Hi there, this may be less of a bug but a hardware problem but I want to mention it anyway. With Affinity Photo 1.9, exporting an image seems to be incredibly slow with liquify masks applied. The two devices I have and I have tried with are: iMac mid2011 21" quad 2,5GHz i5 16GB RAM with High Sierra 10.13.6 (yes, its incredibly old and I am working on replacing it. But its still my main device for now and it runs incredibly smooth with everything). MacBook Pro start2015 13" dual2,9GHz i5 8GB RAM with Catalina 10.15.7 (not really a workhorse but my little pal in the field). Exporting images without liquify masks is still fast as ever but as soon the smallest change with a liquify mask is applied the CPU runs on max for two or three minutes to export the image. Does someone else has experienced the same? Since its a very new feature I do somewhat hope that there is a more efficient way to implement that feature without requiring unusual more hardware specs.

Hey guys, im new to affinity photo and graphic design in general. So ive made a pentool curve, the i "masked to below" to an image below. Then i want to create a hole in that mask so more parts of the image i masked is shown. Is that possible? also if it is, how do i do it on texts? Thanks -

Big learning curve: how to organise elements, color choosing, pentool in Designer and drawing excersize. And a big thank you to Stuart RC for all his contributions to this forum. As you can see, I used a lot of assets and his latest Dinosaur brushes, Poison brushes en vegetation brushes. It helps to look at the brushes how they are developed, it helps to look at the assets of leaves and plants and how they are build up. One day I can do it myself, but for now, I am using Stuarts Designs. So again, THANKS. Mostly done in Designer with Vectors. But the final touches are done in Photo. Yolanda

Finally, all the albino brain chiggers are gone (we had about 14" - 18" of that white junk fall here in southeast Arkansas last week) and it's safe to go outside again. The only positive about the whole mess was I got to stand in the doorway and watch the birds and squirrels consuming what we put out for them. Since I won't venture out far in that stuff, the "goodies" were near my front door. Got some interesting images processed in Affinity Photo.

Hello folks, My name is Dennis. I created this pixelated self-portrait a few days ago. Started it in Dottable, a pixel-art app on a mobile phone, then traced it in Affinity Designer with the grid snap feature. Then I added a few grunge textures over masked areas, imported it into Affinity Photo, and finished it off with LUT filters and monochrome noise for a subtle paper-like feel. I like how precisely the applications work together and that you can add pixel-based textures directly in Affinity Designer without having to change the application, it integrates very fluidly into the workflow. I have a duplicate Brush Category that was created before 1.9. There is no Delete Category in the menu, only Unstall Pack… and the Brush Category is not listed in my purchases. How can I remove the duplicate Brush Category?

In Photo I have an image made up of layers. I wish to cut out and export part of it as a jpg. My preference is to use the shape tool. What is the process for this? Thanks -

I've just been following James Ritson's video on the new Divide Blend Mode. Worked wonderfully until I reached the Lighting Live Filter; Divide Blend Mode element. Screen shot to illustrate the issue. And I tried with and without hardware acceleration in Preferences. No other applications open except YouTube Windows 10 Home: processor Intel Core i7-8700; 16.0 GB; Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Hi Serif Team, This is unfortunate and highly annoying at the same time that the latest version of Affinity Photo (1.9) is crashing frequently and unpredictably. I don't know about others but this is highly frustrating as I was very confident till Version 1.8. (It was faster too) "Stability" is now a serious issue and thus I can only suggest the Serif Team to look into this matter and resolve at the earliest lest it would mar their reputation. Best wishes.

Affinity Photo froze up on me, while I was in the middle of adding a selected asset, into one of my of asset categories. I manually closed out Affinity Photo - upon return - my asset studio no longer had my 70 categories. (I’ve encountered this freeze issue many times before, where I would manually close out the app - but it never deleted ALL of my Assets 😢) I always back up my assets into iCloud, so their safe. What sucks balls - is that I have to manually import them one at a time. 70 damned times. Which is strange for these futuristic devices. Doing things one at a time, instead of mass batch importing. How we in the future - but backwards at the same time? Anyways... During this little adventure, I also came into the realization... it took Affinity Photo upwards 4-5 minutes to import one of my 182mb Asset Categories. (I have many categories beyond this small size - Will they take 20 minutes each? Scary thought!) At first, I thought Affinity Photo was refusing to import my category because of it’s 182mb file size. I was on the verge of bringing it up in this thread, then as I’m typing in this thread, I went back into Affinity Photo to reference something.. this was about 4-5 minutes after I tried importing the 182mb file, upon going back into Affinity Photo, there it was (the 182mb assets) chilling in my Asset Studio, all smug, like it was there all along. I am posting this experience, to ask... are there any bugs with Asset Studio as of the recent release iOS 14.3 update? Anybody else experiencing this? -

Hello! I couldn't find anything regarding this and I need some help. I'm on a mac and recently updated photo to 1.9. When using the move tool with a mouse to move the object, it gets blurred out whereas when i move it using the arrow keys, it keeps the sharpness. I've attached a pic as an example of what's happening, I'm not sure if it's a bug but I don't recall it happening in the previous version I had (1.8.4) I used tones to try and show it more clearly. Thank you in advance! Edit* to the mods approving this, I found the solution! for some reason, the forced pixel alignment was turned off. Please disregard!

I have a file that I made today that appears relatively small in size (435KB) but that I am no longer able to open. What steps should I take to troubleshoot? The file does contain lots of layers with the 3D layer effect applied, two vector masks and 9 linked files, each 150KB or smaller each but placed many times in the main file. I am attaching an image that contains the details about my Mac System. I'm currently using Affinity Photo 1.9.0 I have also tried opening the file in Affinity Designer with no positive results of it opening the file. I am able to open other files I built today in Affinity Photo, including the linked files I placed in my main file. Steps I'm taking to try an open the main file: Launch Affinity Photo abd see the interface > Select Open > Select my main file (linked files are in the same folder) after a minute I can begin to hear the fan kick in on the computer and then see the rainbow spinner appear. I have waited up to 20 minutes and still the file does not open so I then force quite the app closed I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance. - Scott

I just paid for affinity photo in app store, but it does not download it to my computer, which is a Macbook air. I have tried to Restart the computer / emptied space / closed / opened the app store. but still does not work! What should I do? There is this grey circle turning but in the end it stops.

These are designs I created in Affinity Designer and Photo. Inspired by 70's Anarcho punk band Crass from the UK. I am using these for my attempt project called PIPE BOMB MEDIA. I'm the guy sitting in the "I'm Already Dead" image, I am also using the pseudonym "Manifest Destiny" for this project. I am a really big fan of this style and minimalism in general.

Hello, I have encountered with several different small/tiny icons: -Eyedropper in toolbar -Switch color (in all places) -Change color to translucent (in all places) MacOS 10.15.5 (19F101) Affinity Photo 1.9.0 Note, as I understand, Eyedropper is fixed in beta, not sure how it is about the other icons. I am attaching screenshot.

Not a biggie, but a slight annoyance. My Freehand Selection Tool cursor icon keeps getting stuck on either the "View Tool" or "Move Tool" icons. Sometimes it starts with the usual Freehand Slection icon, but if I switch between tools the icon doesn't change back. I can still make selections as usual, but since the View Tool icon (hand) is quite bulky it can be quite tricky to make accurate selections as I can't see exactly which point the cursor is selecting from. v 1.9.0.932 is crashing a lot guys. Mostly noticed when using clone, patch or simply erasing. Resizing an object too. Much less stable now. Having to save after pretty much every step as I don't know when it's going to lock up. Occasionally it recovers the files on reopening, mostly it doesn't and the program simply disappears from screen. Using Windows 10 (build 19041.804) Intel i5 9600k on board Intel UHD Graphics 630 (Coffee Lake-S GT2)- and 16GB DDR4-2666 / PC4-21300 DDR4 SDRAM UDIMM Previous version was stable. This is pretty unusable and doesn't seem to be generating any crash report files
