I'm having this too with Designer, and it's there in todays RC1
For what it seems to me, whenever you make any change in the embedded document the original document won't let you save the file.

So the workaround to this issue is to open a new blank document...
If you either click 'Edit Document' in the context toolbar or double-click the embedded pdf in the layers panel you will see the title bar say's 'Loading 1 document', once the document has finished loading and has displayed any missing font and colour profile assistant messages and the title bar no longer shows 'Loading 1 document', open a new blank document and the embedded pdf will now also open which means you'll end up with three open tabs, the source document, the embedded document and your blank document which you can obviously close...
The not-so-good news is that you have to do this every time you need to edit the embedded pdf.

I can confirm I'm seeing the same issue on macOS Monterey in all three apps...

There's no way, currently.
There have been various Feature Requests for an option to set default units in general.

The issue "Multi Page PDFs with Bleed fail to display correctly when placed." (REF: AFD-6559) has been fixed by the developers in internal build &quot2.2.0.1870&quot.
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

Hi All,
We made a slight mistake and the fix for this issue in the alignment drop down didn't go into the right 2.1 branch. Anyway, considering it is a dead safe fix we have decided to quickly get that in before release.
This is a macOS only issue, so have also decided to only rebuild for Mac. For that reason, you will now be getting an update to 2.1.0.1806 for the macOS version which is our new GM build. Windows and iPadOS remain on 2.1.0.1799.

Seamless Pattern Overlays
Extracted, Modified and extended a set of Pattern Overlay Assets. (Part of the Comic Book Toolkit)

Built to make use of the new AD 2.0 feature of being able to drag images | Vectors from the Asset Panel and onto the Fill Swatch (Good for grunge artwork and vintage effects!)
 
Assets Content
1. Set of Positive Dot patterns (scalable using Fill Tool)
2. Set of Negative Dot Patterns (scalable using the Fill Tool)
 
Use
1. Select your vector object
2. Drag Asset to Fill Swatch on context bar
3. Adjust with Fill Tool

Or you could just use the vectors
 If need to change colour -drag out and recolour objects | Create new sub-category and add as required..

can be added to swatches (no need for Styles)
Or
Use adjustments to recolour and effects with Transparency and Layer Settings

Thanks for the video - it was incredibly useful. This is specifically related to Symbols. The Symbol data is not correctly being retained as part of the snapsnot, so when the snapshot is restored, the symbols original attributes are not there to restore.

This is something we do have logged and does affect V1 as well. I will get your comments passed over and get the issue bumped.

Aaaand of course one day later I cannot open Designer beta anymore. It probably figured out that the build has been tampered with.

Have you checked whether that's new to the 2.1 beta, or an older problem with V1 or 2.0?

I've found the problem - Snapshots and Symbols!

It was actually Gabe who created the file, so I asked him and he said the blue box was placed exceeding the bleed area and was used to ensure that area was to be clipped to the bleed bounds and not visible outside it, so it does have a purpose. The PDF just crops the entire thing to the bleed area so that is working as intended.

I noticed in your revised PDF that you only included 1 page, and not all 5 - it is actually this reason that it displays correctly. If you have a PDF with bleed set, that contains more than 1 page, that is where it is going wrong. 

I've created a brand new 2 page doc in Publisher with 15mm bleed. Red rectangle extends to the bleed, and a green one inside the page. If I export a single page with bleed it displays correct when placed in Designer. If I export all pages and place it displays incorrectly.

You're right, it's the same issue. But note that it's not duplicated shapes, it's moved shapes. Draw a path with two nodes, move it, and then trie to option+drag select the nodes. You need to drag around where the nodes originally were.
