Petar Petrenko
Please, when working on Photo and Publisher, do not make the same mistake as Adobe. They implement same features, like Text tool for example, differently and even with different shortcuts. It is very difficult to work and remember all these features this way. olafwelling 1 Quote All the latest releases of Designer, Photo and Publisher (retail and beta) on MacOS and Windows. 15” Dell Inspiron 7559 i7 ● Windows 10 x64 Pro ● Intel Core i7-6700HQ (3.50 GHz, 6M) ● 16 GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600 MHz (8GBx2) ● NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 ● 500 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD ● UHD (3840 x 2160) Truelife LED - Backlit Touch Display 32” LG 32UN650-W display ● 3840 x 2160 UHD, IPS, HDR10 ● Color Gamut: DCI-P3 95%, Color Calibrated ● 2 x HDMI, 1 x DisplayPort 13.3” MacBook Pro (2017) ● Ventura 13.6 ● Intel Core i7 (3.50 GHz Dual Core) ● 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 ● Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB ● 500 GB SSD ● Retina Display (3360 x 2100)

Staff Ben Posted November 27, 2014 Staff Share Posted November 27, 2014 Just to put this thread to rest - We have one main code base, and we have one file format - so there is no importing/exporting between our apps - you just open (or transfer) the file between our apps and it will just work - fully editable. We will also only write a tool once - and where it is used by more than one app it will be the same tool in each app. It will be identical. But, each app will have a specific purpose and have a subset of unique tools that fulfil that purpose. So, for example, photo manipulation tools will only appear in Affinity Photo. Now, you wouldn't expect Adobe to roll all their Creative Suite into one app, would you!? ronniemcbride and Jobalou 2 Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB

Staff Ben Posted November 28, 2014 Staff Share Posted November 28, 2014 Same here. If I only wanted the features of PS, I wouldn't want to have to pay the inflated price for an uber app that offered me tools I would never use. The separation gives people choice, and a clear purpose. There's also the danger of a single app doing more things but not as well as individual focused apps. You could even go as far as to say that PS in it's current state is far too wide ranging in its feature set. They've tried to get into too many markets, and the result is a little over complicated. I know from working in the game industry, PS was used for creating 2D textures - no one would ever dream of doing any kind of direct 3D model texturing (there are very good tools people use for that), but now we see basic 3D features in PS that don't quite cut it. Petar Petrenko
@Jobalou, Ben, Retrograde: Specifically in Adobe, after few years, they will sell us three apps (PS, AI and ID) with all the same possibilities but with different approach and shortcuts and we will have to pay for 3 apps instead for one. This could happen to Affinity, too. It will be better to pay, let say $100, for one app instead od $150 (3 x $50) for three. What I want to say, many tools will be not duplicated but triplicated like in PS, AI and ID and in PagePlus, DrawPlus and PhotoPlus. So, why to pay more? BTW, no one uses any app features for 100% without distinction of his/hers proffesional abilities.
