  1. Illustrated maps for village promotion and tourist places. Created in Affinity Designer using vector technique combined with bitmap using Concept Master Vol.1: Nature Brush Pack brushes and those created by myself. So far, for several maps, I have drawn about 200 objects with varying degrees of accuracy.
  2. Hello, I was wondering if within Affinity Designer is there a "Free transform tool" to allow perspective distort with shapes, this is something that can be done within illustrator where you can take two points and can move them together or further apart with equal distance like the example below. You can kinda do this with the "Corner" tool set to straight but this is set to only one angle when perspective distort can change the angle. Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day.
  3. A Stand of Trees Experiment with new Vector Tree Toolkit All Vector 1500 x 600mm 300dpi Created partly from New Tree Toolkit containing 6 vector tree assembled elements and textures as part of the Untamed Project
  4. Hi all, I'm considering buying Designer but one thing that I can't find is if there is a way to fill an object using vector or patterns. I only find gradients and bitmap. I know we can duplicate an object to create hand made pattern but I can't then edit the repetitions like if is a bitmap fill. Cheers, Juan
  5. New in Version 1.2: Tracks Function – Create many types of rotational designs. Routes Selector – You have a choice of the order in which most designs are drawn. Colour Schemes – Seven new schemes. New Shapes – Spikeys, Flowers, Rectelipses (Squircles), Quaternates, and path versions of other shapes. Code Viewer – Improved viewing options. Fields – You can now determine if the shape positions are automatically recalculated. I recently published an update to Canny Vectors which is an application that allows Windows 10 users to create various vector designs that can be used in the Affinity applications – as native Affinity layers – or saved as SVG files to be used anywhere you use SVGs. I had the Affinity applications in mind when I was developing the software but you can probably use the output anywhere that can use an SVG. It is not meant to be the greatest vector application ever, or anything like that; it’s just a small collection of simple tools which might come in useful every now and again and save you a little bit of time here and there. And it's completely free with no ads. At the moment it has five functions: Grids – regular orthogonal grids of shapes; Fields – a collection of randomly placed shapes; Panes – an area covered with randomly altered lines or shapes. Centrics – Create ‘concentric’ shapes, and more. Tracks - Create rotational designs. Each function has various options with which you can vary what the software creates, so there’s lots to experiment with. The application comes with a user guide – written using the Affinity applications – which I have attached to this post: I’ve attached some example images and a video of each function showing just some of what you can do. Please do not make bug reports or make feature requests for this software in these forums; I’m sure the Serif staff don’t want that extra hassle. Use the in-app functionality instead, or you can rate/review the software in the App Store. If you want to make a feature request, please read the notes in Part 8 of the user guide before making the request (some requests/suggestions may be ignored). (You might be able to PM me via the forums as long as the discussion doesn't go on for too long.) If you do use the software, and find some good uses for it, then it might be nice if you could show some examples here for other people to see. You can find and install the software via this link: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9P3H0SH7XK02 Or you can get it via the Microsoft Store here: ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9P3H0SH7XK02 Why not give it a try and see what you can create? 2022-02-27 12-25-52.mp4 2022-02-27 12-30-24.mp4 2022-02-27 12-41-04.mp4 2022-02-27 12-43-22.mp4 2022-02-27 12-47-38.mp4
  6. I have years of experience in graphic design in the areas of marketing and advertising. Doing full illustrations like this isn't something I've done since art school, 20+ years ago. It is very satisfying.
  7. New artwork – a last minute entry for @thetuesdaycollective’s themed challenge of “Pink & Red” over on Instagram. I’ve been getting bogged down in obsessively detailed artwork recently, and so I set myself a challenge of creating a series of pieces in the style of my favourite and most inspirational artists. The idea is to learn how to drastically simplify my work, and learn a wealth of tips and tricks along the way. This piece is in the style of the amazing Mads Berg (if you don’t know his work, you should DEFINITELY check it out), and it’s been really enjoyable to create, and a brilliant learning experience. For example, that lei – at one time I would have felt compelled to create a huge, bushy garland of flowers, each one different, and every single petal individually crafted in vector. It would have taken weeks, I would have been raging throughout, and feeling like I was involved in some sort of technical exercise, rather than feeling the joy of creativity. Fine detail will always have a place in my work, but Mads has taught me that less is definitely more! Anyway, hope you like it!
  8. Currently working on this beast of a piece. Prelim sketch for reference (all characters yet to be added), and video showing detail. IMG_4367.MOV
  9. Currently, if I link a vector PDF, it may come in as rasterised: Changing the settings to interpret, rather than passthrough allows me to get it to display as a vector. However, I would like to also be able to change the resolution the document is rendered in after linking it in. If I change these settings, it scales the document, I would instead like to increase the resolution only, so I can use the passthrough mode. So for instance the 581x652 pixels would be increased/ decreased accordingly. Ideally, I would like a DPI change, but not have my document be scaled.
  10. Fun little caricature inbetween larger projects.
  11. Hello! I don’t know if we’re allowed to promote other websites here, but my new site recently went live, and all works on it were created on Affinity Designer for iPad. Please check it out and let me know your thoughts! http://www.gregsavageart.co.uk
  12. Hi, what are the chances to receive the option to export Vector shapes into Shapes for Apple Motion? This is a option I would love to see, which would push me away further from Adobe Illustrator. We create most of our Logos in Illustrator and run a script to export the vector shapes for Apple Motion. This would be a great feature for motion graphic artist that use Apple Motion! Thanks
  13. Hey guys I just recently made the switch from Adobe ecosystem to Affinity Designer & Photo because i'm not trying to shell out $600 a year for the rest of my life. I'm getting myself adjusted with Designer right now, but i hit a snag. I can't seem to Add/Remove nodes to existing paths like you could in Illustrator. I've tried searching in Help, but nothing comes up. Is this feature not currently available in Designer? If that's the case, then when can we expect this option in a future update? I only ask because it's something I use often. Thanks in advance for your help and time.
  14. Hi, i want to share my latest works. Crown icons. Hope you like it. and also i have timelapse for this design.
  15. Hi! Total beginner to Affinity Designer here (a bit of Photoshop experience in the past). I need some help walking through the steps of converting some handwritten text to a vector(?), and then smoothing out from there. Trying to create a logo! Any help would be much appreciated - I'm lost! Thank you!!
  16. Is there a way to offset the path of an object (to create a new path / object that isn't just a scale of the first object)? Please see attached: Thanks!
  17. I have created some Autotrace vector assets based upon free images and my own images. They are an assorted mixture, but may be useful for some people. The uncompressed file is quite large, so I uploaded a 7z archive. Sample JPG included. SVG Autotrace assets.7z DramaticRail.7z Robin Hood Pathway Trowell.7z Birds.7z
  18. I really need something similar to Illustrator's "Blend" tool where you can have 2 vector options, make a blend, and they set the number of steps and some other properties used to create the individual steps in-between. I don't see anything like this in Affinity Designer, am I just missing something? Thanks.
  19. Another of my occasional movie posters. This one took a bit of redrafting (and rewatching) before it came together.
  20. In Affinity Designer, under the vector persona, on a vector layer, using the vector brush I have the option of using some pencil brushes. Are these truly vector? I draw a line, the line itself is editable but is it truly generating vector texture or applying raster texture to my vector line work? IF say, I want to create hand lettered logos in vector with a realistic pencil texture is this the way to go or will that texture actually be unscalable raster? I’ve tried selecting drawn lines and “creating curve” and “expanding stroke” but either way, it just looks like the texture is not converting to a shape, instead it appears raster... Any insights appreciated! Thank you!
  21. Hi, I am new to Affinity. Please, where are vector/path layers, are they in the same panel as layers?
  22. Is there a way to maintain line integrity when removing nodes in Affinity Designer? Being a Corel Draw user, I've always appreciated the way that Corel will try to maintain the flow of a line when a node is removed. It's handy for smoothing curves and areas where shapes have been joined together. Affinity Designer and Illustrator tend to really lose the shape when a node is removed so I'm always having to manually re-align the curve. Affinity Designer's node editing tools seem pretty basic when compared to Corel Draw and it's not even a recent version of Corel that I'm comparing to. The curve smoothing button has a mind of it's own, that's useless too. I've included some examples to illustrate. If anybody could recommend a solution, I'd be most grateful.
  23. Hello Affinity-users Im using affnity designer for an illustration and clipped a vector shape to anouther vector shape. The problem is, that you can still see a white outline underneath the grey layer, and thats really annoing. Can anyone give me a non-destructive solution to fix this situation (a quick workaround would be nice) >>> you can see the problem in my screenshot Thanks!
