Not sure if there's a reason that software don't seem to allow exporting to *.ico, but if it's possible, it'd be nice to be able to export directly to an ico file type.
I'm going to guess that there's a logical reason this isn't done yet or it probably would of, but will put it out there maybe I'll find out why it doesn't seem to be a thing softwares export to instead of needing to convert jpgs.

Interesting that some of the replies on this thread are negative in only the sense of either 1, unrelated things or 2, bitter that people now are lucky to get 50% off purchase price when they paid full price previously. Meaning they fail to see the fact they could get their friends/family/online communities a chance to get some great software cheap, if they are enjoying the software themself.

Some may not think it's much, or insults users who adopted the software earlier, but commendations to the team at San Serif for trying to do something to help where it may mean a world of difference to some people who are struggling through this global nightmare.

Made this on stream tonight, between Designer (most of the work) and Photo, started off as just the cube, then found the greenery assets while trying to find how to create a sphere...

Then added some of the assets and things from the Affinity store. It's nothing overly special, but probably one of the nicer things I've managed to put together. Probably a lot/too much going on, but was just playing around - rather happy with how it came out.

Name of it came from a viewer which is why it went from more than just the cube to what it is.

Aussie iTV got a reaction from William Overington in Work in Progress
Only recently found the Isometric grid, which is something I'm all for, I've always found Isometric easier to work in, even when I did wood work design work in high school.
The multi-coloured buildings are in progress, just as base buildings to work from, so I can see where things lay as I move and change things.
The buildings are the easy part, doing the light poles and its lighting effects and building lighting effects similar to the ground level outward effects in the screenshot is where I'm gonna be doing a fair bit of research, along with filler for the currently blank white spaces in opposite corners.

If I remember correctly, you can't have dotted lines and pen pressure together

Aussie iTV reacted to h_d in Forum question - app?
All I can tell you, having recently reached it, is that you get four blobs at 1000 posts. (Where has my life gone?)
At some point (certainly on three blobs) you can customise your title on your profile page.
The version of the website on my phone (iOS 14, Safari) has a different layout from the desktop version and works quite well, although it's not an app as such.

Aussie iTV reacted to Dan C in Forum question - app?
Invision (the provider of these forums) recently released a version 1.0.1 'Community' app, that allows for Invision customers to add their forums to a 'directory of communities' that you can access through their app.
This requires the Affinity Forums to be using Invision 4.5, which is the version we've just recently updated to - however I don't believe we have any plans to add our forums to this 'community' app at this time, though I will raise this with the relevant teams to see if it's something we might be interested in, in the future.
In the meantime as mentioned above, the Affinity Forums are a responsive design and should function fully from any mobile browser.
This 'title' directly under your username (Member) is set automatically by the forums and relates to the number of posts you have made. If you wish to change this you can do so by visiting your Profile page and selecting 'Edit Profile' in the top right. The first option here is Member Title and you should be able to change this as you wish.
The second 'title' under your profile picture (Members) relates to the 'Group' that your account is assigned to for the forums, this cannot be changed and is set automatically by our Group Promotions rules in the background.
I hope this clears things up

Aussie iTV got a reaction from Graymatter in Ability to export icon files (*.ico) in Designer
See this topic is still rather active, posted about the same thing myself.
Would definitely love to see an *.ico export feature integrated. Not sure why people assume that because the software is vector it can't be used for icons, nor why just because they are currently stored as a .dll file, doesn't mean people aren't making icons for their own use, or wanting to do things their own way.
Affinity isn't strictly commercial use only, so if there's still support for a feature despite the "industry standard" not using/requiring it, although later replies seem to suggest it may still be useful regardless, it doesn't make it not worth introducing, for end users who don't use *.ico files, it's neither here nor there, but for those who do want the feature it'd make a world of difference, especially when it comes to the previously mentioned TOS of online converters that may sneak in "reserve the right to use uploaded content for our own promotional use...etc etc etc"

Do hope that this is considered by the devs, unless plugins are ever introduced (only post I could find regarding plugins was from 2016 and said they didn't have plans at that stage to introduce plugin support) which would allow open source version of it.

You want to use the Perlin Noise filter on a Pixel layer and then add a Lighting filter layer, use Directional and play with the Texture slider.

Aussie iTV reacted to carl123 in Grouping issues
There is currently a problem in the 1.9.0 release where certain text layers once grouped will be resized and hence change their position. This has been fixed in 1.9.1 which is expected to be released this week
In the meantime, you can group all other (non-text) layers then drag the text layers into the group, which should work as expected

Sorry, I am actually using Designer, and 'reduced the workspace' is just the wrong choice of words, or not using better software words - primarily because I am still very new to using Affinity and just used the words that came to me naturally.

I did go through Document settings and configured it that way, but also since found that I was likely working off of the *absolute minimum* pixel requirements too

To get the effect you need to break the key down into components.
Outline key shape Internal flutes The outline shape would have an emboss like this, notice the colouring of the highlight

The flutes would be the reverse, so like this.

You would end up with something like this

Thanks for your suggestion, in the process of trying to follow it, and having received the Designer workbook today as well, I ended up finding that making it the child layer and then setting the blend mode of the child layer to "erase" achieved the result I was looking for.

    Thanks for your suggestion though!

Been watching a few Youtube videos while I wait for my Affinity Designer book to come, and in the process have made a few lil graphics, playing around with child objects, gradients, the add/subtract/divide functions and transparency.
