+1 A preview in the export dialog or in the Export Persona is really required for professional use.
+1 The preview for exporting thumbnails for the web is absolutely NECESARY.
 
THIS FUNCTION IS IMPORTANT

I'm quite worried that this won't get into Affinity anytime soon.
 
These requests, especially about PNG / Diffusion / 8-bit / Alpha / Anti-aliasing started around 2015 and still no single feature has been implemented to get on par with the current PNG/save and preview options, some that are in PS for years now.
 
I truly hope that the PNG-8 optimization gets into Affinity ASAP, because this is one the biggest deal-breakers for me. (working with web-graphics)

The hottest photo retouching and compositing app on the iPad gets hotter! Nice to see this extensive update introduced so close to the iOS 11 update! I dropped Photoshop after more than 20 years after trying Affinity Photo on the iPad and Mac. Adobe still makes great software (still using After Effects regularly), but I like the approach Affinity took on the iPad vs. Adobe. Also, I'm saving a whole lot in monthly subscripiton fees.

yeah, I need an “affinity” director in the “on my ipad” root location too ... LOL.

Please implement this feature,  I think it would really improve the overall usability of the app even more.  And you should be able to drag the photo straight out of the export screen in into other apps.

I am wondering if the current Affinity Photo app does not have the correct API implemented to view files natively in iOS 11's new files app. I know some apps have been updated to iOS 11 and have included the new API.
 
I have noticed that other apps that have a File Explorer feature are being updated to include files viewable via the new Files app on iOS 11. There are 2 different implementations I have seen so far, 1st: the app just lists the Service on the side and when tapping on the service to view files, brings up a pop up over the Files app. 2nd: the app updated their API to have files viewable in the files app native, and not a popup.
 
I have included some screenshots that may help explain what I am talking about.
 
I hope we can get native file viewing or file management with the new files app.

and suddenly no more Import from Dropbox possible!
File selection works but then no import!

When you just updated this is no longer called a beta. It is with nearly 2 GByte the so called "Golden Master".
Unless some heavy bugs are found in the next couple of days this will be the release version.
 
So now the developers of every app that is not working as intended can go to work.
If the "locations"-button on the file-export-dialog is left out by accident or by intention this should be clarified with Apple.
Just my 2 cents
 
The latest update from today of the Dropbox-App (reading full support for iOS 11) doesn't help with the import problem either.
As the file selector box disappears with reading "loading" and AP is not importing, imho the fault lays here by AP.

Are you trying to opening a PSD file? If so go to Affinity Preferences and check if you have Import PSD text as text (not pixel layers) enabled.

Hello i've been using the beta for a while now, and i want to share some feedback of my experience until now, hoping that this can help to improve the software.
 
First thing that i noticed since i started using it, is that i can't find a confortable way to use the app without moving or changing the layers with my hand, i think that would be helpful to have some kind of palm rejection when you're using the pencil. The only way that i find to avoid this problem, is to grab all my layers and put them inside a folder, then i lock the folder to avoid weird selections and layer displacement with my right hand. About the menus, i think that can be more useful, if the curves, levels, or any other effect just have some text buttons without previsualization, this way i think they'll be easier to find without surfing the whole list of images, and probably you can add some kind of quick access menu, or customizable menu with a group of favorite actions or adjustments. Also would be great if we can undock some menus like the color wheel.  Adding a lock/unlock button directly over every layer, like the hide/unhide. Easy hide/unhide selected element, to work with a single object when we've a lot of layers. (something like hide unselected function), also an invert selection function for the layer menu. Maybe could be great if the right side bar, can be something like a drop down menu, where we can have the stuff we need open, because for me is a bit time consuming that i've to open and close every single menu, trying to find what i'm looking for with the icons. (just an idea pherhaps you already try this one and doesn't work). About the new version, i noticed that the app doesn't work well with the splitted screen, would be great that if I can keep working on the app while i'm searching some references on the web or any other application.    
Also i want to share the first matte painting i did with the app.

You can place a rectangle and then go to Layer FX > Outline and set the Alignment to Inside. This should give you an stroke effect where the corners are perfectly sharp.

This looks like an issue with iOS 11. The beta allows you to save a copy to any cloud storage (DropBox, GoogleDrive, One Drive etc) with a 'Locations' button in the top left of the Save panel in iOS 10. However, it looks like they've removed this button for iOS 11. Whether this is intentional or not, we'll probably have to wait for the release version to find out.
 
Edit: At the moment you will need to use the Files app and choose Share (no drag and drop support for external locations) to copy it to your other cloud storage.

Yes it was fixed quite a while ago in beta, and I think it made it to App Store too (v 1.6.4, 2 weeks ago).
 
 
 
It’s not possible yet to share .afphoto except to iCloud/Files app from my experience. I hope to see this feature too.

When in portrait mode and there are lots of layers, I can't scroll down to the bottom the list. If that glitch is active and I rotate to landscape it will persist.
 
The only fix is to close the layer group, be in landscape, open the layer group. I can then scroll all the way down until I do some other manipulation, after which I may be restricted again.

I‘m still not able to store/copy *.afphoto files to any of my cloud storages!
I have installed:
- dropbox
- box
- google drive
- amazon drive
- magenta cloud
- dscloud (synology)
etc.
 
I‘m able to open/import files from there, but NO way back.
 
I‘m not using iCloud Drive and never will so.

Affinity Photo for iPad uses is on version 1.6 and uses a more advanced version of our native file format (while the desktop version in on v1.5). If you downoad and install the latest Affinity Photo Beta for Mac (1.6) from here you should be able to open files created in the iPad version. Alternatively just wait for the next desktop update (no eta yet).
