If we have multiple artboards and we lock some of them, using new "select same" and "select object" options will also select elements on locked artboards. Elements selected in that way can be manipulated, deleted etc. This obviously may lead to many unwanted situations where we feel safe because we have locked artboard, but something got deleted/moved anyways, while we were working on other artboard.

I think this makes new, great functionality very limited when we are working with artboards. Clearly would be better to perform selection only on currently selected/active artboards or only on these that are not locked. Whatever is locked should be... well, locked Thats the whole point of locking it

Hi @sveto, what @anon2 said - the issue is that so called vector brushes aren’t vector brushes. Lmao.
why serif decided to call them vector brushes is beyond my understanding - textured brushes would fit and wouldn’t cause dozens of misunderstandings.
I’ve actually found out after buying some of those brushes from affinity store. Yes, I was offered a refund but declined for I finally realized that I sadly can’t take serif/affinity seriously. Yet.

Sadly. If anyone would for some reason look up my previous posts, it would quickly become obvious that i've had issue after issue with Affinity in the past. I'm not a hobbyist and need tools that i can rely on. Why i thought i could leave the Adobe ecosystem idk, but in hindsight, it was a bad decision. I'm back on Photoshop already, and who knows if i won't be needing Illustrator in the foreseeable future...

The difference is that once your layer list is larger then the Layers palette, then when you auto select, then the layer list auto scrolls to the activated/highlighted layer. 
But agree, not what you are asking for. Auto select is a UX thing that may help some users, but irritates others. Including me. For example when I paint and have separate layers for background / sketch / foreground / highlights etc., it is very easy to auto select wrong layer, especially background and paint inside it. And all the advantage of digital painting, a chance to have things separated, is lost. 

Disable auto select (or at least a proper full locking) is a must have feature. 

I have been searching for a while now, but cant find any "select same colour" feature. All I can find is a feature request post from 4 years ago asking for this. Surely this rudimental feature has been implimented by now. Selecting and replacing a colour is one of the main benefits of vector work, to not have this seems crazy to me. I know the dev team is small and  your product is so superior to Adobe is so many ways, but missing fundamental features like this makes it unusable for real world projects. 
I hope I am being a dullard and a select same colour feature is available. If not please add it to the top of the list of features in the next update.

Automatic grid just disappears whenever I zoom close enough to see the pixels subdivision. It's not document specific but it just started happening randomly on every existing document and every new one I make in Designer. Automatic grid in Photo works just fine though for now. I've tried making a custom grid and what not but subdivisions are just broken now. Don't show no matter what I try.
Also, since it started happening for whatever reason it's really heavy on my MB Pro when I zoom in. Temperature skyrockets in seconds.

Adding a "Update" button so the embedded document updates.

I use Photo the most, because I can work both with vectors and rastered images and use all the pixel editing tools, also Photo has Live Filters.
But, when I want to mount everything in artboards in Designer, and I embed my assets, they don't auto-update, or at least there is no update button. Having to click on Replace Document, find the document, click ok, in order to update changes is not practical.

Auto-update would be even better but it's optional.

I have been using PS for years, and when you in PS perform the Save for Web action with "cmd+alt+shift+s" you see a preview of the image that will be saved. When you in Affinity Photo use the same command for Export you DO NOT see any preview of the image that will be exported. So why its this so important to have?!:
Im saving images to used online 99,9% of the time. That means i want to have the best quality possible, with the smallest file size possible. In PS and JPEG export you can lower the quality, to reduce the file size, until the image quality is no longer acceptable. Then save. In Affinity Photo you can do the same, but with the big difference that you can not see how the image will turn out until you have completed the export! 

Well, anyway, 
if Affinity plans to move forwards the users who need not only photo part, but use it for wider options, this really needs some attention.
For example I would like to use this app for painting. For such usage current locking is lacking very useful features. At the moment I am not able to lock alpha and prevent from painting behind the current shape. That is something widely used in proces of painting during shading etc. 
And even the full locking is needed. When you got a photo layer and you wish to lock it, any accidental action is usually visible, eg once you use some filter or adjustment. But when I paint? I have no idea I got selected the wrong layer after some last transformation or something (which I use a lot during sketching). And with auto select behaviour it is much more likely to make such mistake and destroy some layer you did not intended to paint on. 

Hey Affinity let me put it like this:
Your only path forward here is to listen to your users and turn them into evangelists who will convince their coworkers and colleagues to switch from Photoshop. Take a look at when this thread was created and ask yourself if you think you're doing a good job on this front?
Adobe is driving long time users away because they're making irresponsible UX changes that are ruining workflows that we've used forever. The most recent version actually ruined the workflow that this thread is asking you to support. It creates a weird delay after you press Ctrl which slows things down. If you want to capture this large, increasingly frustrated user-base from Photoshop. Now is the time.

Regarding the full lock feature: when a layer is locked you cannot select it from the canvas (only from the Layers panel which we consider a deliberate action) thus preventing it from being painted/modified. The only exception to this is the background layer (on the bottom of the layers stack) which we deliberately made selectable even when locked (for technical reasons). To prevent it from being painted/changed accidentally place/create a new pixel layer below it in the Layers panel. This turns your background layer unselectable again on canvas.

I don't see any difference between it being off and on. And I wanted to turn the "auto-select" feature off - if I select one layer on the right, I want to be able to click anywhere and move just the layer I selected. Is there a way to do that?

It has never been a bug but it has always been undesirable behaviour for many users. In version 1.7 there is a Preferences setting where you can turn it off, but please note that this will also turn off cycling among tools in a group (e.g. pressing J repeatedly to cycle among the tools in the group that includes the Healing Brush Tool and the Inpainting Brush Tool).

Hitting the keyboard shortcut for a tool sometimes brings up another (previous tool used). For example, Perhaps I use clone and then brush tool. I stop or get distracted and I forget which tool, so I hit B shortcut again for Brush tool and it goes back to clone tool. They look very similar, circle + crosshairs, so I start painting and I get clone tool. I then have to undo etc. This is not a deal breaker because AP is a great program for the price. I am production and I have to move very fast. This happens at least 3-4 times a day. It is annoying. When I hit a shortcut key, that is the tool I want. I don't want to scan the toolbar to confirm my tool selection etc. At least give us an option in preferences to turn off this feature. Thanks

I do a lot of Illustration in Affinity Designer but in the last Step i switch to Illustrator because of the Live Paint Bucket. This an the Shapebuilder Tool is in some parts a Killerfeature witch i would like to see in AD.

this and the live paint bucket tool. With this tool i can coloring my vector-illustration in minutes. In Affinity Designer i have to build a second shape for the color

Welcome to Affinity Forums
I'm assuming you are painting with the Paint Brush Tool. If so check/tick Protect Alpha checkbox from the context toolbar. If you can't see this checkbox in right most end of the toolbar click the ">>" symbol there to display a pop-up with the rest of the context toolbar options.

I am not sure this would do what you want, but have you tried toggling off Editable for the Composite Alpha channel in the Channels panel?

Currently there's no way to change the order of controls/customize the context toolbar. Feel free to create a new thread in the Feature Requests section if you feel this is important for you.

In photoshop when I had the move tool activated by default i had it set to select layer. In Affinity I cannot seem to find this setting. When clicking on a design it always selects the top level group, but I would much rather have it select the layer I've clicked. 
 
Is this possible?
