  1. With these simple hatching styles you can hatch your vector objects in Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. Affinity Publisher Beta seems not working yet (previews looks strange on my machine). DOWNLOAD: https://mensch-mesch.com/download/affinity-designer-schraffuren-hatchings/ With the red styles you can easily change the color of the hatching while using an adjusment layer recolor. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  2. Coffee

    Business Card

I did this card in Affinity Publisher but I included the template in Designer as well. Download link is on my behance page along with some specifications: HERE Enjoy!
  3. Since 1.7.0.221 I have problems with charset (description below). My keyboard layout is Swiss French.
  4. Hi all My first attempt at using Publisher Beta Version 1.7.0.206. I needed to create a square image for Instagram to advertise a concert. I had a square image of the church which I imported into publisher. It was rather large so I had to reduce the size by dragging a corner to fit on the page. Although the edges of the image were visible in what I would call the work area around the page the photo's detail was not, which I found strange. The image was too bright to show the white text I wanted to use so I drew a grey rectangle over it and reduced the opacity to 64%. I then used the artistic text to layout the text. I was surprised to find how easy it was to line up the various text sizes. Once I was happy with the text layout I grouped them then used select all and aligned all objects centrally on the page horizontally and vertically. I then exported as a png using selection with background. So my first impressions are that this is excellent software apart from the work area. I need to create a multiple page document to see if its possible to park objects in the work area to move from one page to another. As objects don't seem to be visible in the work area I'm not sure how this would be possible.
  5. Just for fun - and a bit of learning - I decided to try and create a spread from a UK TV listings magazine with Publisher. It's not totally accurate but I'm quite happy with it. It doesn't look much but there was a fair bit of fiddling around - my fault, not the software - to get it looking the way it does. If you have a copy of the actual magazine then please have a look and feel free to pick my rendition apart if you think I've missed something important or made any big mistakes. Some known issues: * The colours used aren't totally accurate but I wasn't really bothered about that; * The typefaces used aren't the real ones but I'm guessing they're bespoke for the magazine; * The bulleted list under "Best Live Sport" isn't right as I can't figure out how to change the bullet size irrespective of text height; * The text was mostly taken from various Lorem Ipsum generators and the rest was just me being silly, so you can ignore it.
  6. I would like to know if it's necessary to convert RGB color images to CMYK in Affinity Publisher before exporting to PDF file... I would like to send PDF files to a digital print shop... Do I need to convert all images used in the publication to CMYK or does Affinity Publisher do the conversion automatically ? or is it done by the RIP application...
  7. I would like Affinity to add the option to be able to scale the glyphs into the Justification palette. This option can be pretty useful when someone is using some justified texts, flush on both side, because it will help to get better white spaces between the words in some difficult situation, as an example with narrow colomns of text. I am sharing with you here some specs I was using with success into some publications, see the joined picture where I placed (in blue) within Affinity Publisher's Justification palette the option I would like to be added. You can see a sample too of a document I created with these specs many years ago. In this sample page the width of the column if not too narrow, but more problems may occurs with the white spaces between the words where someone is using narrow columns where the text is justified, this latter is where the option of scaling the glyphs may come really handy.
  8. I noticed that when you want to create a new document into Affinity Publisher that there is no option to create a bloc zone. This option is important to me, because when I am doing a three-folds folder or more, I want to place my folder's marks inside the bloc zone. As an example, I use to put a bleed of 3.125 mm, plus a bloc zone of 12,7 mm over it. As an example, I saw some design where the folder marks were not perpendicular to get irregular and angled folds, in such a case, it is important to be able to have a bloc zone where to place these folders marks. That said, if Affinity Publisher will eventually integrate an option for the bloc zone, then we should have to an option to include too this bloc zone within the dialogue boxes at the PDF creation time.
  9. Here is a small pocket calendar for 2019 created with Affinity Publisher (primary just made in order to try and play a little bit around with APub table settings etc.). - However maybe somebody has a need for something like this. Note: this example is a business card sized pocket calendar (85 x 55 mm) and the calendar month/day texts are in german here, but all (colors, text etc.) could be easily edited and replaced. pocketcalendar_2019.afpub Have fun!
  10. Here's a simple magazine spread experiment that I was playing around with recently. It's not fantastic, but I like it and it was easy enough to create with Publisher. Text from 'Hipster Ipsum': https://hipsum.co/ Original image from 'Pixabay': https://pixabay.com/en/fashion-lovely-model-charm-woman-3075766/ (edited in GIMP).
  11. Does anyone know how to import Indesign docs from Affinity publisher new beta versión 1.7? I am a profesional publisher with more than 25 years in the fashion magazine printing and I have already passed from Quark X press to In Design, back in the days easily. Now I would be happy to switch, or at least give a serious try into Affinity Publisher (tired of Adobe new way of working) but without this possibility is nearly impossible to switch programs. Could anyone help? All the best Emilio Saliquet Publisher www.vanidad.es
  12. Hello, I confess being a total noob using a desktop publishing software, despite having downloaded Publisher Beta version for ages now :). I just didn't find the time to properly do something with it until now. Topical I guess, I made a template for a 2019 diary (1 week per page) With a master page, and text styles. I purposely didn't add any fancy stuff in it, but I guess not inputting 365+ days by hand will at least be helpful. Decorate it your own way Let me know if you see any mistakes, things that don't look professional, things that should have been done differently. I'm always keen to learn! Diary 2019 Template.afpub
  13. Being my First time on the forum, first off let me say I have been so excited since you first launched publisher have been loving every minute with it. Just my contribution to the beta build, when you open or import a PDF into publisher, I noticed it comes in with a YELLOW HAZE instead of white background as per the original PDF. reason why I bring this up is because Designer and Photo do not have this issue. Your software has become my design staple in my business, thank you,
  14. I want the cells in the table to be divided vertically or diagonally without changing their field. Each cell should be divided into 2 or 3 vs vertically or horizontally. This is of great importance for busy table work.
  15. I just downloaded Affinity Publisher BETA; it was previously unknown to me. So, it's my first day with it. I'm not yet as savvy as some of you, but I did use Serif's previous publisher software (PagePlus X8), so I image my transition should be somewhat easy. Serif does makes intuitive products. First thing I did was I opened a pdf book proof to see if it would have editability in AP. Some of the illustrations opened in full RGB color, but some opened as "negatives." I closed the file, then reopened it - same thing. I closed AP, then reopened it - same thing. Bug, or me?
  16. Hi Affinity Team. Thank you for this program. Looking forward to using it. Do you for see an iPad version of publisher coming out. As Photo and designer are amazing apps on the iPad. keep up the epic work.
  17. Hi, I have just installed a new version of affinity publisher but I cannot open png or jpeg files anu more, the program simply does not see them... I hope it was not the plan, was it? Sincerely, TK
  18. Hi, I want to suggest a feature I think will be great for all of us Affinity users. You see I've been an Astropad user for a while and also use Screens app as well and then I was thinking why no developer has come up with an idea of mirroring an app or remote control an app from a device to a desktop one. I mean having an iPad version and a Desktop Version that basically are not compromised and are in their full potential with just Wifi or Bluetooth or even usb connected whatever you do in your iPad is happening realtime in your desktop app. I'm not talking about watching your desktop app in your iPad as Astropad does (that even working is kind of annoying needing another interface to use your app) I'm talking like controlling your desktop app with your iPad app. 100% accuracy and no extra interface to master a way to get to your goal. Connecting your apps together will revolutionize the industry and I know you are capable of that kind of innovation. Just think about it.
  19. I've decided to test Affinity Publisher in the real world. I own all your current products, Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer and most of your former products; Craftartist , Draw plus, Abby fine reader, Movie, and yes, Serif Page plus X9. I used Serif Page Plus to complete my second picture book. And Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher for my third . You can take a look at the cover on Amazon " Learning Rectangles Side by Side" So far I am very pleased with every product I've ever purchased from Serif and Affinity. Can't wait for Affinity Publisher release. Bravo and thank you
  20. In this Affinity Publisher Tutorial, We going to show you, How to design a Business Card in Affinity Publisher and what is the size of a Business card in MM units of measure. There is no standard for the business card dimensions. Sharing dimensions with other cards makes storage easier, for example, banking cards (85.60 × 53.98 mm) and business cards in Western Europe (85 × 55 mm) have almost the same size. In the design of 85x55mm size, If your image doesn’t bleed then your job just got a little easier. If you are using bleeds, then make sure your design area is set up with a 4 mm margin outside the printable area. so that our text or design in printing not be cut off. I hope you like it.
  21. 1) I would like to be able to Place multiple images with 'Picture Frame' on multiple pages and indicate how many on each page. I guess I can do this with a master page with Picture Frames pre-set but would still have to add each image manually and pre-create pages, unless there is a way to auto add multiple images? i.e. If i have 10 images and want 2 per page (using a master page with 2 frames), I would like to auto add 4 extra pages by drag & drop multiple selected images by dropping in 1st Frame on 1st page. Each new page would adopt the selected master page. With say a text frame under each image on the master page it would be easy to then add the image description or text as required.
  22. I am importing a number of images much larger than work area so I have to re-size a number of times until I can see complete image then move into position. This may be a bug 1) I would like the Drag & Drop to auto size image (on a page with out Picture Frame) as does with 'Place Image' and 'Picture Frame' so it comes inside the bounds of a page with out a frame. Much the same way as Replace image in Picture Frame. Serif PP9 does scale image so you can see the total image if you drag and drop a larger than page image.
  23. Hi there Affinity Team! I know that you say that we are not supposed to work on professional project on Publisher, but I felt confident enough by those amazing products that I gave it a try and the result was just great! they came up just wonderful!! Compete project just using affinity products.... Adobe ... I think it is time to say goodbye!!!!! Thank you Serif!!!
