AI editing help in detail & pattern reconstruction, infill / cloning, object removal, mask creation, etc.? Absolutely. Bring it on -- sooner than later.
AI for actual image / content creation, manipulation, fakery? Not a chance -- I create my content, not AI.

That helps Walt, a lot!   But it would be even better to have copy abilities for guides.

No this beta does not include any changes which would create problems like that, which is why it is explicit about using this instead of the 1.10.0 release.
The beta announcement does not use that phrase when we do not recommend using it for real work. THIS beta we do recommend it

So, weirdly (but also, yay!), it looks like 1.9.2 has fixed the crash issue for me 😕

Pretty pleased with this one. I really like photos that incorporate vector shapes / line work, so wanted to have a stab at my own. The space / window section was done in Designer, than that file was placed into the larger picture in Photo with some further work done. I used a lot of tricks I learned from the lockdown Affinity sessions (isometric grids, using textures as overlays, various colour adjustments, etc.), so many thanks for those! 🙂

If the linked files are all in the same directory, then:
Open the .afpub file. When you get the dialog popup about missing resources, choose "Yes", not "Resource Manager". Locate the file that Publisher presents to you. Publisher should automatically find all the others.

Throne777 got a reaction from Renzatic in Deftones White Pony Artwork
I've been playing around with song lyric artwork, and as it's the anniversary of the White Pony album I thought I'd do one for that. The lyrics are repeated (IIRC the text box is filled with the album lyrics 3 times) because to fill the logo would've required to blow up the lyrics a fair bit, which meant the logo didn't have very good definition. As a heads up, the lyrics do contain swear words. (I wouldn't have thought that counts as controversial, but happy to redo the post as just as link if it is). Logo and text and was done in Designer, background photo was edited in Photo.
Obviously all kudos to the band for the pony logo and lyrics, I just did this a bit of fun fanboy art.

Was practicing different mediums by mixing 3D sculpting and Greasepencil in Blender and then finally finishing it with a 2D paintover inside Affinity Photo. Was a lot fun!

Here is the original Blender version before the paintover for those who are curious.

MY BOOKCOVER TUTORIAL IN THE AFFINITY WORKBOOK
My work in book cover design caught the attention of Serif (Nottingham) and one day I got mail. Whether I wanted to do a tutorial on book cover design for the new Affinity Photo Workbook, and of course, I was happy to be there. As an example, I have contributed a tutorial for the design of the book cover of a fictional novel (Search The Woods): From setting up the document to the actual design and exporting the print edition, all work steps are carefully described.

I'm practicing techniques by mashing together photos from UnSplash. I'm not quite happy with how the Earth looks, it just doesn't seem to sit right in the picture.
I tried to upload it here but I kept getting an error message of '-200', whatever that means. So had to link from imgur.

How to use a Pen Tool - explained real simple. In this Video I will show you how to use the Pen Tool and Node Tool in Affinity Photo. But you will also learn that Curves and Shapes can do sooo much more. Not just Illustration and Vectors. Use Curves for Selections. Use Curves for Gradients and Glow Effects. Use Curves to Mask and Clip Layers.

Throne777 reacted to smadell in Luminosity Masks
In response to a post I made last May, MJSfoto1956 suggested the use of Blend Options as an alternative to more traditional luminosity masks. It turns out that the use of the Blend Options panel, combined with a little math, makes luminosity based selections quite effective. The trouble is that the method is cumbersome if you do them from scratch each time.

What I have created is a series of Macros that automates the process. The attached afmacros file contains macros for creating Luminosity Selections in their usual and anticipated forms: Lights 1 through Lights 4, Darks 1 through Darks 4, and Midtones 1 through Midtones 4.

    Notes:

    1) Each action will select a luminosity-based portion of the selected layer.
    2) NO additional channels are created, so files don’t become bloated.
    3) Once the selection is made, it can be used for an adjustment layer, a mask, a live filter, etc. It can be deselected (like any selection). It can be replaced by using a different selection (e.g., click on Lights 2 to replace the selection made by Lights 1).

    Caveats:

    4) You must have a Pixel layer or an Image layer selected for the macros to work properly. If you have any other type of layer selected, or if you have NO layer selected, the results you get will be wrong.
    5) The macros will undo any Blend Options you may have set on the selected layer.
    6) I am one person with one computer. Obviously, I have not tested these macros in every possible situation. Use them if you like them. No guarantees are made.
    7) However, if you like them, they are yours. They are my way of saying “thank you” to the Forum for helping me learn a wonderful piece of software!
