DigitalVisuals reacted to Medical Officer Bones in Photo: Gradient Tool
There are many different user types. Which user type exactly should Photo adapt to? Your user type? Mine? A beginner? An expert in image editing? A photographer? A texture artist? A digital painter? An illustrator? The collage creator parent? The wiz kid programmer?
It is literally impossible to satisfy or even define every type of user. The best we can achieve is generalized user types - abstractions of reality. It is therefore impossible to have any software adapt to every single user's background, personal preferences, personal workflow, software experience, GUI expectations, and so on.
It is just plain impossible. Any user interface is a compromise. The more complex the software, the more the developers/UX designers have to compromise.
Now, having said all of this... I do agree with you that a bitmap gradient tool ought to "remember" the previous settings, and allow the user to edit an existing bitmap gradient. Not many image editors allow for this, however (only one comes to mind: PhotoLine). Even Photoshop can't do it. Truth is that by far the most design applications only allow vector objects to have "non-destructive" gradients. Node-based editors fare much better, and generally do support such a workflow.
So, unfortunately the "standard" consensus in layered image editors seems to be that bitmap gradients, once created, cannot be edited.

Any Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort features soon?  This year?  Any date release?  I need to know if I need to change apps.
What is everyone else doing to get around not having Distortion or Perspective distorts in Affinity Designer?
    Any tips?

Thanks for trying that raphaelbonelli - I'm really sorry it did not work.
Both yourself and Studio97Visuals have a 1050 Ti and I'm sure a few other regular forum users have the same GPU, all of whom have issues.
I'm just trying to gather more info and do some more research and will get back to you soon.

DigitalVisuals reacted to RobKlein in Affinity Photo very sluggish
fewer than 10 layers, normally I can move around, apply brush strokes, etc, but with this latest version, not sure what happened, but the cursor is flashing on and off, like its working, and I have to wait between strokes for photo to catch up.
I also normally can brush off the object to get the feather edge of the brush to affect my selected area, but now, if my brush is not directly over the selected area, the brush stroke does not register. This is quite terrible for me, as I often use just the edge of the brush so its feathered, and now I cannot...

    Nooooooooo
There are many dedicated programs that do 3d painting very well. The last thing that Affinity needs is a worse implementation that just bloats the program unneccesarily. Keep it focused!

    Hi @Studio97Visuals,
Are you using Affinity Photo for iPad? If so the assets were installed but due to a bug are not accessible. Do the following as a workaround until we fix this: tap the small menu icon on the header of the Assets Studio and select Add Category (to simply add a new empty category). You should now be able to tab the category button again and switch to the other categories/assets you installed previously.

DigitalVisuals reacted to Jowday in Affinity Photo Windows Customer Beta - 1.9.0.815
Except if a new team was put to work on requested features. That would affect feature development positively.
That being said that if the goal is that a purchase from the store is automatically downloaded then it makes sense for the many non tech savvy users you are probably trying to attract with Affinity. And the new generation of customers who did not grow up with Norton Commander and the like. I didn't try to log in in the apps - never will - but I am curious how the PDF documentation for the brushes is handled. How will the customer get access to it?
The feature will be especially interesting if:
Resources (fx brushes) are shared between all programs Brushes can actually be arranged, re-arranged, grouped and sorted inside the programs (in the panels) as requested many times Resource files are optimized more often - or perhaps split up into several files The new team will not run out of work. 🙂

NeoFinder is one option, and the browser function of Graphic Converter also works. The Mac's own Photos.app will not accept .afphoto files as yet.

For a DAM I use AbeMedia .7.3 and yes it can let see .afphoto files to. And yes you can direct open AF from it.
For so long AF has no one for us.

The document must have been created or edited in Affinity Publisher. You can only create pages in Publisher, but you can add them to a Designer document and you can edit them in Designer.

DigitalVisuals reacted to MikeA in A background-removal technology worth considering
A recent video about removing backgrounds points out a web-based technology that would be outstanding if it could be licensed by and incorporated into Affinity Photo or available as a plug-in. The video link is below (screen shot is from the video). It would be very, very useful for images with complex foregrounds.
