  1. Almost fun to create this one if it wasn't for some program bugs and refreshing issues. Is anyone else out there having problems with slow refresh rates on their mac? I have some FXs going on but I can't imaging it would slow things down so much.
  2. When editing a document on 2 machines, it would be nice to have an option to embed all used fonts into the document or a function which collects all related files into a single folder to give them along with the document. -- Harald
  3. Hi all, Is it any option to transform a picture from JPG to SVG in Affinity Designer? I don't see any option at Tool Panel. Thank you. Laura
  4. Hi, new to affinity designer. Here are some fly fishing reels I built, looking to push them farther any feedback appreciated. Thanks
  5. A children's book style image using textured strokes in Affinity Designer
  6. I want to fill in the blank part and create one under the arrow. In Photoshop I'd just select 1 pixel and use free-transform to drag the line out to fill the gap. There's no free-transform tool in AD that I can see, so what am I meant to do? /EDIT I already know I could use a vector curve to do this
  7. Been asked to do a pumpkin for a Halloween gig so thought I'd have a crack at doing one all vector:
  8. i want to select all text wich is different layers and not select blue background, so basicly i need freeze background from selection, right now when i start selection with mouse rectangle i click on background and move it
  9. Here's a silly bit of nostalgia for those in the UK of a certain "vintage". (All done in AD.) I think I've managed to get the screen reflection and graininess of an old TV about right but it's just a bit of fun. Time to get a cold can of Quatro out of the fridge and sit back to watch The Gaffer on TV.
  10. Affinity Designer vector illustration of my daughter at 19-days old. No pixels or vector brushes used here, just good old fashioned strokes and filled paths. Masks, transparency tool, layer FX and blend modes used where needed and a couple of adjustment layers to tweak the colours at the end. I'd guess there's around 2,000 elements make up this image - around 500 are individually positioned head hairs, and many of the individual wool strands are actually three strokes twisted together too which ups the object count. With all the blurs and depth of field stuff, it nearly kills my MacBook and takes a good 20+ seconds for the screen to redraw after every zoom or edit on high quality view settings - spent a lot of time in wireframe and low quality mode at the end. When I get a faster Mac, I'd like to add some of the less important detail that's missing to make it more convincing (e.g. the almost invisible eyebrow hairs, more detail to eyes etc.) and tweak some of the bits that are annoying me. No idea how long it took as I've been working on it on and off in my spare time (which is practically non-existent with a baby) since December - I'd estimate 30-50 hours. Anyway, hope you like it!
  11. Captain Noise character I originally came up with for Nottinghams NLC charity festival
  12. Many time I close my laptop lid and open it again I find Affinity Designer with a black background. It appears as though it has had some sort of display glitch. I can't remove it unless I restart the program. Any solutions out there? See picture for example.
  13. Super quick re-creation of a direct mail valentines card I designed a few years back which was originally done all in InDesign as vector artwork using blurs and bevels - the chocolate heart text was set up as variable data and output 10up on an SRA3 sheet and run to a Xerox digital press - the choc text was originally smaller to accommodate longer names from the database - worked a treat
  14. Thought I'd have a mess about with distressed vector textures which ended up as this apple
  15. Just done this T-shirt / DVD cover design for Punk band DIRT BOX DISCO - all vector
  16. Sorry if one just past so this question is ignorant, just wondering if there will be able sales on Affinity Designer soon? I already have it for Windows and definitely do not regret it, but I would also like to buy it on mac so I can use it on my school laptop. I know $50 isn't that much to begin with, just wondering if there are any sales around the corner I should know about before I pay full price.
  17. It would be great to occasionally do some inpainting or blemish removal of an image I have in Designer. Yes I do know that I have a full set of tools in Photo, but sometimes I just need to make a slight correction and it doesn't warrant this round trip.
  18. Hi, does anyone have any tips or examples for creating 3D modeling in a gaming aspect?
  19. Inspired by the magnificent Joan Holloway character in Madmen, played by Christina Hendricks. Affinity Designer. I'm still getting to grips with some of the features. I started using the Vector Brush Tool (to make those silhouettes of the passers-by. I like the way it seems to auto-smooth the line, which is a feature I'd really like. Really well done to you people at Serif for making a full-on professional tool. I have no qualms about using this for client-work.
  20. In this tutorial I will show you how to create a neon sign with Affinity Designer 1.5.5. You can download the brick wall seamless repeating pattern from the tutorial, which was made with Affinity Photo, here and use it for free in your own projects: https://goo.gl/nYw8Lz You will find the tutorial here. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  21. In this tutorial I'm gonna show you how to create an Ivy vector textured image brush in Affinity Designer with support of Affinity Photo in image processing. Link to the tutorial on YouTube You can download the Ivy vector brush from the tutorial here. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  22. I know that Adobe Illustrator can work as an alternative to page layout software such as InDesign. Can AD also work as an alternative? Thank you
  23. I originally did this in Illustrator but it was missing something and needed more work so spent the last few days redoing it in AD although I did use the main underlying shapes, seemed pointless doing those again. It's a good improvement on the original. Being so long and thin it loses a lot of detail at low res even on the close up though.
  24. Select a path, click on "magnetise" and as long as "magnetise" is enabled, the set origin point (Transform Panel) will stick to the path. Example: You want to align a lot of elements in a perfect circle (or other shape). You create a shape, magnetise it. Then select the group of elements you want to align. Set their origin point where you want them to snap and drag them across the circle. They snap into place. Now distribute vertically and horizontally and they distribute while sliding along the shape's path. A "distribute on shape" would be great too, it poses a problem with complex shapes though. Maybe a "user do you know what you're doing?" warning would be sufficient there.
