    Hey IsabelAracama,

It looks like the labels were missed when we renamed some things. I'll get this to development for you. Sorry

In File > Document Setup > Color tab, what does it show for Color Format? If RGB/8, does changing to RGB/16 make any difference?

    Hi IsabelAracama,
This is because we apply dithering to the gradients but not to filters nor layer effects. I already have filled an improvement request for this but i don't know if it will be considered.
I'm moving this thread to the feature requests section. Meanwhile the only way to deal with the banding is adding some noise to whatever is causing it to help smooth it out.

On my monitor is banding visible. It's not as obvious as applying blur, but seeing it.
Much depends on the brightness setting and the type of monitor (I tried it on three :-), so it can also be a display error.
The monitor just can not show such gentle transitions, and that's why it seems like a banding.

    Hi,

    does someone could help me?
I have just downloaded the application on my MacPro, however this is all in German

I cannot work with it in German - my brain refuses as I have been using all those graphic stuff always in English.. and although I'd survived - finding any option is just a nightmare.

Please help - how to change it? :(

IsabelAracama reacted to R C-R in noise slider?
My guess is to avoid having to make the Color panel large enough to include both noise & opacity sliders or radio buttons to choose between them, thus making more room in the UI for other things. Not an unworthy goal in theory but in practice it makes it totally non-obvious that the tiny well is a toggle.
At least on Macs, the tooltip just says "Switch," probably the most overly minimalistic tooltip in the entire UI!

It is hard to see because there is nothing there to see -- you just have to know the well is a toggle. Not the best UI design in the world, is it?

IsabelAracama reacted to retrograde in How can I offset the path of an object?
I'm hoping the eventual offset path type of feature will be more interactive than illustrator's, maybe with a slider or something to preview it happening in realtime on the object before committing would be better. Sometimes typing in numbers for these kinds of edits is counter intuitive. The ability to have both I guess would be the ultimate...

I looked for that quite a while until I found the dialog to set the "coverage map". The help does not list it.
In case somebody else is also looking for it, that dialog is visible after click on the gear-wheel in the layer list where you can also select mix mode and opacity.

Maybe this can be also added to the context drop down menu of the layer (right mouse button / ctrl+click).

IsabelAracama reacted to JimmyJack in Snapping object center anywhere on a path?
    Hi Isabel,

If you're looking for a snapping option that does this by design I don't believe it exists at this point.

So let's start up the workaround engine....maybe that's what you were looking for in the first place.
With snapping "bounding box midpoints" checked add a point at the center of the object you want to move. Since points can't exist on their own in Affinity, place a second point anywhere. Now you have an extra little line with one end at the center point. With "snap to object geometry" checked, use the node tool to grab all the points of your object AND the new line. That middle point (any point really) should snap anywhere on the target object. Delete the little line.

My first instinct was that the colour highlight is very subtle!

Just a single pixel line where I was expecting it to tint the whole folder.

    Perhaps it is sufficient.

    Time will tell I guess!

    Hi peeps,
I leave here a tut on how to create an skeuomorphic volume knob. I'd say this kind of simple pieces is how I started learning how to "read objects" in order to reproduce them in a realistic way. It is pretty simple to follow through even for newbies and results are quite nice. Hope you enjoy it, and if so, comment, like and subscribe for more. Thank you all.
