  1. Does anyone know how to create a custom pixel art brush, with repeating patterns, to simulate dithering? It would be neat to create other pattern brushes too for stars and clouds.
  2. Hi, as a fun exercise I created the Conway's Game of live in Affinity Photo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway's_Game_of_Life It uses black as background/dead cell and white as living cell. GOL.mov The macro does all the steps for one iteration. It has 2 simple steps: Use a custom filter with selected values to have "living" cells within certain grey values use a PT filter to select living cells and make them "white" Ensure you have some spare batteries for the mouse (one click - one step) game of life.afmacro game of live.afphoto

  4. This photo manipulation artwork is "Dreaming Girl & Grandpa Elephant". When I was young, I had a lot of good memories about film camera, so I made this artwork to remember it. "Dreaming Girl & Grandpa Elephant" speed art : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWs6WzBEP0A
  5. I recently sent a JPG file to a friend of mine and he opened the file in Photoshop. The JPG was exported from AP v2.0.4 (Mac Ventura). When he opened the file in Photoshop, it automatically opened the file in Adobe Camera RAW instead of opening it normally, as if the file I sent him was a RAW file instead of a JPG. I tried it myself on another computer I own that has Photoshop installed and got the same result. It launches Adobe Camera RAW, with a lot of crazy slider settings in the Basic Tab. The original file was a RAW DNG file from my Canon DSLR. I processed the original RAW DNG file in AP v2.0.4 (Develop Persona) and I chose to import it into the Photo Persona with the RAW file (linked or embedded, I forget which). I wanted to retain the ability to go back and forth between AP and the Develop Persona so I could make adjustments in the Develop Persona. That all worked fine, as designed. When I exported the file from AP to JPG, I suspect AP must have written something in the metadata so the JPG looks like a RAW file, which is what caused Photoshop to launch Camera Raw. To me, JPG is an industry standard file format and should not look or open as a RAW file in any program (even AP). The original AfPhoto file format is a different matter, since you want to retain that active link to the original raw file (if linked). Is this a bug? If intended, should it be changed? I suspect so. I don't want my JPG files sent to others opening as RAW files. I exported the file from AP to JPG twice, and will attach both files. One has sRGB embedded and the other is Adobe RGB.
  6. Here are some experiments, of varying quality, that I was playing around with at the weekend. Apart from some (modified) background images everything was done in Designer and Photo. They’re not what I would call ‘production ready’ but they’re okay as long as you don’t go looking for problems. (Any resemblance to real movies or organisations is purely accidental.)
  7. You can watch this video below to see how I make this beautiful scenery using these brushes, I hope you enjoy this video, thank you!! - Beautiful Landscape Brush Package Download Link: https://krisna0.gumroad.com/l/tbqwj
  8. I've already seen other bug reports about the transform origin (so I think this is related and you already know), but none on Windows or reporting specifically this. I've met this bug both on Photo and Publisher. Right after resizing an object (be it a vector shape, a pixel layer or a placed image), the transform origin starts to be affected by a fixed offset that makes impossible to put it where you need. I can't screen record my pc now, but it's really that easy to reproduce. To workaround it you need to unselect and reselect the object again. Then the origin point starts to behave properly until a new resize will make it go crazy again. Affinity 2.0.4 on a Windows 10 machine
  9. Hi all, I hope that you're well. In Affinity photo 2 under the account menu (top right) there is a 'recent' section. It's in the same menu list as 'account', 'open' etc. I have 'recents' turned off generically on my Mac, yet recently opened files still appear here. How to I turn that off so that files never appear here? Many thanks. Paul
  10. Hi All. I'll be 76y/o in a few weeks (April 2023), so no spring chicken! Art has always been a self-schooled, serious hobby for me, working with colour pencils, water colour, water colour airbrush and oils. I have been comfortable doing fairly basic photo manipulation in PhotoShop for years, but dumped them for Affinity when they went subscription - and don't miss them one bit! So ... I thought, Why not give digital art a go with this wonderful new suite! Eighteen months in and - from absolutely nowhere - I have illustrated three children's picture books for two different authors. All have been granted Mom's Choice Awards, Honouring Excellence on all three and I'm working on a fourth as I write. I love working digitally. I'm a huge fan of illustrations by Beatrix Potter and I like to think my work is in that vein with a modern twist. I have attached a few favourites here. All created entirely in Affinity Photo ... Enjoy!

  12. Hi, In this Affinity Photo tutorial, I show how to photograph high-rise buildings at night that you can't otherwise capture. They are put together with panorama stitching and then the photo edit will follow. Ciao Jack
  13. Hi, It would be great if Affinity Photo would support mock-ups better, and have a content -aware fill option.
  14. Been reading Spy X Family lately and ended up loving it. Just wanted to make a fun little drawing of the cutest character in the manga, Anya. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/aYgyGq
  15. Greetings to All, Here is a picture of the moon to be included in my montage of moon phase images in colour. This image is short listed to be included in my montage of moon phase images in colour. All image processing was done in Affinity Photo (excellent program!) For those who are interested: The colour saturation was obtained in a 5 stage process (5 adjustment layers) of gradually increasing levels of colour saturation. This colour saturation process will amplify colour noise so one must start with a "low noise image. The low noise image was obtained by stacking 15 images (noise averaging - Greek letter Mu) to give about 4x improvement. For crescent images we might try stacking 25 images for an improvement of x5. I am trying to find a logical explanation for the green light over the craters. Regards, Jeremy.
  16. Hi I have a feature request for a gradient tool to be added to Pixel persona or Affinity photo. Attached I show you how this tool could work. Adding multiple gradients on a pixel layer. Before I switched to Affinity, I used this tool all the time. I miss it a lot. It would be very nice if you could add this feature. Happy new year 😊 Best regards Gradienttool.mkv
  17. Small thing, but it bugs me: how can I get predictable results when I want to apply a precise pattern pixel size? For example, if I create a square pattern and set it to 50 pixels, and enable a 50-pixel basic grid, the pattern must be just a sliver larger than because the pattern and the grid do not stay in alignment - the pattern appears to be ever so slightly larger over the course of a few dozen grid lines. Is there some trick where I have to adjust the file settings (resolution?) to get these to cooperate? Is this a bug?
  18. Watch this movie. I am actually typing in 500. Doesn't happen every time but enough that I could get a screen recording. Untitled.mov
  19. Hi, what is the best way to convert rgb images to cmyk for print with Affinity Photo? Thanks
  20. Currently, when I add a (child) adjustment layer, it appears in a collapsed position. I would like to add an adjustment layer in expanded position automatically. AP2 Thank you.
  21. AF Photo crashes when using NIK plug-ins. Problem shows when I am using and manipulating control points in the NIK plug-in. It is most common when using the Dfine 2 plug-in, but can happen with other plug-ins as well. The crash does not produce a debug file, nor is there any restore point. After multiple crashes, I've given up and reverted to using an old version of Photoshop to get the work done. Version: 1.9.1.179 Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2 Installed on ‎2020-‎08-‎01 OS build 19042.804 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0 Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, Driver 457.51 Crash occurs when Hardware Acceleration is either on or off. I've tried both. Plug-in image window functions in a more stable manner when hardware acceleration is off.
  22. Here is a version of a Visual Shortcuts Explorer for all Affinity Tools, which can show up the Affinity Designer + Affinity Photo + Affinity Publisher v.1.10.5 keyboard shortcuts for Win/Mac (in English or German language), on different choosable localized keyboard layouts. AffinityKeybMapper_Capture.mp4 This is the corresponding AffinityShortcutMapper_v1.10.5.zip archive: AffinityShortcutMapper_v1.10.5.zip To use it, extract the compressed archive and navigate into the "/AffinityShortcutMapper" folder, there open the HTML page index.html locally in your default or prefered web browser and start exploring the various shortcuts! IMPORTANT NOTE: Please read the in this distribution supplied readme.txt file, in order to understand how to setup/configure/enable for a webbrowser then local file:// access rights for running the AffinityShortcutMapper locally without a static HTTP server! - For the Chrome web browser you might try instead to locally launch Chrome the below shown way (due to it's default security settings) in order to allow file:// protocol access for it ... > "C:\PathTo\Chrome.exe" --allow-file-access-from-files For Firefox setup see the distributions supplied readme.txt file! - Though the overall recommended way is to run the AffinityShortcutMapper via a http-server! See also this related posting for a ADe standalone version!

  24. Hello. I would like to ask why does the application need to record my computer screen? At first it seems to me a serious privacy problem, but I want to ask in case I am wrong. Thank you so much.
