    MartinK reacted to Gabe in Liquify as Live-Filter is very slow
    Hi both,
    @MartinK
    Hardware acceleration(new for 1.9) which can be found in Preferences > Performance does not work on Windows 7. So what you see is expected. Live filters (especially Liquify) are resource hungry and will slow down the app. This is where hardware acceleration comes into play (if supported by your OS).
    @Simonj88 are you also running Windows 7?

    Hello Moon! You must return to Earth!
    Footnotes are not important only for short graphical documents, such as a cover, or flyer (a very small part of the job in desktop publishing). I do not know a book, a magazine, a student report, a company presentation, or a university thesis that does not require footnotes. It is even the essence of the service.
    I did a test with a novel of 50 pages. This contains 20 footnotes. The text is just sticking in the right place. QuarkXpress 37 min. Affinity Publisher 5 hrs 12 min. What can I say about a famous actor’s bio whose author was on TV? It contained 480 footnotes…
    This is a serious failure to correct as soon as possible, not a favour to please some eccentrics.

    A desktop publishing software without the management of footnotes, end-of-chapter notes, end-of-section notes, or end-of-book notes is virtually useless. This forces us to stay under Indesign or QuarkXPress. This feature is one of the core functions of the profession.

    Affinity Publisher looks truly excellent — but I can’t see how to add either footnotes or endnotes. Where have you hidden them?
    [There’s a small bit of my brain that’s telling me that you haven’t implemented either yet, but I can’t believe that. Of what possible use would this beautiful new app be without such a basic functionality? I think it’s more likely that you’ve hidden them somewhere or that you’re calling them something else and that I just haven’t found them yet. Please tell me that’s right....]

    Hi MEB,

    thanks for your solution, it works fine. But last night I figured out how to do it - so I have to say that the current crop function is not even bad: If I want to cut a picture I just go to the point reduce - voilà! As simple as that. :) And than I can easy add empty space at the picture.

    A checkbox to make the crop destructive as a matter of fact would be useful but so it's not really bad how I thought before. I'm looking forward to the progress of Affinity software!

    @Fixx:

    Ok, but what if I already have a cropped picture? And the problem is solved as you can read now. Thanks.

    @DavidMac:

    Your pictures are fascinating! Really interesting. I like this kind of art.

    Hello,
    the Perlin Noise function in Affinity is adequate for Clouds in Photoshop (Elements) and is used to design textures such as clouds, water surfaces, fire, smoke, etc. Now I noticed that in Affinity the fractal noise function is not randomly produced: No matter how many times I fill a level and then go to Filter -> Noise -> Perlin Noise: The result always remains the same.
    But if I choose in Photoshop Elements Render -> Clouds, the result is always random.
    Greetings

    MartinK reacted to abarkalo in Refining color selection in HSL adjustment layer
    I would like to have an easy way to change ALL the specific hues in the photo, not just in a given area using the HSL adjustment layer.

    In Photo as in Photoshop I can use the HSL adjustment layer (Hue/Saturation in Photoshop).  In Photoshop I can pick from 6 colors but I can extend or restrict the color range, or use the eyedropper tool to pick the correct starting point.  In Photo, I can only manipulate the six set colors, and no eyedropper tool and seemingly no ability to extent/restrict the range.  What I can do in Photo is select Select Sampled Color and then apply an HSL adjustment - but I just can't seem to fine tune as easily.

    In your Black and White adjustment layer you have a Picker.  I would like something like that in Photo, or at least a method to duplicate what I do in Photoshop - see attached photo.

    Hi,
     while working with colors (reds,yellows,magentas.... HSL....) I am still missing the possibility to choose a range of colors I want to be working with. Something like a slider on the color line (do not want to describe more as it is a common feature in PS....). It is very useful Please....

    I found the solution: It was due to the tool Ditto, which serves to expand the clipboard in Windows. If it is active, the described error occurs in Affinity. Strangely there were no problems with the tool up to version 1.6.
