1. ## "Flip" and "Rotate" (menu Layer > Transform) should respect the Rotation Centre

Like the title says... Thanks! Best regards Eugen
2. ## Rotating a Document using Equations in Photo

Many options for rotation in Affinity Photo are constrained to simple fractions of a circle, with 15 degrees being the smallest. It is possible to rotate by an arbitrary angle using the Crop tool. You place the cursor just outside a corner, and rotate by dragging the two-arrowed cursor that appears. This tutorial explains how you can rotate an image using Filter > Distort > Equations. Before rotation you would normally want to expand the canvas so that you can give the document enough room to rotate. The new canvas width should be at least 150% of the existing diagonal and the Anchor should be in the centre of the array of nine positions. See this image: q Now select Filter > Distort > Equations. The top pair of buttons allow you to choose the co-ordinate system. The default is Cartesian (the usual x and y axes). You need to choose the Polar option. You now have two lines: r=r t=t The r represents the radius (the distance of a point from the centre of the image), and the t (or Theta) is the angle of rotation in radians.Radians are a measure based on pi, You can easily express an angle in radians as a multiple of pi, so 2*pi represents the entire 360 degree rotation, pi represents a half-circle rotation (180 degrees) and pi/4 represents a quarter of a half circle, or 45 degrees. So, writing t=t+pi/2 rotates the image by a quarter of a circle counter-clockwise. Entering t=t-pi*0.333 rotates it by a sixth of a circle clockwise. So, given a grid like this (after resizing the canvas): and using the equations as above, gives an image like this: which can then be clipped (Document > Clip Canvas) to give: . I have created a macro with a single parameter a which represents the fraction of pi. The default value of 1 will not rotate the image. Increasing a will give progressively more rotation; a value of 0.5 will rotate by a half-circle. In the example here, I have resized the canvas before applying the macro. The formula used in this macro is: t=t+pi*2*a. Here is the macro: Rotate.afmacro John
3. ## Rotate Canvas jagged lines

First of all, thank you for 1.6.4 release. I have this issue in both Photo and Designer that Rotate Canvas makes my lines jagged. In Designer my View mode is set to Vector and I have Bilinear as View quality. It is a real problem with thinner lines. I'm on Windows 10 64 bit.
4. ## affinity designer AD Parking disk - Beginner tutorial [German]

In this beginner tutorial I'll show you how to draw a parking disk with various tools and techniques in Affinity Designer 1.6.0. Although this tutorial is only available in German, you can hopefully follow the course of the video. The detailed table of contents in English inside the video description is hopefully a good guide for the single steps. Keep on drawin' Norbert
5. ## inpainting of selection after rotate using crop tool

Hi, based on a official video tutorial, i wanted to rotate a pixel layer by ~15 degrees and inpaint the missing edges. steps: open a picture (canon CR2 raw in this case) select pixel layer (but crop affects all layers?) rotate by using crop tool (in develop persona, or crop tool in photo persona) rasterize Select "half transparent" pixels press alt-backspace or selet "inpainting from menu" AFPhoto either does not finish at all after minutes, or shows irregfular results. In many cases, pixel outside the selected area will get black (or white). Tested with AFPhoto 1.6.2.97 and Beta 1.6.3.101, same results. Issue occurs only for some pictures, after some editing (HDR stack, curve adjustment, highpass filter in this case) Edit: Issue might be related to color format. Before starting inpainting, i copied the pixel layer and used "insert from clipboard" into a new window. Issue occured with RGB32, but did not occur after converting to RGB16.

7. ## Hide overlapping part of rotated objects in Designer

Drawing something by rotating is OK as long as nothing is overlapping. I tried a daisy (Daisy.afdesign) and cannot manage that the last leave at 5 o’clock comes on top of the start-leave = 6 o’clock AND remain below the leave at 4 o’clock. It should work using boolean function but what ever I’ve tried … only the wrong portions got cut off. Is there a way to have TWO boolean relations do the trick? The other optien I could only think of would be to apply boolean (DaisyBoolean.afdesign) and cover the not wanted green line at 5:30 via a hand-drawn orange layer. DaisyBoolean.afdesign Daisy.afdesign
8. ## Rotating an object and then changing its height

Hey guys, So, when creating an object, the rotation handler is on the top of the object. If I rotate the object 90 degrees CW for example, the rotation handler will be on the left. Now if I want to change the height of the object, after the rotation, I will actually change the width of the object. Is there a way to reset the rotation handler to the top? Thank you
9. ## Move Tool: Rotate without using handles (modifier key)

Hi, I am currently manually stacking a lot of moon shots. Thus i have to move and rotate the layers since the moon moves and rotates slightly. Moving wokes like a charm, but rotating could be a little better. Now I have to grab a corner node to rotate the picture, which makes me see only the very outer edge of the canvas. My suggestion would be to introduce a modifier key so I dont have to grab the node anymore, but could rotate the picture using the mouse anywhere on the canvas. This would allow me to rotate and check simultaniously. With shots like this not only the corner is of interest since the atmosphere distortes the pic all over the canvas and I have to check for the overall matching not only the corner matching. Thanks Matt
10. ## Develop Persona rotate bug

If you rotate an image in develop persona, then when you select develop, only 2/3 of the photo survives. This must be a bug? IOS 11.2.5, Affinity 1.6.5.61.
11. ## Develop Persona rotate bug

If you rotate an image in develop persona, then when you select develop, only 2/3 of the photo survives. This must be a bug? IOS 11.2.5, Affinity 1.6.5.61.
12. ## Pinch Zoom Rotate Canvas

Second day into using AP. (On a tablet enviroment) Looked around re my question which is “Finger rotate canvas / image” At best i can use the select image at the top is a handle use this to rotate image. What i wish to do is be able to pinch zoom in and out with the fingers, this works great thank you, now I like to rotate the image with the fingers please on an ipad, similar to say procreate. Can this be done ? If so how and if not can this be implemented in the near future up dates please. Regards Rob
13. ## Rotating View with Margins Visible doesn't rotate the margins

the title says it all...
14. ## Custom rotate multiple layers

I want to custom rotate multiple layers, I can find fixed rotational parameters, but not a custom one. When the Move Tool is used, all the layers elements are selected but the corner manual rotation double arrow is not there - see attached screenshot. I have tried using various keyboard actions with the Move Tool but to no avail. I need the multiple layers to all rotate accurately, so individual layer rotations are not effective and I do not want to flatten to rotate. In PS this is easily achievable, what am I missing in AP.
15. ## Zoom, rotate and move canvas without take fingers off tablet

Hello! I’m testing Autodesk Sketchbook with Wacom Intuos Photo Small tablet. I can zoom, rotate and move (in any direction) canvas with two fingers, without take fingers off tablet. It is very comfortable. Can you implement such feature in Affinity Designer / Photo (Windows)? I love Affinity software but I miss comfortable manipulation of canvas. Sławek
16. ## How to rotate an image

This seems a little too basic to have to ask, but the Help system is not helping. I have an image that I want to rotate a few degrees prior to doing some perspective correction. The Help entry says I can grab "rotation handles" but all I see are a blue outline with blue X's at the corners and midpoints. When I try to "display rotation point" I get nothing. None of the shift type keys have any effect. Is this one of those "can't get there from here" features that I seem to run into on occasion? Thanks!
17. ## Feature Request: Rotating object/shape using Mac's trackpad gesture

Hello, Wouldn't it be easier if we could rotate an object using trackpad gesture?. Current implemented feature is rotating view using trackpad gesture. So, to rotate object it could be like; click the object we wanted to rotate, then hold shift and do the rotation gesture accordingly. In addition, you could do the same with object resizing with zoom gesture. Background issue: sometime it's little "annoying" pointing the cursor to the right spot to get rotation control on. To sum up, we all know that Mac's magic trackpad is one thing that make it standout from other hardware interfaces available on the market. And every Mac's user loves it. So why we wouldn't take it to its true potential? Thanks, Regards
18. ## Designer 1.5.3.69 - rotate around base point

In affinity Designer, I can rotate an object using the Transform panel by selecting any corner point (or centre) and then entering the number of degress to rotate it. However there does not appear to be a way to use the transform panel to rotate around the basepoint which I can drag from the centre of an object. The only way to do this is to hover over the object itself and drag it on the canvas. Selecting the centre node on the transform panel and then entering a rotation in degrees should rotate it around the point at which i drag the rotation centre node on my object to. How can I rotate an object around a basepoint by a specified number of degrees? Thanks.
19. ## Rotating image does not save

I am an Affinity for iPad newbie after using Photoplus for a number of years on a Windows desktop, and I have to say that affinity is amazing! I am truly impressed with the capabilities of this app! Anyway, I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with and it is this: When I rotate an image, either by using the View tool or using the Rotate tool in the Transform Studio and then close the image it does not save in the new format. For example, if I open an image that is landscape, and then rotate the image to portrait orientation (using view tool or the transform studio) when I close the image Affinity does not save the new orientation. What am I doing wrong?
20. ## AP: rotate & crop as one function

I love the various grids on the crop function in AP, but when you correct image tilt and want to keep as much of the image as possible you have to fiddle with the cropping until you have caught the maximum rectangle. Maybe you already have a function like that hidden somewhere, but if not, it would be great if there was a function which could sense the edge of transparency itself and crop just before that. I would certainly help less gifted people like me :)
21. ## Affinity Photo - Brushes Will Only Rotate 180 Degrees (0-50%)

In Brushes > More, the 'Rotation' slider only goes from 0-50% (instead of 0-100%). This means brushes can only be rotated 180º, instead of the full 360º. For plain round or square brushes, this may not be such a problem, however for shaped brushes this obviously creates a severe limitation. As an example, if you're painting on a layer mask with a grass brush in order to blend an object, because you're only able to rotate the brush 180º, you can't use that brush for all sides. That's obviously only one scenario, however the same would be true for lots of different types of brushes, I.E. Hair brushes, fur brushes, arrow brushes, etc. where they need the full 360 degree rotation. Additionally, there also doesn't appear to be a way to flip a brush on the X or Y axis either, although having the ability to flip a brush maybe more of a 'feature request' than bug per se. Please see attached screenshot.
22. ## Rotated canvas saves/exports upside down

I've tried exporting, saving, sharing but the image I rotated in AP IPad saves as upside down in Photos, ICloud Drive, etc. even though it looks fine on ipad. Is it me or a bug or?
23. ## Decimal Places for Rotation, Shear and dpi resolution

Hi! Please Add Decimal Places for Rotation, Shear and dpi resolution (number shown in top-left when Move tool is selected) It can be useful and in many cases and make program more precise;)
24. ## Unable to rotate canvas with gestures while in Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 16

Hi, just installed both Photo and Designer on my Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 16 and unfortunately, I am unable to rotate the canvas in any way shape of form except for the menu rotation of 90 degrees and so on... Is there a way to rotate the canvas via gestures just like is done in many other programs? It seems to me that this should be a default behavior. Please advice if I am doing something wrong, or if we should wait for a bug fix on this. Let me know if you need more information. Versions: Affinity Designer 1.5.3 Affinity Photo 1.5.2 Thanks in advance.
25. ## Brush rotation to accept negative numbers

I am using Affinity photo trial to do some post-processing on stitched panoramas. To get rid of the occasional stich fault I am using the clone or healing brush quite a bit. To use them - because of the perspective you need to quite often rotate the brush which works well for positive numbers but if you need to rotate a brush slightly in the other direction you need to enter 358 or 359 - a negative number like -1 or -2 is not accepted. It would be very helpful if that could be introduced at some point - it would make work with the clone and healing brush easier. Cheers.
