Hi Voky,

Welcome to the forums!

The current limit for fonts overall is 9999 but this will be removed in a future update :).

Thanks

Jakub, the code should allow any number of favourites. Which OS is this please and which application?

Hello,

I see it has not yet been resolved - this issue in Affinity apps. Still, when I add new fonts to my favorites, I overwrite the original ones - the first ones I entered. Is it possible to solve this?

Best regards, Jakub

There is a limit on the number of Favorites you can have.

On Windows, if you purchased from Serif, you can look in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\<program-name>\1.0\Settings where you should find an editable file named Fonts.xml. By default, that file contains the following 2 lines near the end (the second line will expand to include a list of font names if you have any favorites specified):

<MaximumFavouriteFamilyNamesCount>100</MaximumFavouriteFamilyNamesCount>

<FavouriteFamilyNames/>

Note that the MaximumFavouriteFamilyNamesCount is set to 100. That may be what determines the limit, and if so, then you could edit that file and change the count to a larger value. I have not tried doing that, so I do not know for sure that it would allow more favorite fonts. But you could make a backup copy of that file, then change the count in the original file and see what happens.

(Assuming that does work, something similar may be possible on Windows if you bought from the Microsoft Store. And it may be possible on Mac. I don't know about either, nor where the corresponding file would be located.)

Thank you very much for your answer. This helps. I adjusted the number to 1000 pieces and opened the app. I have added some fonts to my favorites. Then I closed the application and looked into this file again. The number itself changes to 232. Apparently this is some ceiling application.

Thank you anyway for your help!

A small correction...

Alas, in none of the Mac Affinity versions are there anything resembling .xml per user support files, as far as I can tell. Everything seems to be binary coded, with very little human readable content. :(

Thanks, Carl. Switched from the %AppData% form of the name and messed up.

We have made fixes/improvements to the font UI in the latest Windows customer beta. Sorry this issue has taken so long to get resolved properly. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below.

The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts.

These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version. #when using beta builds, please work on copies of your files, as 1.8.0 uses a more advanced version of the file format than 1.7.3

Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.0 update/patch to all customers.
