector Persona of Designer for the IPad Pro What I want to do is essentially make a brush out of a vector shape or set of strokes. Is there a way to take a set of individual strokes (see attached image) and make them into a new brush that scales and stretches as I draw? Like a typical vector brush found in Illustrator. I don’t want to have to convert this to a jpg, then slice it, then bring it back in as a New Textured Intensify Brush. Can I make a new custom Solid Brush? I just want a clean black shape exactly like the image attached as a brush. Is that possible? It can be done in .AI no problem. I realize this isn’t .Ai but I was hoping there is a way to do it. Thx. 11. Hi all,I really like Affinity Designer but the more features arrive, the more complicated is becomes.. There is a new challenge for me and Affinity Designer for which I would need your help and ideas: Creating a mermaid digital paper as a seamless repeating pattern. I got an at least basic version of the attached one (no glitter, no lightning etc.) but due to the shadows it wasn't seamless on the vertical. If seamless isn't possible due to the different lightning effects of my sample picture attached, how could I achieve anyway the digital paper mermaid look of my sample? Important: It definitely has to be scalable vector, no copied images etc.. Thanks a lot in advance. I'm looking so forward to your help and your ideas! Foxi
  12. Hey, I want to overlay an image on my business logo. I know how to overlay images on text but how do I do it on a logo? I tried doing it the same way as I do on text, by dragging the image layer that I want to overlay to the text layer. But the image didn't appear on my logo. It just turned a different colour. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  13. I'm currently test driving all of the Affinity products in hopes of leaving Adobe's Creative Cloud, but am coming up just a little short on some key tool necessities. The biggest hole I can see is the ability to distort or free transform vector nodes, whole objects or outlined text (curves). This is a tutorial on creating 'curved' text using 'free transform' tools in Illustrator from 2000: http://www.balloontales.com/curved-type/ Or selective scaling when nodes are selected. Here's an example of the function; keep in mind this isn't about WHAT is being created, it's the 'how'. http://www.balloontales.com/tv-shape-balloon/ Just added functionality to node/vector manipulation and I can then say goodbye to Adobe Illustrator. If these functions already exist, can someone point the way to any related tutorials? Thanks! Good stuff so far; just need a few more tools to be GREAT stuff. G.
  14. Hi guys. I purchased this vector brush pack from the Affinity Store a day or two ago and just now had the chance to play around with it -- and I'm a little confused. When I zoom in on a brush stroke, or when the stroke size is too large, it looks blurry, as if it was a raster brush. Am I doing something wrong here? Are these not vector brushes?
  15. Does Affinity Designer export vectors without rasterizing?
  16. Now that we have reached that point of realization,I believe Affinity Designer (also for Photo) should now have a "Clip to Bellow" or "Clip to Layer" button. It should be located somewhere on the toolbar and should work like this: Select a layer (pixel or vector)/Object (text or shape) then click the "clip to Layer" or "clip to Bellow" to start drawing or painting or doing something else in clipping mask mode straight. Not only Painters, Artist or logo designer will like it but ... It will help work faster and clip very fast. Please also keep the drag to below (that one we currently use to clip things), other style of works may need it still. Blessings !
  17. Hello: I have an existing EPS logo I'm adding to a photo illustration and want to shrink it first, then maybe rasterize it. But when I shrink it, the strokes remain the same thickness and do not scale proportionally. If I were working in Adobe Illustrator, this is a simple preference that can be checked or unchecked. But I can't find any sort of preference like that in Affinity Photo. I tried opening it in Designer, but it similarly didn't have an option to keep strokes the same proportion. So how do I keep the vector strokes the same proportion when scaling? This is one of the MANY frustrations I've had with Photo! While Photo does have easier ways to edit PHOTOS, it's hard for me to use it for GRAPHIC raster-based illustrations the way I did with Photoshop (lack of bitmap mode, lack of raster stroke selection, etc.) Thanks.

  21. Hi, Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I've spent the last few hours trying to find a solution including on here, with no success! I've successfully edited my .svg file to remove the background, and I'm now happy with it. The only problem I can forsee is that the vector lines are still visible and I'm worried about how the image might print. How on earth do I blend the edges so the resulting photo looks smooth? It's especially visible in the top prong of the plug. I've tried blur tools with no success. Is there any way of doing this? Thank you in advance, sorry if it's a simple (stupid) question, I just can't work it out and now my head hurts! uk plug no background.afdesign
