Hello,

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the fourth build of Affinity Photo 1.10.0 for iOS.

If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.

This beta is an incremental update to the 1.9.2 version recently released to all customers (although it still installs parallel to the released version, as described above). We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the store version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.

I am assuming that this is the issue that I have been telling you about. I don’t believe that it has been fixed, made a bit better.

It is sort of a mixed bag now.

Please see video below.

There are still several open issues, mainly regarding handling of alpha channel adjustments and filters:

These issues have been reported for Desktop / Windows, exists since the first 1.9 release (>6 month, even if reported at a later time), and affect iPad, too. There are unfixed in this latest beta.

In principle, it is absolutely impossible to use any adjustment layer or filter layer which alters the alpha channel as nested layers, e.g.

  1. Levels
  2. Curves
  3. Channel Mixer
  4. Procedural texture (imported from document created on PC)

It breaks all advanced workflows depending on this essential functionality, even those used in Affinity's official tutorial videos. I would really like to get an statement from Affinity staff if (at all) and when we can expect a fix. I know affinity normally does not provide this information, but this really becomes an annoyance.

Affected Workflow from tutorial:

Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080

LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5

iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589

Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
