  1. Hello! I am using assets quite extensively across both Designer and Publisher. Is there a way to use one set of Assets that would be updated in any of the applications with as little actions as possible? Ideally like fonts are, i.e without any intervention - when I add anbject to assets in Publisher, it shows up in Designer as well. That sounds too perfect for me and most probably has it's serious disadvantages, but I wondered if there's some workaround. Maybe, as mentioned in this thread, I should use the Windows junctions functionality and have the assets updated after application is restarted? Regards, Grzegorz
  2. My Assets panel is empty, and refuses to accept assets, in both Photo 1.7.2.471 and Publisher 1.7.2.471. It works okay in Designer 1.7.1.404. I exported Designer's, and imported them into Publisher. Publisher now lists the category, but doesn't give access to the assets.
  3. A heap of my stuff- Styles Images and more Fantastic FREE stuff from the site Hosts and other members! https://affinity.graphics/
  4. So I am trying to create images that I can use as assets, not as a layer asset but as a vector image asset. But I am unable to do this. If I in Designer export to say svg or eps I get them as embeded document, and then I cannot save it as an asset. I have tried searching for this and seen many videos, but it seems I am not sure what the correct search is for this problem. I have tried creating all objects so they all become "curves" but that does not seem to help. And I do not want to raster it as that does not make it vector. What is the correct way of saving this as an object/image that I can use as an asset later?
  5. A lot of users, myself included, often create custom brushes and assets to use with Affinity Apps. With the release of Affinity Publisher (especially with StudioLink) I find it quite tedious to install the newly created brushes and assets individually into every app since I do switch between them quite regularly and need all my tools available. It would be really nice that when you install/delete assets and brushes in any one of the Affinity apps that they are automatically loaded/available/updated in the other apps. Example scenario: As an illustrator, I often create new custom brushes for projects. If I created a custom raster brush in Photo, but then needed to switch to Designer for vector work, I'd need to open Photo, save the brush, open Designer and then load the new brush in the Pixel Persona. Then when I switch to Publisher for layout, I would need to switch to the Photo Persona via StudioLink and reload the brush there too if I wanted to do a few finishing touch-ups. If I then made a few small tweaks to the brush, perhaps some small improvements (such as tweaking the pressure curve for the size jitter), I would need to repeat the entire process all over again. The same goes for Assets, and more. It can quickly become very time consuming. It would be incredibly useful to have a universal folder where the brushes/assets are stored so that they automatically update across the board when you customise or add them. Obviously this wouldn't be applicable on iPad, but I think it would be incredibly innovative and useful on desktop, and a huge time saver in anyone's workflow. That way you'd only need to load, say, a raster brush once in Photo, and then automatically have it available in Designer's Pixel Persona and Publisher's Photo Persona. Same goes for vector brushes, assets, macros, swatches, styles, etc.
  6. Publisher v1.7.1.404 - Windows 10 1903. If I 'click and drag' an asset from the assets panel onto an open document, but before I place it I realise it is the wrong asset so press the [Esc] key, I can't drag out any more assets from the assets panel unless I close and re-open Publisher. I can 'still click and drag' from the assets panel and the little grey box beneath the cursor/pointer shows as I drag, but no asset is picked up (not visibly, anyway). This only happens if I click the [Esc] key while dragging out an asset, so I guess the 'fix' is not to press the [Esc] key when dragging assets! Kind regards Tony

  9. I open my View drop down then go to the Studio option then open any panel and try to attach it to the Artboard and then the whole program crashes. I'm running MAC OS 10.14.5 (18F132). This hasn't happened until the most recent update. It keeps putting it in a mode where I have to boot the program and hold control to clear caches a lot.

  12. My Publisher assets panel seems to be empty, on my Mac Designer it has iOS 12 assets. - Does Publisher have assets included? - With Persona, Does it not make sense that these assets are a shared resource across all Affinity applications? Seems strange that clicking on the Designer persona, still shows no assets and I need to open up the Designer application instead. - If publisher just isn't seeing them, does anyone know where I should look in my system to find them? -Is there any location in the forum for sharing assets? Thanks
  13. I added a gradient map as a asset, and every time i apply it from the assets menu, the applied asset turns on and off while zooming.. when zooming out, the asset wont show, when zoomed in, it shows up again. When i export the picture while the assets is not shown on image, the exported picture is still ok, so its just the preview while working on the document. 14. Good afternoon people; I believe that, like me, everyone who makes patterns in Affinity uses the method to create Symbols > transform into Assets. At first I found it strange, but nowadays I confess that I prefer this than other software methods, especially by the easy editing of the Symbols tool. My only problem would be this: when it comes to replicating this as Assets, sometimes it's kind of annoying. I would suggest to the Affinity Group a Frame Tool option, similar to that of the Text Tool to facilitate the creation of Patterns. Something like that: the user selects his Asset as an individual object or a Frame; if the user chooses as a Frame, it selects the applied area and, as a result, the Tool replicates as many times as necessary to the appropriate size within the Frame Area. I made this horrible drawing/print to demonstrate, using the Frame Text to show something like I was thinking. Thanks guys, you're incredible.
  15. Can anyone tell me how to find the asset file (*.afassets) that I'd built up in the Beta version? Now I've purchased and installed the retail version not even the basic assets are showing, and the hundreds I'd built up during the beta phase have all dissappeared. I would have assumed that all information relating to any work would transfer, or be importable, as is the case with any other graphic type programme. The update shouldn't have resulted in data loss!
  16. Adding new assets to the assets window thing is pretty easy and slick, but, the search functionality is kind of unpolished. It has no margin for error, and it's even case-sensitive meaning if you type "horse", the icon named "Horseshoe" won't come up. Am I using this correctly? Am I missing something?
  17. The 1.7 update successfully imported my assets from the previous version but after dragged them or double-clicking them from the assets panels, they are almost double in size. That being said, dragging and asset out of the panel is a bit flaky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
  18. I'm working in affinity for last 6 months now and I despise Illustrator. I can't stop talking about how anti-intuitive is Illustrator. But they have an undoubtedly nice feature called package. It saves the raw file, the fonts involved and other things plus a report in a folder. Can we do the same in Affinity somehow? That report document is very important when we work for clients or with other designers to know what kind of colour space and font and etc etc was used on the specific project.
  19. EDIT: I don’t know why my post keeps being moved into this category, it’s not where I posted originally Hi guys, I love the look of the new update! But... I’ve been trying to do a couple of things with some shiny new Frankentoon brushes (https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/store/product/neptune-brush-pack/) and free assets from Enrique for a tutorial here on the Affinity site (https://affinityspotlight.com/article/how-to-use-the-new-isometric-drawing-tools-in-affinity-designer-17/) The app is crashing constantly when I try either placing assets on an isometric drawing doc or trying to draw in pixel persona. I haven’t tried doing anything else because it’s happened so many times now, I feel like throwing the iPad across the room. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Designer! It’s just so frustrating when I can’t figure out what to do to fix this I don’t usually have issues with the brushes, I have sometimes had issues with the app crashing when I use assets. I’m not even sure if it’s these things I’m using that are causing the app to crash. I have tried closing out of all apps and restarting the iPad, this doesn’t seem to help. I have also transferred any docs I’ve got saved in the app onto my laptop so that hopefully I’m freeing up space but that doesn’t seem to have made a difference. I’m using an iPad Pro 12.9 iPad Pro 2nd generation, software version 12.3.1, 256GB with 206.48GB available. Please excuse if I’ve left any info out, I’m still learning... Thanks in advance for any assistance! candice EDITED TO ADD: I’ve tried deleting the app and re-installing, still keeps crashing, even just changing a brush. I’m getting really annoyed now, I never had this problem before & really disappointed.
  20. Hey friends! I just created this lil pack of 30 halftone assets. Check it out! 30 Halftone Assets
  21. Hi, just wondering if it is better practise to create assets for use again as veftor or raster?
  22. I have a dropbox folder with something like 200 assets in svg and am trying to import them. Here is what I tried: 1. Created a category and renamed it - not sure if that was really necessary 2. Clicked on import category and navigated to my dropbox folder and nothing ... there is no button allowing me to import the files. Inserting each one by hand doesn't look like the way to go, I think. So, I clearly don't understand how this works or what I am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  23. Hi! New to Affinity and really enjoying it. I do have one problem... I 've been happily moving my assets into the assets panel/library; BUT, this morning when I restrarted it the various assets were a much different darker, more vibrant shade of color. Does anyone have any advice? How to correct the color and/or how to upload it properly? Thank you for any help! Bernie
  24. Hey everyone. Hope you're doing well. I looked through the forum for a couple of hours and couldn't find anything exactly on this subject, though I found some things that were similar. I saw that there is a media browser in the MAC version but not in the Windows version. What I would love to see (I've been using Photo and Designer for over a year now for all my editing and advertising materials production......Adobe can suck it) is a panel that I can open in Photo or Designer that displays assets that I use most often, maybe with a directory that I can set for the panel. For instance, an "Assets" panel that I can open in a tab next to the "Brushes" tab in the frame where I can access my screens, overlays, and backgrounds, would be a great addition to my workflow. I do a lot of photo background changes (shooting on a gray background and altering in post), so quick access so I can bring in and remove those assets quickly would be very helpful, and save me time. It would be much better than having to go into Windows Explorer to open them, copy them, and paste them into whatever document I'm currently working on. If I could right-click on an asset and paste it into the document, that would be a huge time saver, especially since I use the same assets most all the time. Anyway, that's just one idea I've had while working with Photo over the last year. Otherwise, I'm enjoying the software and I'll continue to support you guys as long as you keep rocking it. Take care! Tony
  25. Here is an OS X (El Capitan) UI Kit, which I sometimes use in Affinity Designer for Mac related UI design and mockups. The below supplied Assets file contains most related UI elements. - Note however, that all the included Asset are mostly build out of grouped together elements and are also very huge size dimensioned. Thus at least a document size of 2880 x 1800 pt is needed, if you drag them over and don't resize them. UI_OSX_El_Capitan.afassets
