mistertimman Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Just a query. Is it still planned to publish an Affinity Photo Workbook ? If so when is this likely to happen? Is there any news on the beta release of Affinity Publisher? Or has it happened and I missed it? Regards, Tim Quote
Staff MEB Posted May 21, 2017 Staff Posted May 21, 2017 Hi Tim, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Yes, the Affinity Photo Workbook will still be published. As far as i know there's no eta at this point. Affinity Publisher Beta wasn't released yet. We will announce it here and in social media as soon as there's some news. rgcn and The Bearded Bird 2 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
mistertimman Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 HI MEB, Thanks for your response. Has the Workbook been started yet? It would be so useful to have. I use to love all the resource books for theSerif Plus series. Regards, Tim Quote
Staff Patrick Connor Posted May 21, 2017 Staff Posted May 21, 2017 Yes, the Affinity Photo Workbook is well underway. We regularly review chapters as they are submitted and some are ready for German localisation. We actually use PagePlus X9 (via BookPlus) to create and compile it to PDF. 000 1 Quote Patrick Connor Serif Europe Ltd Latest V2 releases on each platform Help make our apps better by joining our beta program! rgcn Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 This is great news. The Designer workbook is fantastic, I know The Photo book will be as well. Rob Quote
AdrianR Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Hi, first post here but I'm also interested in the Photo Workbook, once ready (having received an email today with the offer for the Designer book but that I don't have a need for...). My suggestion is that it would be a good idea to send out an email inviting people to register for notification at the time when the Photo book approaches publication. That'd save me needing to keep searching this forum occasionally for news! Quote
mistertimman Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 Has anyone got a date yet for the Affinity Photo Workbook publish release date? Quote

AdrianR Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Hi Men, thanks. Is it possible for you to allow people to sign up for email notification, specific to this book being released? That would be the most reliable method, especially if you announce the list being set up via your current email distribution list. Quote
InfoCentral Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Perhaps a sticky thread as these topics keep being asked regularly. Quote

rgcn Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Ordered my photo workbook this morning. Rob Quote
mistertimman Posted November 23, 2017 Author Posted November 23, 2017 I have ordered mine as well. I hope it has it has a glossary of graphical terms, such as chromatic aberration and other such mind-bogglers. That's the only thing I found lacking in the Affinity Designer Workbook. Not having an understanding of the nomenclature used is one heck of a drawback when studying. Tim Quote
mistertimman Posted November 23, 2017 Author Posted November 23, 2017 Can anyone in Serif throw any light on the release of Affinity Publisher. Any chance of that anytime soon? Quote
Staff MEB Posted November 23, 2017 Staff Posted November 23, 2017 Hi mistertimman, It should be available as a Public Beta next year. Toomas 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
mistertimman Posted November 23, 2017 Author Posted November 23, 2017 Thanks for your reply MEB. Next Year is only about 5 weeks away. Any idea when next year? Tim Quote

The program Help goes into quite a bit of detail about such things. Staff MEB Posted November 23, 2017 Staff Posted November 23, 2017 Hi Tim, We already missed a deadline before and as you may guess quite a few users weren't happy with it, so we are trying to avoid to be much specific regarding eta's. Hope you understand. mistertimman 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

They often have only placeholder code for as yet unimplemented features that does nothing or code that causes app crashes, serious memory leaks, or file corruption when called. In other words, that are not usable even for casual, non-criticals work. So why would you want to try running one if you were not a developer working on the code?
