  1. Hello! Apparently there are problems with the fonts management. Text is not represented in the Arial font, but in a special characters font). It is not possible to write a text in the Arial font. It works with other applications (e.g. Word, Photoshop etc.). Also, not all fonts in the font list are displayed - but installed. I hope I'm not the only one with this problems. Specs: - Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 Processor 3.20 GHz - RAM: 8 GB - Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 - Monitor: SyncMaster F2380 (resolution 1920x1080) - Operating system: Windows 7 / 64 bit - Affinity Designer: 1.5.0.5
  2. Hi, I have run into u problem with Titilium font family. The font is free for download here: https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Titillium Titillium works just fine on the same mackbook pro in Pages, Indesign C6 and others, the bug is related just to Affinity Designer 1.5 beta 3. Haven't tried in older versions. There are actually two issues with the family: 1) not all options are listed in font dropdown. I see thin, thin italic, thin upright, but only BOLD is listed instead of BOLD, BOLD ITALIC, BOLD UPRIGHT 2) designer is messing with Titillium typefaces for example with thin version: when thin and thin upright are selected, designer use some italic version (not thin), thin regular is used when thin italic is selected. Quite messy. I have originally thought this would be related to some bug in font, but it works just fine everywhere except to designer :-/
  3. Hi First of all - I'm really, really, really glad to see Affinity on Windows. I think I found a small bug with list of fonts in dropdown menu (screen). In one of my computers I have a very huge list of fonts and it seems a problem for Affinity. As You see there is a lot of empty space on the top of the list (notice scroll widget position). I hope it could help You to improve Affinity.
  4. I have opened and am attempting to edit a .pdf file created outside of Affinity Designer (AD) and change the typeface of content in the file to Myriad Pro. On my computer through FontBook I had 10 Myriad Pro .otf faces enabled: 6 normal width, 4 condensed. Not all faces showed up in the dropdown menu in AD, and they were mislabeled. So, for example to get the normal width bold I had to select condensed width regular italic. My guess as to the problem was that there were too many face options for AD to handle. So I went to FontBook and disabled the condensed face options, as I wasn't planning to use them. After doing this, AD crashes any time I attempt to change a typeface to Myriad Pro. In another forum entry, I became aware of the "reset fonts" button in AD under Preferences>Miscellaneous. Clicking that button does NOT fix the problem. Nor does closing AD and reopening, or creating a new version of the file. CCHDModel-complete-PLv2.afdesign
  5. I'm sure there is a simple answer, but can't find it anywhere: how can I make font size of text inside a group scale proportionally with the group?
  6. Hi guys, New to AD and am struggling with Fonts, I was watching a tutorial and it had a nice font i wanted to use which i couldnt find, then i noted i had different fonts then most videos i have seen. How do I acquire all Fonts? Thank you
  7. Would be nice to be able to adjust the font size with the arrow up/down keys. These keys work for certain things like opacity and color sliders but not font pt size.
  8. Hi there, today I’ve created a simple graphic in Affinitydesigner. But while trying to export the graphic to a pdf (no matter wich pdf-export-preset I’ve chosen) AD crashes. After some tests I realized that AD is not able to export the graphic with a text (it’s only a @-sign) – the graphic without the text eports as expected. Any ideas? greetings Karsten
  9. I was wondering if it was possible to warp text in Designer. I attached an image with what I am trying to accomplish.
  10. I've reported this several times... fonts don't always show up in the font menu. The Rest Fonts button in Preferences doesn't seem to update any fonts after I update my activated fonts using the latest FontExplorer Pro X font manager. Professionals don't use Apple's chinsy FontBook. It's not viable for thousands of fonts. My font library has over 18,000 fonts. Please fix this. This is F U N D A M E N T A L. Just as important as properly working vector path operations (booleans and joining nodes functionality, another basic area needing attention. Please consider a freeze on new feature development until the basics are working properly. It's R E A L L Y frustrating using AD + AP because it's so hit and miss. When it works it's a beautiful experience and the creative flow it enables in unsurpassed  , but the basics are just so inconsistent that working on a long term basis is still a gamble.... sigh...
  11. Would be good if the last used font could be remembered for each session or even just remember it for the user to change. For example when printing a batch of certificates, with just a name change in each one, its necessary to manually replace the font and size between loading documents.
  12. Hi! To start with, I am totally new to this and no basically nothing (besides what I've learned from some video tutorials in the past hour). I am trying to create a post for a website that has it's own title, and I want the title to be in the same family (font and color) as the company's logo. The fonts in the logo are "Bebas Neue" and "AvantGarde Bk BT" but I don't see either of those on the font drop down list. Is there anyway to find them, add them, buy them? Please and thank you, I need all the help I can get! :) -E
  13. Hey guys, Another sore spot to address in the digital design process is the handling of fonts and type selection. It would be awesome if Affinity addressed this part of the workflow with the same level of finesse as the rest of the creative process. Perhaps the addition of a font persona for affinity apps, in various degrees of functionality in each app, similar in some ways to the Export Persona? The basic functionality would entail enabling and disabling fonts, and this would be available for all apps. Deeper functionality for the creation of Font files, could be included in a future release of Designer. Additionally, tools for selecting and previewing fonts/typography can be more deeply integrated into the UI via menus, panels and overlays... 2 more cents...
  14. Is there a way that the text is centered in the Box vertically? Or is it a font problem? See attached image. Thanks J.
  15. Hello. I used AD to draw and slice single glyphs for my new comic book font... regular is done, others (italic, bold, bold ilalic) are still in progress. ... and here is the sampler:
  16. Hi, Just upgraded to OS X 10.11, a complete clean install. I've attached a screenshot of the problem I'm experiencing with Designer. When I select the text tool, next to the size dropdown I should normally get my font but I don't for some reason. I'm using FontExplorer Pro for my font management and have tried with and with it running but that doesn't seem to help. Deleted the preferences for Designer in ~Library/Containers but also not help. I can access fonts through the character palette and the collections that are in Font Book, but that's no use really. Has anyone else seen this? Bert
  17. I am trying to edit an image I worked on. I used some text and would like to try another font however, every time open the original without the text in Affinity it displays the a version with the text I don't want and will not allow me to change the font. How do I go about getting the original image uploaded without interference? Or how do I change the existing font if I can't upload the original image? I've attached the images, one with the text added "The Leader In Handmade Cables" and the original image without.
  18. Hello, I'm really liking the changes made with the now palette versions of the type features, however besides scrolling to find a font, I often know exactly what font I want to use on a project, is there a way to just manually type in the first few characters and have Affinity auto-complete my font choice? I tried double-clicking the font selection field to hopefully activate it to character input mode, but seems the only option is to go through the dropdown menu, and find it not ideal in all instances. Thanks
  19. Hi there, searched the forum for a similar issue, nothing found. I opened an AI file in AD and the Czech CE character (š, ě, ť, č, ř and so on) do not display - the see attached screen shot. In any other program running on my Mac never had and have any problems like that. To be sure, I tried to type these characters in a completely new document - with the same result. I appreciate any ideas, how to solve this or identify its cause.
  20. Band logo, font art, layout … just a crafted font … :) http://b-bertuleit.de/portfolio/digital-art/a-crafted-font/
  21. Hi There, Is there a way to type the first few letters of a font name to search for a font in the Character palette? Cheers Ben
  22. Hi folks, I love the realtime preview of fonts on my text element while hovering the font dropdown. Still, the bounding box of the selected text can be quite obtrusive, specially when dealing with small sizes. This prevent to clearly get an idea of the font look actually displayed. Would be nice to hide the bounding box as you do while picking a color, set a stroke width, etc. for example. Cheers!
  23. Hello Affinity. Allow me to express how enthusiastic and grateful I am for your products. I love that in both Photo and Designer if the user has organized his or her fonts with Font Book then the Character palette allows the user to browse fonts as organized. It is a real time saver. I know that one can see font names displayed in their own font (i.e. wysiwyg) in the font menu, but it would also be great if in the font palette one could see the font displayed wysiwyg as well. Perhaps the name of just the selected font could be displayed under the family pane, in the dead space to the left of the Close button.
  24. It would be awesome to have sliders to control text size more interactively in the menu bar as well as in the Character window. I think a slider would be better and more flexible instead of the current drop-down menu with pint sizes. That goes for Affinity Designer as well as Affinity Photo. Love your products — keep up the great work! Florian
  25. I am in the very early days of using Designer and cannot fathom how I can set preferences permanently. In Illustrator you set it under Illustrator/Preferences but I cannot see a similar option under Affinity Designer/Prefereneces. Every document I will work with will need text as point size (not mm) so how do I permanently set it? The same goes with the document dimensions - I want every document I create to be in mm so how do I do that? Thanks in advance.
