  1. I'm not sure if this is a feature on Publisher or not, but I was looking for a way to find and replace fonts in an entire document. Publisher is working great for pulling in PDFs and allowing you to edit the content. Better than anything I have used before. Currently I am able to edit manually, page by page, to change the fonts. I'm working with multiple 20+ page PDFs that need font styles and text sizes to change. InDesign has a feature called 'Find Font' that allows you to see all the fonts in the entire document and change the style/family and size. I wanted to see if this is a feature in Publisher that I can't find or if it will be implemented in the future. Even if this isn't part of Publisher it's definitely outshining InDesign right now!
  2. While the Replace button works well the Replace All button freezes the program.
  3. Hi I am not sure this is wanted.... I think its rather a bug ? When i have made an imageframe , positioned an image , in this case a pdf of a florplane inside, and i want to exchange it with new conted by drag and drop ! The new pdf file doesnt seem to remember the old settings of scale and rotation ....
  4. Dear all, in Potoshop I could use 'Replace content' for a image in a layer to replace an transformed and positioned image. So new image will get same transformation and positioning as the prevoius one. Just image content is replaced. Is there any similar in Affinity photo? Explanation: I have several layers. In the bottom layer I want to replace the image with another image of same size. How can I easily replace that? This step I need multiple times. I need to replace that single image and print the document, then replace the image again and print the document and so on. Thanks...
  5. Hi, trying to delete (by FIND AND REPLACE with empty replace field) the soft hyphen characters within a text pasted from a MS Word document, I didn't succeed. In case of an empty replace field, the "Replace All" button is greyed out. Is there an other way to do it?
  6. I like finding and replacing function. There are many ways to search for words, formatting or styles. Unfortunately the button "Reset Format" has to be clicked twice. In the "Find Option" at "Find" and at "Replace". Would it make sense to place one "Reset Format" button on the interface?
  7. Dear developer, I used a quick style change with find in PagePlus. I find a text, click on Select all, and replace style on paragraph styles window. Now I tried same function with find. Word has founded, but in Options menu of Replace with I see only my custom style only, no other style (Heading paragraph or other).
  8. I hope this isn't mentioned elsewhere. In my work with books and other documents, I use the find and replace opine in Indesign to find all the numbers as an example and replace the font with another one. I can also save this find and replace as a preset and if you have ever tried to change the font of only numbers or change all the quotation marks to straight double quotation marks in a 150 page book, you can imagine how time saving this can be. I am very happy with this first beta, there are already things I can see loving to use in my work and look forward to hopefully ePub exports, the ability to import large texts documents that will automatically create additional pages to fit the text, packaging files for the printer and likely a ton of features I never thought about but you guys will come up with.
  9. Looking for a color replacement tool. Here's my scenario: I import pdf file vector graphics from a music notation software. Unfortunately this program is unsuccessful in exporting cmyk-colors which are absolutely needed for print. With Indesign I could search through the whole document including all linked PDFs and replace any specific rgb-color with a cmyk-color. I'm totally not a fan of the subscription model of Adobe, so this feature would make me switch to Affinity Publisher. I'm already using Designer and Photo since Day 1. Replacement presets would be killer. Any chance that's a future feature?
  10. Where is the Find and Replace (text) function? Publisher help says there is one and that you find it under 'Find' in the Text menu. But I can't see it. Louismac
  11. Publisher has a find and replace facility. But it will not do what I want/need to do Basically I want to insert a Zapf Dingbats symbol into text using a different font. And I can't In adobe Indesign, which I would like to get away from, I can choose to use whatever is on the clipboard .e.g. a red coloured diamond symbol using Zapf dingbats, into a text string, in say Helvetica Nue For me this is a critical feature.
  12. Not sure if this has been requested yet, but.. I would like to see the Resource Manager available as a panel similar to the Links panel in InDesign, as well as being able to assign hotkeys to Resource Manager buttons like Replace (Relink) and Locate.

    Replaced Documents display broken.

If I have a rectangle masking an image (I'm using PDFs), and then replace that image, Designer shows the image has been replaced in the layers list. However, the old image will still display. If I interact with the image (scaling or moving usually), the program will jitter between the old and new image. Sometimes it will settle on the new image, but then click back to the old one. Since the image is actually gone, this is obviously a cacheing issue – does Designer maintain a cache of images for display? I'm assuming so. Above, you can see the problem: the two masked embedded images are different, but they display as the same (as a minor bug with either Serif or Apple, the select handles don't show in the screenshot, but those are the panels). I've taken to deleting and reembedding the image, but this is really irritating: I'm generating the embedded images from another program that produces consistent sizes, so I have to laboriously resize the image, which is a pretty precise operation, and really slows my workflow down: this is a core part of what I do.
  14. I am really impressed with Photo on iPad Pro, BUT, my workflow is strongly based on placing and replacing images. I can't find the context bar button – a to-come feature? Or am I missing it? Can't find any other users with this problem, so I suspect it's some place that I haven't located it.... Otherwise, it's going to get me buying an iPad Pro....
  15. Hi, so I have a PNG file. It is fairly basic, and has a large part of its background and some other text etc. as a single solid colour (A) that I would like to change to a different colour (B). So basically, how do I change everything that is Colour A to Colour B, preferably the easiest and quickest option if there is one! Thanks so much in advance!
  16. I use a tool to have a visual feedback of our footage and have optimised it to be able to right click open it in affinity. also i use it to drag and drop footage to the canvas or to oopen it as a seperated object.. We could need the option to drag it over an existing layer to replace it ! would be handy.. maybe togethe with a shortcut to replace it and in the same time use the new one as a linked Object (when this feature will arrive for affinity ) When dragging en external file to the canvas i would like a shortcut option to first popup an option window , where to drop it .. left , right, in the middle, wich scale or so... heres a short screenshot what i mean...
  17. Hi everyone, can anyone help us please ? In my architectural company, my Collegues have develloped a smart workflow using Autocad and Photoshop, to easily bring Changes, that happen all the time , Back to Photoshop... in Autocad they can print all whised layouts with the needed objekts automaticaly to a folder. in Photoshop they combine the plotted pdfs to a Photoshop document.. the layer in Photoshop get their colour by a fill layer, so they doesnt have to care about colors in Autocad and are much more precice and flexible to change their Photoshop layer to the exakt color they need. No i tried to reproduce this in Affinity Photo. Everything worked fine, untill i try to use the embedded pdf file to mask my fill layer. Affinity still tells me that the now embedded pdf , used as the mask for my fill layer, is an embedded dokument, but i am no more able to use the "Replace" Button. This is essential for us for a flexible autocad - or revit- to affinity workflow... it saves us about half an hour to two hours of recombining the affinity layout, using the replacd button.. but in affinity it seems not to work... any ideas, or workarounds ? Here i pose some immages..
  18. I'm loving using Affinity Photo on my iPad, it seems to be a great replacement for Photoshop, and I'm using beta versions with TestFlight. However, there is one feature that I really miss and forces me back to Ps eventually: Smart Objects. Every time I import a PSD file into the iPad Affinity Photo that has Smart Objects, the app recognizes it as a simple layer of pixels. I work daily with mockups, and it would be very useful to be able to replace the layers easily. I hope that comes to the app soon, thank you, keep up with the good job!
  19. I was trying to achieve pseudo image layers by mixing the Replace Image function with Macros. Here's the basic idea: Draw a red circle in some application (Illustrator for example), export that as a PNG image, let's call it circle.png Place circle.png into an Affinity Photo file Edit circle.png elsewhere so the circle is blue now Use the Move Tool to select the placed image layer inside the Affinity Photo file Press the Replace Image button in toolbar, choose the circle.png image again The placed image now shows a blue circle as expected This works great! Let's try to automate it with a Macro: Place the circle.png image, with the circle back to red Edit the circle.png file elsewhere so the circle colour is now blue Start recording a Macro Select the placed image layer with the Move Tool Press the Replace Image button, chose the circle.png image again The circle is now blue as expected Stop recording the Macro Edit the circle.png file so the circle is now purple Run the Macro You'd expect the placed image to change into purple but it remains blue instead It get's even weirder, continuing from above: Manually select the placed image layer with the Move Tool Use the Replace Image button to select the circle.png which is purple as you recall from above The placed image changes to purple as expected Run the macro we created above The placed image colour goes back to blue even though the blue source file no longer exists! If more details are needed do let me know. Thanks! EDIT Here's another thing to try as a follow up to the above: Restore the circle.png to red again Place it in the Affinity document Create another unrelated image, with the same pixel dimension to simplify, call it unrelated.png Edit the circle.png to blue Start recording a new Macro Select the placed image layer with the Move Tool Use the Replace Image button to select the unrelated.png for the sole purpose/hope of "clearing cache/buffer" Deselect the layer, and reselect it again, just to be sure the Macro will select the one Use the Replace Image button again, choose circle.png Deselect and stop recording Run the Macro Same thing happens, no image replacement, even with the extra step I'd think that trying to replace the placed image with another with the same name could be causing the issue, but that's not the case, even by choosing an intermediate unrelated image file won't help. :/
  20. Within Affinity Designer 1.5.4, I opened an Illustrator CC (.ai) file that was saved with PDF content. Within the "PDF Options" dialog, at the bottom it said I had a missing font (a Japanese font). I clicked on the Replacement Family popup but could not find the font so I just clicked the Open button. The document opened with all text that used that "missing" font converted to a generic font. I then choose the Text tool and selected some of that text, and I then clicked on the Font popup in the upper left. Low and behold, there was my "missing" font within that popup. Selecting the font made the selected text look normal again, albeit with messed up kerning. So wouldn't you say this be a bug? For truly, if the font is really there (and since I proved that after opening the file), the very fact Affinity Designer said the font was missing seems like a bug to me. I now have a related question. In Illustrator whenever this sort of thing happens, after I open a document I can then easily click on the Type menu and choose "Find font..." That opens the Font Font dialog which gives me an at-a-glance overview of all the fonts in the document, showing me which is missing (if any). I can then quickly and easily choose a font to substitute from the bottom half of that dialog, and with a mere click of the "Change All" button, I can substitute my replacement font throughout the document. How does one accomplish that using Affinity Designer? Surely there must be an easy way to tell Affinity Design how to substitute fonts throughout a document? Thank you.
  21. Hi, I'm very sorry for asking this question but it's been driving me insane in the last 2 days. So I have this png file of a bunch of icons, they are all black and white. I want to colorize them to make them super pretty :D Looks like this So I then: 1) flattened the doc just to be sure. There's only one, unlocked PIXEL layer 2) set the color format to RGB16 3) converted the ICC profile to RGB generic 4) selected a part of the (only) layer using the square selection tool 5) pressed the adjustement panel/button and selected "HSL" .... nothing happens. This is odd because it works just fine using a color image (I regularly change eye colors and stuff like that without any issue) So something tells me that affinity doesn't consider black to be a color, but of course if i try to pain over the black it doens't take the aliasing into account and looks terrible. I tried 'filling' the black space with a different color and that doenst replace the black either, it just paints on top (and badly so). So in a nutshell what i want is replace the black and all its gradients of grey that forms the antialiasiang to say, red with gradients of red. I hope this makes sense, again, sorry for the n00b question!

    Simple Letterhead Mockup

Hey guys, I just recently found out about the live perspective filter – how could I miss this important filter?! :o This filter is awesome! It’s similar to my beloved Smart Objects from Photoshop, if not better considering in combination with other live filters like DOF! So I thought why not share my first »just-replace-and-you’re-ready-to-go« file. :D In case you want to try – here’s the download. A nice and simple DIN letterhead mockup to demonstrate how cool this filter works, maybe it saves you time somehow. ;) You may need to further adjust it to your liking. Have a nice day Dennis
  23. Hi, I'm just trying out Affinity because it looks very nice, but I do have some questions. I'm used to Photoshop so please excuse me trying to get same out of the programs :P ,, Love that you can combine RAW processing and power of retouching tools. * I have some problems getting good quality out of your RAW processor with my 5D Mark III, Nikon D750 and Fuji's. Anyone got "secret Affinity ninja tips" to pull most out of the details and noisereduction and the tools in general? The tools I find on RAW converter feels like a hammer to a glass sometimes. I only have a couple day more on trial and want to see how it performs. * When filling a layer with 50% gray and put it to overlay or soft light, it should not affect brightness/darken the photo, at least from my photoshop experiences. In Affinity the image become darker for every 50% layer in overlay/soft light mode, is there a way around this? * Lets say I want to replace "Blue" channel with "Green" and set top layer to luminosity, how do I do this in Affinity? I found no way to replace one channel with another one, I might be blind tho. I try "Load to Pixel Blue" but I see no changes on composite layer. * I really want curve to affect a selected composite channel in "Channels", lets say I want to adjust the blue channel, how do I do this without making a adjustment layer? In PS you could CMD+M (CTRL+M) on the layer or channel to bring up a curve that will affect only "Blue channel" without making a new layer. Thanks for reading my stupid questions =) Aleksander
  24. What's the quickest way to replace a colour in multiple objects? e.g. I want to change all instances of colour A to colour B. For instance, in Freehand you could do a Find and Replace, or drag a colour onto the swatch colour. The 'Edit Fill...' option doesn't seem to change the linked colours. Thanks.
