I get to know small businesses in my community and offer brand and marketing services for print and web. Most of my work is through word of mouth at this point but I will probably do some cold calling next month. It helps that I also design websites and web based applications, as I am able to be a one stop shop for creative services. If you are interested in marketing your services you may want to consider a niche industry to serve. Also helps to have a portfolio of work landing page. PM me if you need any tips.

Such an incredibly unproductive generalization. However, I will agree with the 1% analysis. I hardly visit the forums because I am busy working and making money using Affinity, but when I do, it's the same profiles leaving comment after comment in virtually every thread. Such as in this thread, ironically. Their lack of self awareness is quite hilarious, actually.

Now that Canva bought it? Probably higher than pre-acquisition. There is nothing on the market right now that exudes longevity, and who also aren't at risk of being folded by Adobe.

Key word: never.

Agree. Affinity has little traction in mainstream professional application. I have yet to see a job requirement stating Affinity Suite. It's always Adobe. This needs to change and breaking into education is one way to remedy this. Also, there are so many different workflow improvements I can think of if Affinity is able to connect to Canva API.

Very uplifting news. Also, at least Affinity will never have cash flow issues, something that can be a very real obstacle for smaller software companies.

This. It all may be a moot point, in the end. Still, 800mil + offer when facing down the barrel of an AI supernova facing the industry, they would be fools to not merge. This might be the best for all of us, in the end. We just don't know it.

Better Canva than Adobe. Affinity being a small team put us all in a more vulnerable position. This does help reinforce the walls so to speak, and before reading the entire letter I did think cloud possibilities. At the moment this could go both ways. There is now a 100% chance that small, agile companies will be bought out eventually, but Canvas has a lot to gain by NOT being Adobe, and I think they know this. and besides, when is the last time you explored job openings and saw "must know Affinity Suite" as part of the requirements? This might change that making our favorite tool more mainstream.

It’s the Great Peasants’ Revolt. I guess that comes with having such a low barrier to entry all these years. Oh well, maybe by V3 the peasants will have left. Hold the line 💪 -

This should be your main post thesis, I would not have commented. I can empathize with you, fair points. I don’t agree with them, but that’s your right. But this is not affecting everyone so I am not sure it is the right approach to call Serif untrustworthy due to isolated experiences. I also would love a bug free experience for all software I use, but that is not the case. -

No, not at all. And you did this last thread to another user - appeal to victim status. I don’t have the habit of seeing others as disadvantaged, to me the writing was clear. Hailing for technical support (which everyone here supports) is not the same as what was posted. My writing is blunt but civil. Rants posted on a public forum are not free of criticism. Thanks for reeeeeeeeading!
