  1. Is there a simple way to convert circular curves into actual circles? I have an image with a lot of circles (visually) which are technically just curves. And I want to export this as SVG. Curves are converted to SVG paths and are much more elaborate (in terms of code) than circles, so I could have a much smaller file size if the circles would be exported as circles instead of paths. However, for that I need actual circle shapes in AD, so ideally I’d need some way to convert these curves to circles.
  2. An artistically stylized vector character design. Hope you like it.
  3. Hi guys, I've recently completed this new artwork using all vectors. The challenge had been to avoid 3D modelling while reaching a similar effect with the power of lights inside Affinity Designer. I used Affinity Photo only to apply the light effect on the in-graphics vintage poster, simulating a rudimental light from up left corner. Hope you appreciate.
  4. General Mayhem — cartoony vector character design and illustration. Hope you like it.
  5. Just recently completed another fun project using Designer exclusively. I had this concept for a Madame Butterfly opera poster for awhile but really didn't feel like my previous app was up to it so I put it on the shelf until a few months back when I decided to tackle it in Designer. The look and feel I was shooting for was sort of like those rich coloured album cover airbrushed illustrations from the 70's and 80's. Where everything is soft and saturated. I was really pleased with the outcome and glad that I waited to do this in Designer. Below are some screenshots, with more on my Behance site and there's also a short tutorial just uploaded by Affinity's Andy Capstick on the new Affinity Spotlight blog specifically on the creation of the eyes for this piece. Hope you like! https://affinityspotlight.com/article/the-eyes-of-a-butterfly-with-kevin-house/
  6. Ok so I am new to Affinity Designer and have been working with it for a little over a week. Maybe I am missing something obvious, but is there a way to edit the flow while using the vector brush tool? I'd like to lessen the flow with the strokes I am using. Thanks in advance for you help.
  7. Why are you developing Affinity Designer so slowly? You have created a terrific application, but do not hurry to develop it( You do a lot of new things because you do not have a subscription and you need to make money on new products but please do not forget to pump Affinity Designer. Thank you for your attention and for the incredible cool app AD and AP)
  8. Or most things starting with V! Bit of a doodle, I was going to have it as a solid pattern but liked the look of sort of capping the top and bottom and leaving some background.
  9. I wasn't in the mood to do any proper work this evening so was messing around and tried emulating quilling in AD with the letter A. As it was trying to copy hand curled paper it also meant I didn't have to get the curves or spirals perfect.
  10. A storm trooper study where I tried to give it a photorealistic touch. Upper half is finished, lower half is still 2d flat. It takes some time. Hope you get inspired nevertheless.
  11. I recently brought Ultimate Map Pack: Global from metgraphics.net and upon zooming in it gets distorted. The creator of these maps says it is the lack of smart-scaling in the Affinity products. Because of this I cannot zoom into the area I require. Is there a way round this/am I missing something? Please help!!
  12. Hi, I used to use Adobe Illustrator but then I found Affinity Designer and I start to use it. I do all kind of illustrations which can print to t-shirts and all kind graphic design to my customers too. I do love to draw car illustrations and here are my works: https://automobile-t-shirts.blogspot.com/ My older car illustration is made with Illustrator, but about 2 years I have used only Affinity designer. Here are some cars which are made using AD: Opel Kadett B Opel Manta A Peugeot 206 Peugeot 205 (cornering ones) Citroën BX (cornering) Citroën GS Citroën XM Triumph Dolomite Renault Clio Saab 900 (NG900) I have also updated some of my older design by Affinity Designer which I made originally by Illustration (.ai) and it has happened without any problem.
  13. Need to buy affinity photo and designer. Are there any distributors in india to buy it??
  14. Tribute to Elon Musk's inspiring SpaceX corporation, in a retro-futuristic poster style. Hope you like it.
  15. Redesign concept of the Steam client. This concept aims to make the navigation of the app more intuitive and giving it a clean, smooth, more visual appealing design overall. More screens will follow in the future. What do you guys think? Feel free to follow me on: Dribbble Behance Twitter silentandclear.com (revised version of Original project)
  16. I'm working on creating my own game in Unity and I've updated one of my old hand drawings of the leading character with AD. Looks good AD and it took a bit of getting uses too after using Photoshop. Still in progress, want to add shading and the finer details. First drawing is the hand drawn one, and the second is the work in progress in AD. I also used AP with an Apple iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil to sketch some of the new elements first before adding them to the image in AD.
  17. Hi, I'm pleased to announce that I reinitiated a former activity of mine — training people to learn or improve a visual skill, 2D and/or 3D. Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo are the 2D editors I'm using in my workshops. A training takes place in the Netherlands, in my studio or on location, so it will be mostly interesting for Dutch and Flemish people. More info can be found on my site: metinseven.com Regards, — Metin
  18. This video is an excerpt from my -soon to be launched- "Learn Affinity Designer Fast" e-course. The most complete and comprehensive course on Affinity Designer. In this video I'll show you how to customize the object defaults, which allows you to set the fill color, gradient, opacity and noise values. You can also set all of the variables for the stroke, including color, gradient, opacity, noise, style, width, cap, join, alignment, draw behind, scale with object, and pressure curve values. This includes using a brush stroke! Being able to set the defaults for your objects whether it is just for that document or globally for future documents, is a great time saver. Your workflow will be come more efficient and your creative juices can flow freely without getting bogged down in the details. Setting defaults is a great web design tool for all you app creators out there. Enjoy and happy creating! Jen
  19. Hello... I know that y'all are working in the road map, and one of the features asked (trace bitmap).. Here I will give y'all a image that I would like that the quality of this be so good that can convert kind of this images... you can select another for examples... but I know that That one is pretty difficult. I tried different software and cannot give good result... Hope you can do better. Here is the image. Be creative in add tools for do this kind of stuff. I will love more affinity, I love it right now but I will love more with this and I know that many peoples too... Many software are not so good tracing small lines or objects... and cannot give smooth results in pretty curves. what y'all think. Thanks!
  20. Work in progress. First vector painting created in Affinity Designer. Tried to see if all that could be done in photo editors could also be done in a vector drawing program. Size painting is 80 cm tall. It includes entire physique. So far most of the head (skull) is drawn. Progress sequence in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.nl/2018/05/vector-painting-crossing-deaths-frontier.html Update June 1 2018: =================================================================================================
  21. Hi all Affinity-leaning creative types, here's a recent cover piece completed for a Canadian magazine entitled Aboriginal Business Quarterly based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The theme of this Spring 2018 issue is Transportation and Infrastructure in Northern Canada. The snow and ice are finally melting, making way for a busy season of road work/maintenance and resupply shipping - by boat and float planes equipped with skis - supporting various remote communities and industries. It's another example of my Affinity Designer isometric styled compositions built up using a limited colour palette, simplified elements and extensive use of gradients... And of course the awesome isometric grid feature. For those interested, there are more views of this piece on my Behance site. Hope you like. :-) https://www.behance.net/gallery/65266715/Aboriginal-Business-Quarterly-Cover-Affinity-Designer
  22. Hi, I'm new to this community but wanted to say I'm really enjoying Affinity Designer as an alternative Professional Vector Graphics Software. So much so, that I've started sharing my knowledge using Affinity via Skillshares platform. Looking forward to learning from others here in this community too. I created a Skillshare class called "From Screen to Print: A Simple Colour System" If you are preparing artwork for a commercial print house this class will help get your colours right between screens, print devices and paper stocks. I also show you other helpful tips including global colours in Affinity Designer. Here is the link: https://skl.sh/2Iutp0r You can use this link to sign up for two free months of Skillshare Premium and watch my classes for free. I hope you find it helpful.
  23. Hi; I hope no-one minds if I ask advice while also sharing... I created this 4096x2160;16bit;P3 file as part of a series of test images for checking a cinema auditorium. Obviously, it is using cone gradients of the primary and secondary colors, then flipping them around to meet up in a pattern. One major problem that I have had is getting each 1000x1000 square to exactly butt up against each other without leaving a fine (fine, fine, fine) line between them. It shows on the ADesigner screen image and shows up in the TIFF image (12-bit TIFF is what is required for the transfer to a cinema projector file.) I have spent hours (iMac with 5k screen) futzing and finally came up with the technique of putting a strip of color behind the two blocks and applying a gradient to that (not perfect perfect, but pretty close.) I found that by laboriously going to each block and instead of leaving the "transform" numbers as they are, that if I go through each one and put in a bunch of zeros after the number that the blocks gets closer to being perfectly together. In other words, instead of X position of 48 I type in 48,00000000 or for W and H of 1000 I type in 1000,0000000000 ... and also very importantly for R, 90 must be 90,000000000 – I just put in an arbitrary number of zeros, but it seems to straiten out. Now, maybe I didn't have 'whole numbers' turned on early in the process, and that would have solved the issue. I tried that later and it doesn't seem to always help – and things seem to shift (dither between ± points) if I don't give it the precision of the added zeros. I'd just like to hear from others as to whether this has come up with you before (or if I am the only psychotic doing things where this matters?)? Also, what I am learning today and what I originally came to the forum for, is if there is a way to add exif data within Designer? Anyway, thanks! Good luck to us all... 24. I know this question has been asked for Affinity Photo and people actually could, but I'm wondering if there is any way we could use them in Affinity Designer too? I'm asking specifically because I have an icon program that I use in photoshop (https://iconscout.com/icondrop/for-office) which I'm hoping I could use with affinity designer as their native windows app is still under development.
