Hi, Am using AP Beta 1.8.0.486 & found James' great video on adding in lens profiles. I followed it to add in my Sigma 18-300mm lens which was included in the profile. However, when opening a RAW file, there is no lens profile. Here's a screenshot showing the inclusion of the profile file, the lens itself & lens profile distortion box revealing none. Any ideas as to what I need to do? Thanks so much, Julie.

Hi, I started working on a photo composition again which I worked on some months ago. Last time I used this program before its latest update. But now the app is lagging hard, loads very long when I want to move any object or apply whatever changes, it crashes sometimes and freezes. In result the app becomes pretty much unusable and it’s frustrating. I’m using an iPad Pro 12,9 of the 2nd generation. Are there any fixes in sight or am I forced to get a new iPad now??

Hi all! I'm new to Photo, having switched just this week from Photoshop. I"m not sure what the setting would be called, but it allowed me to choose how much my paintbrush would switch between my primary and secondary brush colors. It could be found in the same setting that choosing how much hue jitter there is. I assumed it would be found in the same place in Photo. I have found the hue jitter, but no primary/secondary paint color jitter. Anyone know where I can find this setting? Thanks so much! Sevan

Please keep the entered search term when switching between the different stock archives. At the moment the search term is cleared and has to be reentered whenever you switch to another archive which makes browsing really cumbersome.

I've got a text in a shape (a double star) and I want to put it partly over a jpg. The shape sits on top as expected, but the text which should be over the jpg doesn't appear. The text outside the jpg appears okay. Publisher 1.7.3.481 on Windows 10.

Is there a way to show the recent paintbrushes used? Similar to how the color chooser shows recent colors?

When I try to resize a picture frame, the content inside the frame is also getting stretched/distorted. Is this how it works on Affinity? Or it's a bug?

So... first thing is. I love your software. I pay your software. I recommend your software. And I depend on your software! But... "Access to the document´s file was lost while performing..." isn´t something I don´t expect from one second to another from your software! I do save every 5 Minutes, and i do versions when software is new and project is important. But this time 8hours of work are gone. And I am trying to get help here for 3 hours. But maybe your are on BREXIT already ? - nobody is responding I did try every trick I know ... copy and save the file to another drive... rename it... open/ import it into designer or publisher... open it with one of the new betas... NOTHING WORKED! (missing autosave & Incremental save option)

I had been processing an image an image by making a selection and then selecting Refine selection. This created a red matte that covered my entire image, not just the non-selected part. I was able to paint around the edges and refine and use the selection. I then tried to print the image. and the red matte also appeared on the preview image. I exported the final image as a flattened tiff (closing the original). I then re-loaded it and went to print. Again the red matte was there. The image printed OK. You can see my final image under Share Your Work. John

Mac desktop apps. Running both up to date designer and photo. I read in the Affinity help sections that all Affinity files can be opened in any Affinity app. But when I go to open a afphoto file in afdesign half the layers are missing from the afphoto file. Back story I designed a vector logo in afphoto and just bought afdesign over Black Friday. But the logo is not importing 100% into afdesign. If I click and drag the missing layer from photo over to the design window, That won't work either. Any help thanks. MTN Logo Square 2020 Final.afphoto

Hi, For the first time I used APub — .502, I missed the last update — for a small project at work: a wish card with photo and a small amount of text for yesterday*. (I begined the project on ID, and decided to test using APub, importingthe IDML file). One of the most annoying part was needing to select "All pages" when exporting to PDF. The last option used should stay selected, or "All pages" should be the first option (= always selected), or it should be part of the preset for export. Unless working on small documents, the clients and we want PDF by pages, not by spreads, and it's easier to display a PDF as a book with a 2 pages view than trying to display or print half a spread! Please, modify this default behaviour. Another really annoying part: I worked on the photo in AP, and saved the Affinity file, and exported various stages of the images to test and compare. Thoses images cames from differents folder for this project, and I had to work on other images for other projects, with images in other folders too. Each time I had to check where I saved the AP file or AP exports, since Affinity apps are unable to propose by default to save a file or the exported ones in its original folder! It's really a pain. Please, the apps should by default use the same folder as the opened image/file, or, if another folder was selected for this file, keep on with this new path for this file. We shouldn't waste time searching folders for ours files. On opening a document with linked images, APub display an error message about missing images, but it seems it's not accurate. There's no missing linked files in the Ressources manager. Perhaps it should wait a little longer for the link to be checked or downloaded? Same problem with overflow when exporting to PDF. If those files or the overflowing text aren't on pages but somewhere on the canvas, those messages shouldn't occur). When using the "replace image" feature, please, don't display the new image at 2000% (72 PPI display)! I used 300PPI images, and when replacing one by another of the same size (variation) or similar (300PPI), it should be at the same size and position, no time to waste resizing it. After importing the IDML file, there's no choice, and the images are embedded. The same image embedded 5 times but with no modification, will be exported 5 times! It should be linked to the same file. Linked/embedded option shoud be an app parameter in the preferences, a setting when creating new document set to preference parameter, and if we open a PDF or an IDML, the app should ask from the start to link (and export if needed) or embed the files. The app should use relative pathes, and be able to retrieve the linked files if the folder structure is similar. I don't know why, but after importing a PDF, when I modified the imported project (single pages) to facing pages, the 1st and the last pages had the width of a spread instead of the width of a page. [edit] The app doesn't process well and hangs doing fast shortcuts for actions needing to display some info as in "ctrl+s" (save) followed by "ctrl+shift+alt+s" (export). Hey guys, I‘ve just startet working with Affintiy Photo and I‘m wondering if there is any option to feather the selection by using the smart oder the flood selection tool. There is an option for the freehand selection tool but I couldn’t find it for the others named. Sorry if you already discussed this topic. I couldn’t find an answere yet. Thanks for your help. Hello, I use Affinity Photo on my MacBook Pro, Retina running MacOS Mojave. I'm having problems with affinity randomly crashing, sometimes I can even start it, it'll crash right away. I can't really identify an origin,… sometimes it crashes when I'm painting fast, sometimes even when I was looking at the painting/zooming out. My ram should be fine, I have around 20GB+ storage space and I never downloaded brushes or any other plugin. Already tried to reinstall and restart my Mac. I never had that before, just in the last two months, of the one year+ I'm working with Affinity. I hope someone knows more, or at least can tell me if Affinity Photo has Autosave (can't find it anywhere), so at least I can breathe. Thanks in advance, Vivi

I just purchased the 7th generation ipad 10.2. capacity of 128GB. I plan to purchase affinity photo and designer for this tablet, but will this tablet be enough to run the progams?

Hi Guys, I noticed that the storage for Photo is now 11gb. Which is strange because both the Affinity Photo folder is empty and I don’t have any photos on the Affinity Photo start page / desktop. Is it keeping some kind of cache? Can I clear it someway? Thx H.

A few feature ideas/suggestions/requests that would be awesome, inspired by other apps - basically a wishlist for Designer & Photo as an illustrator. Here they are, in no specific order: Quick shapes, like Procreate - I can't explain the amount of time this saves. Essentially incorporating rulers into your pen so that you don't have to create a vector shape every time you want to draw one. Quick shapes really speed up the drawing process and eliminate the need to create vector shapes every time you need a geometric shape drawn out. Special Rulers, like Sketchbook Pro, and Clip Studio Paint, - drafting rulers like french curves, elliptical rulers, perspective rulers, etc. You can place and move a floating, transparent ruler on the canvas and your pen will automatically snap to it. Lasso Fill, like Clip Studio Paint - being able to toggle 'auto foreground/background colour fill' when using the Lasso/Freehand Selection Tool. That way you don't have to make a selection, select the Flood Fill Tool, and click to fill every time, the selection automatically fills with a colour. Dissolve Blend Mode, like Photoshop - great for comic art, gritty textures, and removing anti-aliasing to make artwork easier to set up for screen-printing purposes. A pro level colour wheel with colour theory options integrated, like Coolorus - one of the things I miss most about using Photoshop. Coolorus is a PS plugin that is far more sophisticated than the standard colour wheel and is used religiously by artists working for the likes of Disney. A Rotation Tool, like Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, and Sketchbook Pro. A big time saver. PS and CSP have dedicated tools for this, and Sketchbook Pro gives you a rotation pop-up window when you move using the space bar. Much better than having to select "Rotate Left/Right" every time, or pressing a keyboard shortcut, which also only rotates a few degrees at a time. External Floating View Windows, like Photoshop. Being able to save a second view of your artboard is already available in Affinity, but you're not able to remove it from the app window. It's great to have the second, zoomed out, view on a second monitor so that you can see how your artwork and design is looking in full while you're working on it in another window. Alternate brush views/display, like most creative software - having the ability to view your brushes panel in different ways, like brush icons, of lists with titles (like the Affinity iPad apps). I feel like these types of features will really open the market up to the likes of illustrators who prefer raster tools, as well as digital painters, concept artists, and comic book artists a lot more. Similarly it will also attract more 'influencer' type artists, as online audiences absolutely love seeing timelapse videos of the process - I know people who prefer painting in Photo and Designer, but use Procreate purely because of its timelapse feature to bring their audiences into their creation process. Affinity has really established itself so well with graphic designers, vector illustrators, and photo retouchers and editors already. There are of course people who love using Affinity software for digital painting, myself included, but there are also many who still prefer other software due to the lack of the aforementioned features. I've read about this on the forums, and elsewhere on the web, and also heard the same echoed by other creatives/digital artists/illustrators I've spoken to about Affinity. I feel that these features will open up a whole new market, and a whole new world for Affinity and users alike. Just some food for thought. Apologies for the lengthy post!

Aff. Photo v1.6.7 apparently allows to open .HEIC files. Strangely enough some can be opened and others not. I cannot see why anything in these files would be different. This makes me wonder: - is Aff. Photo for Mac v1.6.7 supporting HEIC for 100%? - what could be the reason some of these HEIC are not recognized and the following message is shown: "Failed to open file. Yet another issue with selection refinement. Refine selection with output to new layer is completely broken. Steps to reproduce: 1. Use the selection brush to make a selection 2. Refine selection witht the Matte brush 3. Choose output to "New layer with mask" and apply 4. Switch off the mask, the new pixel layer is completely destroyed. It shows the traces of the Matte brush Sadly this is just one more issue with refining selections. Come on Serif, you should put a lot more effort in improving this function. In the main menu, the position of Text and Document in Publisher is reversed from Photo (and Publisher Photo Persona), which is very difficult to use. I want you to unify this. Personally, the layout of Publisher is intuitive and easy to use. In Illustrator and InDesign, the menu positions of Format and Object are reversed and difficult to use, but Adobe does not fix it at all. I believe Serif will fix it.
