Hi there,

Just wondering if there is a better way to have this texture layer onto the text AND the effects as well, currently I only know how to do child layers, if there is a better option I'd definitely love to hear it or if I am asking something that isn't doable...

As you can see below, when the effects are removed, it's very easy to see the texture, but when the effects are applied it is very much so lost under the effects.

Cheers,

Aussie

You could place the texture above the text, then ctrl/cmd + click on the text layer to make a selection, then select the texture layer and go to Layer > Create new mask, this should click the texture to the shape of the text, then change the blend mode of the texture layer to ADD.

Thanks for your suggestion, in the process of trying to follow it, and having received the Designer workbook today as well, I ended up finding that making it the child layer and then setting the blend mode of the child layer to "erase" achieved the result I was looking for.

Thanks for your suggestion though!
