Affinity-Inspiration Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 This is an issue with Photo I feel. With RAW images in Apple Photos, to edit them I have to Export the image to disk, then Open it with Photo so that it sees that it's a RAW file. Any other method of bringing it into Photo from Apple Photos doesn't bring it in as a RAW. In addition, the Camera Data is only brought in in some instances and not others. In the RAW format it brings it in fine. I'm thinking that I should be able to open it as RAW (Develop Persona) directly from Photos, rather than go the roundabout way of Exporting it from Photos, then opening it in Affinity Photo. Hope this makes sense. Let me see if I can caption these images. The RAW file Opened correctly from the disk and is ready for development. The RAW file exported from Photos to disk. The RAW file sitting in Apple Photos. It doesn't have an accompanying jpg. It's pure RAW, The image dragged into Affinity Photo. No RAW and no camera data. Same if Edit with Affinity Photo is selected from right click. It just doesn't see the RAW, and sucks it in as I presume a jpg. Third attempt, this time I get camera data. Just editing the image again directly from Apple Photos. Quote iPad Mini 6. 256GB. My GoTo design platform. M2 Mac Mini. 24GB. LG 4K Monitor. + Samsung Monitor 2. Windows 10 Toshiba. Hangman Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Hi @Affinity-Inspiration, This should work and bring across the Metadata correctly without the need to export the image to disk first... In Photos, if you load a RAW image and simply right-click and select 'Edit With' and then select Affinity Photo it will load the file in the Photo Persona as a Tiff... If instead, with the RAW file loaded in Photos, you click the Edit button (top right) first to take Photos into 'Edit Mode' and then select the Extensions Icon (the ellipsis in a circle) and select 'Edit in Affinity Photo' selecting the Beta (or whichever version you want to use) it should then load the RAW file from Photos into the Develop Persona of Affinity Photo... There's no batch processing, and for most Apple people who might use the Apple Photos app, its difficult to get a good workflow going. Hangman 1 Quote
