  1. When I use the default white swatch or create one myself and save it, instead of H:0 S:100 L:100 (which appears as pure white), it saves as H:0 S:0 L:100 (which appears as off white). Step 1a: Click default white swatch or select H:0 S:100 L:100 on color wheel and save swatch. Step 1b: If user created swatch, select swatch user created. Step 2: Observe swatch is recalled as H:0 S:0 L:100 instead of H:0 S:100 L:100. PLS NOTE: HSL DATA IS SWAPPED ON THE PHOTO.

    Flatiful Color Palette

I wanted a base palette that I could use on my illustrations, with a range of shades, and highlights/shadows for each. So I made my own: It's a good starting point for illustrations, icons & UI work. There's more than 100 swatches, nicely organized. Comes in several formats, of course .afpalette included. Grab it over at CreativeMarket!
  4. Hi, somehow in between i just lost somehow all of my brushpresets, and most of my swatches but those of pantone.. This also happened somehow on another computer.. We use at the moment Affinity Photo 1.6.0.89. This looks like a bug, cant say the specific moment when it got lost.. in between the work later on i noticed something had changed, but cant put my finger on any special moment.. so how can i avoid this, and how can i get my palettes and brushes back ?
  5. Hi, So when it comes to colors, here´s a little suggestion what could be done to improve the workflow when you start your document and decide to use swatches and improve your colours. dont look at the design of my idea, rather look at the idea... When you creat colour chords, right now , you can select a colour and right click, select from some possibilitys like Complementary, Triadic and so on.. I would like a funktion to open a window like shown, get an optical representation inside of the color wheel and adjust my colors by just rotaiting in this example my colors, to change them, than just move some triangles or points, to adjust the amount of the color split, and than just klick load them to my palette.. only maybe, could it be possible for the program, to use my underlaying actual image, and interactive while rotating, moving and adjusting my Color Chord , somehow change interactive also the most corresponding olors of the opend image ? not sure how this could be possible.. but the first part, just creating color chords this way, as it is allready possible in many video edditing programs, would be an improvement.. maybe put it to your whishlists.. greetings
  6. Hi everyone, i was asked how to use the swatches pannel. i didnt use it untill now. So does there exist any nice videotutorial , to learn it faster but to read the help files ? thanks
  7. Hello, I've switch from the Beta to AD 1.5.5 and I've just noticed a bug when modifying color swatches. I've made a video so that you'll have all the informations (watch the swatches panel, the color disappears when modified). Here is the link: https://cloudup.com/cauCnm65n5G
  8. I'm working in AD 1.6. As before, I can chose the option I want in the Swatches pane under Appearance and the change remains. However, when I click "Fill" or "Stroke" in the Context Toolbar, the default is "Color" and there does not appear to be a way to change that. Thus, if I want "Swatches" in the Context Toolbar (in "Fill" or "Stroke"), I must each time go through the same process. It would really be nice to change this default to "Swatches" or some other option and have it remain so when I go there again, and when I bring up the doc again.
  9. Hi, TL:DR Set Fill / Paint / font colour change crashes the program when applied to a block image e.g. not a font. Attempts to paint the entire A4 page but takes 15 minutes perhaps more. Why does it take so long to paint a page. Why did it paint a page when it was only a small portion that was selected. Improve logic to prevent this? Hardware i5 2500K overclocked to 4.1gHz, 8GB RAM, 128GB ssd, Intel onboard Graphic 3000, 4TB ssd/plater HD, AMD 5770 1GB video card Creating another master piece and was just changing the colours of the fonts. I then clicked on a block of graphic image and clicked on that to change its colour. Once I did this the computer started to play up with the mouse becoming erratic e.g. not moving smoothly. This got worse to the point I had no response from my computer. After a minute approx I could get taskmanager to start and I could see that Affinity Photo was reporting it is "not responding" At first it was using 1% cpu and 1.5 GB of memory Being patient I waited perhaps another 5 minutes perhaps 10 and noticed that the program came back sort of. I checked taskmanager again and found that cpu use had risen to ~32% and 4.5GB of memory with 0.3% of disk activity. The entire Affinity Photo program screen had a transparent grey all over the entire screen. Normally when I see a program in this state I would conclude it had crashed. I waited some more and found the program returned to a functioning state however my entire image had be painted the font colour. At first I didn't realise it had done this but as I clicked on the image I noticed handles responded. I saved the file "which had ballooned from 2MB to 27MB" in this state and restarted the program and found the entire image was still completely painted in the font colour. I used the undo feature and managed to get the image back to where I wanted it. I then attempted to change the colour again of the block image and guess what it did exactly the same thing and "crashed" I took screen shots including the taskmanager if your interested. The saved files seemed excessively large as for an A4 size page. It is a very basic image with text a certificate of a swimming milestone for ABI swimmers. Thought I would have had this done and dusted in say an hour or so but I have spent a considerable amount of time on it due to the "crashes" and writing in this forum. Images blurred for privacy reasons.
  10. When I edit the CMYK values of the fill of a palette colour, AD actually deletes one colour from the palette for each value I edit. That was not expected. See this screen capture: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g8z69xqu0fh9yve/color_palette_edit.m4v?dl=0 In that case, 2 values were edited and 2 colours vanished from the palette. If I edit all 4 values, 4 colours are gone. The way all the colours vanishes in the background when editing is also unexpected (temporarily, though - a little scrolling does restore the ones that have not been deleted). AD 1.5.5 macOS 10.12.5
  11. I am having a problem with setting a default swatches palette. I don't think it is an AP problem I think it is probably my understanding of how defaults work ....... When AP opens it always opens withe Black and White swatches displayed. I have my own swatches palette that I use that combines Back and White and Colours in a single palette. I have imported this as an application palette. So can I get AP to open with this in place instead of my having to select it from the dropdown every time? I have tried setting this palette as default for RGB8 which what I work in most of the time. This changes nothing - presumably because until an RGB8 document is open it has nothing to which it can default. But if I open a new RGB8 document I still have to manually select the palette. So what does "default" mean here and how should I implement it? Apologies if I am being seriously dumb ............
  12. I would find the ability to import and export swatch palettes incredibly valuable. Furthermore, the ability to re-arrange my swatches by drag and drop would be very useful when working with large palettes so I don't have to be mindful of the order I add them in. Finally, is it really necessary to ask the user Are You Sure you want to delete this? Especial;lily considering I've already had to tap and hold on a swatch, only to be presented with a menu which then asks me to pick between rename and delete. Is the modal pop-up Are You Sure needed? - Along those lines, when in swatch list mode, a double tap on a swatch to start renaming would be appreciated. Little details which I hope would help make the management easier, fun and swifter. But especially swatch import please.
  13. Hi Ive just noticed that when clicking the double headed arrow in the colours or swatch palette the selected object also gets changed but when I use the keyboard shortcut X it changes it in the palette but not on the selected object? thanks Gary PS - currently going through the Work book and really enjoying it but on p104 it says this shortcut os is shift + X which doesn't do anything.
  14. Hi, It would be nice that if you open a document that has a document palette this palette would be selected by default. I know it is trivial but it is an extra step that feels really unnecessary.
  15. In revising my AD color palette I see no way to delete multiply swatches (entire sections of individual swatches). Am I missing something?
  16. Hi! I've been playing with the trial version of Affinity Designer for a while and I must say I'm loving it! However, when testing all the tools I normally use in Illustrator, there's three features that I often use but can't seem to find in Designer... 1. Pattern creation - In Illustrator, I can make any vectorial shape I make or image I embed into a pattern. It's as easy as dragging the shape/image to the Swatches panel, and voila. How is this done in Affinity Designer? 2. Gradient brush - Likewise, in Illustrator I can turn a rectangle containing a gradient into a brush. This is very useful to create graphic elements like tubes, pipes, and shapes with that appearance. Is this possible with Affinity Designer? 3. Live Paint Bucket - Does Designer have a similar tool? I'd love to know if these features are available in Designer, as I really want to switch to Serif and finally ditch Adobe's subscription! <_< Thanks :)
  17. As brilliant features tend to extend, I am increasingly worrying about some ordering of menu list items. Right now, they are just added to the end of the list when imported. For instance, the items shown in attached screen prints could benefit from some sorting (at least for me). Something automagically alphabetic would already work better for me, but ideally, I´d just like to drag them where I´d like them to be, so a manual way of doing it would serve me quite well. As an example, if you look at the long list for the pixel brushes for instance, I´d love to be able to drag all DAUB brushes to where I´d like them to be, all together close to the top but below the default ones coming with the product. Not only cosmetic AFAIC, it´s also that I just use some more than others. Thank you for reading!
  18. I always want to be able to save and use custom gradient swatches and they appear in any place where I am given color as an option, but as it stands I cannot. Gradient swatches seem to be unaccessible. I want to be able to choose a custom graident inside of the layer effects option whenever I see that I can change the color of an effect.
  19. As a veteran Corel Draw user, after 48 hours i immediately found Affinity Desinger truly fascianating. Its fast, smooth and im glad Affinity adopts solutions from Illustrator and Corel too, and im expremely happy that AFD is available for Windows already. I would be ready to change my workflow to continue daily work with Affinity only but there are few things i really miss. Please consider to implement these things: - Swatches part1: To me its awfully slow to choose the right colour of fill/stroke to an object. This is what i truly hate in Illustrator too. In CorelDraw there is a very simple way to do that: Palettes are always visible on the right side of the screen - RGB, CYMK or any palettes you want. Left click to fill, right click to stroke. It makes the procedure lightning fast. - Swatches part2: There is no way to work comfortably with swatches (saying as a Corel user). I would love to see them all the time on the side, and use the colour wheel only if its neccessary. Also i really wanna know what colour im actually using on an object. CorelDraw is amazing in that case. See the attached picture. Working with text: In Corel there is an option to move each letter independently in the letter boksz with the Shape Tool. As far as i know there is no option for that in AFD yet. These may seem small things, but it truly fastens the process while working on a complex graphic, without clicking a bunch of times across the screen. If u could make these options available somehow im sure more and more users would be ready to change to Affinity. Thanks and respect for your brilliant work, Dear Affinity Team!
  20. Hey there, Affinity Designer v1.5.2.58 When renaming colors in the Swatch-Panel, a complete different/wrong color get's renamed. Could not get the pattern why which color get's renamed. See attached GIF. Greetings, Johannes
  21. Bug in the name of the color when the palette is imported. Test Swatches.zip
  22. Hey there, what I'm missing so far regarding the swatches panel: - Easy renaming workflow of swatches with F2 and Tab, and to go further: something like Renamy would be even more awesome - Select and delete/copy multiple swatches. At least it should be possible to click/select and delete via DEL-key to easliy clear up the swatches - "remove unused colors"-option to quickly clean up a palette - usecase would be mostly the the document-related palettes - Convert already added swatches to Global/Spot-Colors - Ability to easily set spot-color-name the same as swatch-name and vice versa (without copy-paste, perhaps with a checkbox in the settings of each swatch) - Missing a direct "Add current color to palette as Spot Color" very much! - The to "Add current color to palette [...]"-Icons are not very distinctive. I would've added at least a big triangle in the left bottom corner of the button regarding the "add as global color" option to suit the appearance of those color in the swatch-list/grid below - Setting/checkbox/action to add swatches via "create Palette from document/image" directly as Global/Spot-colors. - Indicator to see in which Colormode the color originally was created and then have the ability to quickly switch color from RGB to CMYK-Mode and vice versa (perhaps even be able to determine the rendering/conversion while doing so) Greetings, Johannes.

  24. Hi all, I was colouring a set of storyboards in AP and wanted to set a palette for all the documents by using global colours. When I saved the palette from the first storyboard panel, and brought it into subsequent frames, I seemed to lose colours. Also, there came a point when I was unable to add any new colours. For example, I made a set of flesh tones but could save none of them, so I had to remake them for each of the nine frames. Has anyone else has this issue? This will very likely crop up for me again soon, so I'll need to nail this down :) I admit it could be my lack of understanding but some pointers would help. Thank you in advance, Kevin
  25. Hello everyone, So after importing swatches that contain a lot of colors (ase), I found that their name were screwed up wish is not a big deal as long as I can edit their name again. But the process of doing so is very long and not user friendly At the moment : - To identify the color -> Edit the fill by double clicking or right click + edit - Then you can rename it by -> Right click rename. What would be really nice, and I doubt it is a huge issue to do so: - Add a name input directly in the "edit fill" popup bellow the drop down menu for example If you still want to have the confirmation of the user because it can't be undone, you could add a lock next to the name input so people have first to unlock before editing. But at least, it doesn't require to leave that popup and right click on the fill to edit the name... It also solves the issue that when you right click -> rename and push enter to save it looses the color fill you had selected on the swatches.
