Hi guys, my name is Luis Valencia.

I bought Affinity since they launch the first version but I don't know why I never made an account, but oh well. I really like a lot Affinity Designer and is the only program I used to design and make illustration.

Greetings from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

My name is Jon and I'm a lone wolf digital product designer, occasional start up founder. accidental writer and random DJ.

I have been in the UX/ UI design game for quite a while, dating back to the days of Macromedia. I found a friend in Fireworks, and of course, suffered through Adobe's tyranny over the years.

When Adobe dropped support for Fireworks, I decided to switch to Sketch.

It hasn't been a perfect ride, but in general, I'm in love with the tool or rather, a tool that is tailored for the UX/ UI design workflow. Especially given the number and range of screen types we must consider in design.

Further, what keeps me there is the ecosystem around it, which would be the plugins, the integrations with Zeplin, Invision and so on.

I’ve always been extremely impressed with the quality and stability of Affinity’s software.

In fact, I have owned licenses for Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer for quite a while.

I occasionally use AF Designer, but to be honest, it wasn’t really best suited for my work and workflow. The release of AF Designer 1.5 looks to have opened the door for something exciting.

I’m reconsidering it for use as my primary UX/ UI design tool.

My main concern at this point is developer hand-off, which is a huge source of friction and one that Zeplin solves very well. I’ll be curious to see how that goes with AF Designer.

Finally, just to chime in on a massive pain point, which is broken and disconnected from the current UI design process, and that point is interactive prototyping. With all of the challenger UI tools hitting the market, most have failed to address interactive prototyping, those that have addressed it, have not really hit on anything that useful yet.

Congrats on this launch of 1.5 - it looks beautiful, fast and useful, and I can’t wait to get into my office and give it a whirl on Monday.

Take care.

Hi there, everyone :)

My name is James and I'm here to learn a bit about Affinity Designer. I know nothing about designing, but I have built a couple of websites in the past, mostly with BBEdit, HTML 4, CSS, JavaScript, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Too many years have elapsed for me to jump right back in to where I left off before my eyes took a turn for the worse. I've never done web page building for a living. For me it was always just a passion. ;)

I've used Adobe's software in the past. I wasn't too hot with Photoshop or even with Illustrator, which was my favourite at the time for a long while. For now, I'm just happy to be rid of Adobe. LOL

... Just one thing - I don't know if your forum servers are at fault or what! but, I couldn't get my membership to validate (no E-mail at all in 1 hour)... I got round this ... and changed the e-mail address to a G.Mail addy instead of a .tiscali one and luckily this g.mail account brought in an e-mail with a clickable link saying that I had changed my e-mail address and should now click the link to verify…Thus getting finally onto your system....

Sean

Sean, thanks. For 2 weeks I've been trying to get validated and your method worked for me too. I guess Serif-Forum hates .com email addrs and accepts gmail. Your post, even 2.5 yrs old, helped!

Greetings! Ahh, the announcement of Affinity Designer for WIN was music to my ears and has brought me back to Serif products after abandoning the ship for AI and PS. I had been waiting for better products (with AI & PS import) to free me from Adobe and now they are here, well, Affinity Photo for WIN is nearby. It is great to be back to Serif and I am really enjoying AD-WIN with all the great tuts from Serif and Envato Tuts+. Regards, Jer

Hi fellow Affinity Windows Testers: I'm Jeff AKA mediator.  I've been a user of Serif products since they cane on 5.25" floppies!  Over the years Ive been on countless beta teams for Microsoft and many others including Serif.  I've been an unofficial evangelist for Serif for over 20 years and until retiring a few years ago continually touted the huge bang for the buck of Serif Software.  Retirement has a way of reversing itself when money gets tight so here I am again! Freelancing and working on personal projects and I just can't budget an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.  Well here comes old standby Serif with a Windows version of Designer that needs some Beta input. I'm in!! And thanks for a beta that works great on an underpowered laptop with 4GB Ram and an AMD E2 Vision processor!

Hi

A passion for both Art and Photography has been with since my childhood days where I was very fortunate to have access to all the London art galleries. In my early twenties, I discovered photography which opened an entirely new world for me.

After reading many books and a list of complete failures I now like to think myself as a visual artist, and this can take many forms from photography straight from my camera and composite photo work.

My camera of choice is a Fuji XT1 which I have been using for about a year now. It is a fantastic photographers camera being very versatile and suits travel and street photography. Its light weight is very beneficial if you are hiking over long distances to grab that special landscape image.

I am looking forward to contributing to the forum.

My name is Mark, I am a Mac user based in the UK.

Meaning no disrespect to Affinity Designer, my purchase was very much based on wanting a One Trick Pony. I need to be able to move, copy, duplicate and reorganise objects in PDF documents (designs not text based) and AD was my choice.

I had been using a much more specialised tool but the development is slow and the app is buggy so I have had to bid a fond farewell to that old friend.

I tried the Death by a Thousand Cuts that is Acrobat and Illustrator then found AD.

If I end up using even 5% of its functionality I would be surprised but that is life.

Hello all

I didn't want to get married to a certain other photo/designer program and pay for it for the rest of my life, luckily I found Affinity who had no marriage intentions and so it was a no brainer.

I've got designer for the serious stuff, designing logos, etc and also have photo to mix and match with designer but photo for me is also for fun, I like to have fun with pictures.

Anyhow, thanks for being there Affinity and thanks for having such a great forum to complement your product..... :D

You deserve many more conversions to your product.......

Hello,

I am a photographer specialized in the panoramic photo (360 °, but also HD by assembly mosaics). Affinity interests me as an alternative to Photoshop and Lightroom that I use. Affinity’s possibility in  retouch of an equirectangular when looking a rectilinear projection is a great advantage for me.

Is there with Affinity a possibility of a repetitive process of the conversion RAW / TIF for a series of photos? It is advisable to apply the same settings (modifications) to all images of the same panorama.

Kind regards,

Hubas

Hello! I'm a Adobe Community Professional on the Adobe forums for InDesign! However, I'm very intrigued by Affinity and the design programmes.

I've signed up for Affinity Windows beta - and it's fantastic!

A little about me! I'm a double black belt in two different styles of martial arts. I'm a professional graphic designer and prepress operator. A former screen printer which I worked at for 3 years, and prepress operator for one of Ireland's oldest printing companies, I also had a long stint as an in-house designer and finally making my way back to prepress.

I've been in printing and prepress since 1997! And long may it continue.

It's great to be on board!
