  1. Independently from the light interface, I’d, too, ask for scalable Tool icons – it’s not sooo cool to use iPad Pro 12" with a magnifier lens …
  2. Hi, working on a large format file (4 to 3 m), exporting takes some time, naturally. Is there any display (yet), on how far the export operation has progressed or (at least) which exports have finished and which are still in queue? As meanwhile the dimension of the final print was altered to 1.6 to 1.2 m I’d like to change the file dimension as well, but, alas doing this by “document setup” does not scale the effects. Any workaround for that?
  3. There is a Mac OS feature implied in many programms to access some handling of the document file via the titlebar of the document’s window within a software. By cmd-click on the name you see the full path of the file’s location and you can drag and drop the icon shown just like you can drag and drop the document’s icon in finder. So you can grab it and b.e. drop it to a finder folder visible in the background or place it in another open document window (if the target software allows drag and drop placement). Even easier to handle when using in combination with the programm switch (cmd-tab) or mission control. Neither is possible in AffDes yet – no icon is displyed, and nothing shown by command-clicking onto the name. I’d be happy to see this feature implemented in future! (attachment shows pop up path display when document name is cmd-clicked in Text Edit)
  4. When an effect had the „scale with object“ option set to yes, and later on you decide not (further) to scale it with the object and toggle the option off, the values are set back to the original values – I’d love another button to keep the actual scaling when turning the option off.
  5. I was uncertain whether this would rather be a feature request, but than: This is to my point of view such an elementary function long established on the mac, it just has to work: I am not able to copy pixel-content from Affinity Designer to another software, neither by selecting with the rectangular marque tool, nor by just selecting a pixel element from the layer palette. Neither any of Adobe’s CS5,5 programmes, nor Text Edit, Preview, etc accept the pasteboard’s content. Finder is just showing “Content unknown” when displaying pasteboard. Does it really not work (yet) or do I have to use another tool or menu command to transfer to other software?
  6. Just found out when falling back into photoshop habits that alt-clicking with the brush just does what I need. So maybe do not change the software, just the documentation? Oh, you might change the cursor symbol when alt-key is pressed so that we see and learn what happens!
  7. As the behaviour of the Colour Picker works as described in the help section, you will probably consider this as a “by design“ topic, but as the software doesn’t behave as expected and (to my humble opinion) is logic to behave, I’ll put it here anyway: I expect the picked colour to be applied as active colour immediately. Especially when picking up consistently several just slightly different hues to retouch an area to adjacent parts of the photo it is quite a hassle to find the colour palette, click once, choose the right pixel in the photo to pick up the colour and run back with the cursor to apply the colour and return once more to the photo to finally start to paint. And speaking of it: Give us a hotkey for the picker, please!
  8. I’d like to talk again about the first subject of this topic: I just had some point where I was uncertain about the proportions of a placed image though I use the shift key without even thinking when resizing sensitive objects. I thought it could have to do with changing between Draw and Pixel Persona so I was not yet ready to write a reliable, reconstructable bug report. From the linked topic I understand that the shift-key is not reliable to keep proportions as they were, au contraire on objects with “inverted constrained behaviour” it even kills the original proportions. I would really urge you to reconsider this “feature”! Please use two different keys; SHIFT to keep original proportions, and any other to break up from original proportions. It will keep us users from stretching something undesired and unnoticed.
  9. The standard colour you start with is a black, but alas, probably RGB-defined. When working on a CMYK-document the black has (b.e.) the CMYK values of C=72, M=68, Y=67 and K=88 – guarantees to turn out ugly on mass circulation offset prints. The start value for black in CMYK should always be 0/0/0/100! Thanks btw for keeping up with the user’s remarks.
  10. A bug or probably just a missbehaviour I found out, when copy-pasting objects from one document to another: The size of elements is defined in pixels – no matter if you work in millimeters or any other distance unit. So when you copy a box of 100×100 mm from a 72 dpi document into a 300 dpi document it will arrive with 24×24 mm. When you change the resolution at the document preferences, you can choose whether Objects will rescale (=retain metric dimensions) or Anchor to Page (=retain pixel size). I understand that this is partly a problem because Affinity Designer is working with pixel objects too, but from my point of view when working with vector objects/in the draw persona, the metric dimensions should be kept by standard.
  11. Disagree on tracking (that is letter-to-letter-distance on whole words, lines or paragraphs): Tracking is (should be) a style decision. When using small print, small caps or certain fonts it is advisable to increase tracking for better legibility. And of course, when wanted by design to emphasize something. Read Jan Tschichold, if you do not believe me. And thus it should be kept for the next text frame as well as font, size and other style values. However, kerning should solely be applied between two letters to space out the adjacent character forms to receive a level „Grauwert“ – a consistent type set with no holes (=too much white space) nor stains (=too little white space). So I agree that kerning should not be transferred.
  12. When working on a vector drawing with lots of elements it is usefull to lock Cmd-L those you do not want to touch right now. I got a bit struck and first thought it was bug that CMD-SHIFT-L doesn’t set those elements free again. I understand now, that you still can select the element in the Layer list and use CMD-SHIFT-L then, but to avoid scrolling through a list of several hundred elements it would be nice to have an „Unlock all“ command in the menu. I think, this should apply only to objects (elements), not to layers – what is the opinion of other highly valued foristi?
  13. +1 here – and you might prepare in the German version to come even exchanging the point with a comma for displaying numbers.
