Did a complete reinstall of the iPad. Seems to be ok now.

Hi all,
I have just logged this as a feature request. I've asked to either add the Vector Crop Tool as an option that we can add from Customise Tools or potentially add a Vector Mask option with the existing mask options.

I did a full reinstall today. So far so good. Stress test over the next few days. 

Great. That’s why I put my solution up.. in case others could use it.
 

A solution has been found. Amazing.
I went into the iPad Settings, and selected Reset. The one just before the one that cleans it off ready for resale. 
Gritting my teeth I hit ‘do it’
Well after a time the iPad was restarted and it’s like a different iPad. !
Everything works- I had to reset a few options like permissions, wallet and so on, but. Not as much as I thought. 
However. Affinity apps are now working perfectly, along with Files. everything is working better than it has done for years. 
I’ve been using this daily for years now, and I guess it was just so full of junk files it couldn’t continue.
So thanks for the ideas above folks. I appreciate it. I can report that a Reset is a good fix if it’s not been done before on a busy system. It fixes lots of things, and gives the iPad a new lease of life..

 

I guess I’m lucky. I can’t make it crash on these tests. Dealing with Files, yes sometimes. But otherwise.

Ok. I’ve tried modifying the gear design on an iPad, an M2 Mac, and Windows 11. 
all in  the latest Beta.
Sorry. I can’t get it to crash. Everything seems to work as it should, including altering.

Yes, I’ve tried all that. And now, oddly. After the installation of the latest Beta a few minutes ago, the Betas at least seem to be ok. Haven’t given it a stress test yet but looking ok so far.

Ok, seem to have found it. Deleted Files app and reinstalled it. Haven’t put it to the test much but looking good.

What would be nice is that process being stuffed into the background to run when the app is opened, starting from where it left off for instance so the app can be closed.
As it stands, the app can't be closed until its finished,  and there is no messaging to let the user know that there is a really  really long process taking place, and it could take hours for the app to actually close.
Fortunately, it doesn't happen very often. Once per install, I think. But it's disconcerting when it does.
A red stop sign could be displayed, with a message saying "Don't close this program until background downloading has completed, and this sign turns Green"
Easy.

I’d really like to see Extrude added to effects in Designer.

Can’t see the problems you are talking about because the screen recordings are so bad.
So instead of just swearing, try to describe clearly what the problems are that you are experiencing.. 

Sorry guys, going slightly off topic here so I thought I’d better reiterate.
I know about and use the shortcut method, but what I’m interested in is Affinity being enabled as a photo editor like the three already there.
The sequences are in this video. The first part is my interest in this post the last part the working shortcut method.
Its the first part I’m interested in seeing implemented.

This isn’t a solution to the iPad question. I know about the Mac version and use it but it’s not a solution for the iPad I’m afraid.
So I guess we just wait for it to become implemented in an update in the future.

Hmmm. So that’s what I’m stumbling over I guess. I don’t find that very intuitive. If I’m looking for all my Green layers I’d expect it to return and highlight all my Green layers.

I must say this is interesting. I'm discovering what ICC works best on my HP monitor. Discovering "What It All Means"... Turns out that if I want to use OCIO to any effect, I need to set one of these listed in the config file for: JR Blender 4.0 OCIO adapted for Affinity Photo 2, -> config.ocio

For my Display Profile. This is what I have. Now I am using the HP as the main display, and the S22C350 (Samsung) as the secondary.
But they aren't listed in the OCIO config.
Interestingly, the Display P3 is the default Apple profile. And both displays work fine with that in place. And also sRGB.
So for now I'm using Display P3 on both. I'm hoping to buy a 5K LG monitor next year. Lots of bucks though. Then I can get some pretty pictures!
So anyway. At least now I know I can use Display P3 or sRGB as the base monitor profile, and use either of those in the OCIO.
Interestingly, the iPad version works the same.
I'm using the same config.ocio on both the Mac and the iPad. Works in both places. The iPad Mini is
Liquid Retina display. 8.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology. 2266-by-1488 resolution at 326 pixels per inch (ppi) Wide color display (P3) True Tone display.  
The Mac display profiles. Set to P3.

No, I think there's a problem. On my iPad, Paste is grayed out for all 3 V2 apps when I have the cursor in a Text Frame, but from the keyboard Cmd+V will either paste (if permission has been given through the system Settings) or will Ask for permission. So Pasting is clearly possible, but for some reason the menu options are not available.

Assuming you're using Publisher 2, you can Place the PDF using the Place Tool, and the Place panel will open. In that panel, by default you'll have the first page of the PDF file selected, but to select additional pages you can expand the page listing (Show All Pages, see below) and select the additional pages you want to be placed.

As @walt.farrell mentions, selecting a Layer with right click > Rasterize & Trim does this operation after you use crop tool. The reason it is not done destructively is so that we can recrop if necessary later on.

You can also perform Layer > Merge Visible, which will give you a copy of the image with the current crop, without impacting your original layers.
