  1. Hi, I'm having a problem in affinity designer: I have 5 artboards in a document, created at 1080x1080px choiced on initial size panel. On each of the artboards I have images that extend beyond the artboard area to the outside. And when I export the artboards in jpg I see a thin white line always on the left side of the exported jpg. And if i take de jpg exported and place in front of the background colored layer i see the white line, so is not viewing line problem, the line exists in image. But doing tests I realized that this only occurs on artboards 1 to 4, the first does not occur. So I change the artboard that I want to come out correct to the position of artboard 1 and it solves the problem but the other 4 artboards still have the problem. I don't use hardware acceleration and my version of affinty designer is the latest from windows store, windows 10 pro 22h2. If the problem continues I will be forced to have 1 document for each artboard and this is unproductive. Thanks for help.
  2. It's over 30 Degrees Celsius indoors now (no airco, all windows blacked out), but outside it was today even hotter and tropical.... so I decided to practise some more animation today in hot, but dry air as an excercise All graphics happily created with Affinity Designer!
  3. Every easter I make a puzzle withy cryptographic images. This year the theme was 'Birds'. Easter has of course long since past, but I just realized I didn't share my work here. I'd love to hear feedback if you have any. Everything was made in Affinity Designer! https://matth-ijs.nl/paaspuzzel/2022/
  4. Playing with basic shapes, transform tool and palette color HSL
  5. These images are available to view on my website:- https://www.johnchandlerart.com/ there are more artworks and animations to view there, I'm working on various more to do with animations that I also created working with affinity software. I'm happy with the results of these. Just click on the link. Please do check out these artworks and comment also. Always happy for some constructive feedback from some constructive critiques.
  6. Illustrated maps for village promotion and tourist places. Created in Affinity Designer using vector technique combined with bitmap using Concept Master Vol.1: Nature Brush Pack brushes and those created by myself. So far, for several maps, I have drawn about 200 objects with varying degrees of accuracy.
  7. Here I'm going to post some of my fantasy stuff, starting with this little object. It's for an imaginary world people who live there call Merilmaa (from Finnish words meri (sea), ilma (air) and maa (earth). Compare with Finnish word maailma for world). This object was very much valued, and not that rare in the early days of "Merilmaa", for it literally muted (for one using it) everything someone else said, that didn't correlate with truth or perhaps, one might say, weren't wise. How ever, it is doubtful this item ever silenced everything someone said, for all of us have some wisdom worth sharing. You just sometimes have to listen long enough to get some gold. Naturally people don't like being told they're wrong, so many considered this object "rude", if not a "false witness" or even "a wicked and extremely dangerous thing". Also people used these to bully others by claiming nothing they said was audible when they applied this thing, so it's use by certain kinds of folks actually became a real problem. After some time these things first lost their value, then became exceedingly rare, then got all but forgotten. A good thing or a bad thing? Perhaps it depends... The background is a paper I first made to look old using a method I found from wikihow a long time ago. I scanned it and have since kept the scanned image safe and sound, so I can use it again and again. This is the first work where I've used isometric drawing, and will probably not be the last one. For final touch. I made the colour mode of the object "darker" so as to make it look as if it'd been drawn to the paper. The runes on the little blades are of my own invention. they signify "S" "A" "N" "A" which is Finnish for "WORD". Using Isometric mode it was no big deal to put the runes on the blades. I think it might be nice if Affinity had an isometrics system with possibility for perspective (things being smaller further away from the view), but that might be extremely difficult to achieve in a user friendly way. Thanks for watching.
  8. Havn´t been here for a while, job and life taking just too much time. But recently I had two days and managed to fire up the Affinity for some aviation artwork. For a while now I have had a P40 on my mind and thought it was as good a time as any. So here is my take on the great P40 Warhawk.
  9. The challenge here was to get the facial expression correct within the limitations of emojis, especially the asymmetric aspect of the expressions on the face. Image on my site: https://vectorwhiz.com/Vector.html#emoji Rendering on top, vector outline view below. I get error 200 trying to upload images. Take a peek in my portfolio blog for emojis that I designed: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2022/09/emojis.html
  10. Hi there, How can I setup these thought marks to make them visually equal distance? (I don't know what is the name of these lines, but not list) Because of the justify, these dialogues lookings odds if slips the lines. It's looks like a double space but it's not. In this case, this is the exact character-> – I would like to add equal space to every – character. Thank you very much
  11. In learning to use Affinity Designer, I created the bee from scratch. The background was just something I downloaded.
  12. Hello, I've got an artboard with gradient fill and want to copy that exact fill into another artboard. Is there a way to do that or I have to create that fill manually again?

  14. So this is an image manipulation using various effects to create my impression of a creature(?!) mentioned in Finnish national epic Kalevala. Her name is Kissa Kipinätär, which loosely translates into Cat Miss Sparkle (I don't know what she's called in the English version of the poem). So here it is!

  16. I am trying to design a logo for a site based around renewable energy, so I thought maybe a sun and (UK) electric plug combined could work, ie to symbolise electricity generated by the sun. I am quite please with its simplicity but I have a feeling that although the sun seems obvious, the plug could be mistaken for something else, e.g. a grand piano! Doesn't seem to help even when rotated. Bear in mind this is for a UK site, so the three pin plug is appropriate. I'm currently working on an alternative with a lightbulb, but I'd still like to make the plug work if possible Any help appreciated, thanks
  17. Tabemashō (pronounced “ta-bay-ma-SHOW’) is a Japanese phrase meaning “Let’s Eat!” This particular piece is also my homage to the Japanese concept of “kawaii” - meaning “cute”, hence all those adorable little faces on the food decorating the ramen bowl. I’ve been kicking this idea around for a while now, and I finally found the time to finish it. Thank god it’s done now though - those noodles nearly killed me! (Weirdly, this is my second piece featuring noodles - see my previous piece “Kazuko” - I never want to draw another one as long as I live!) Hope you like it!
  18. Hi, I’m Nora! I made this topic to share my illustrations with fellow creatives! I’ve been using Affinity Designer & Photo little over a year now, learning new things every day! Year 2020 end, I made a choice to follow my heart and become full time Illustrator / Surface Pattern Designer 🙌🏻, previously I had been working full time job in Tourism Industry. Even though I always did different crafts and projects next to my daily work, I never felt the courage before to let things go and be a full time artist. So here we go, I post some of my works here, these are from the end of 2021. Also if you would like to see my works as a full project, I have them here on my Behance: https://www.behance.net/psnora/projects I hope to hear from you others out there, if anyone had also similar story with me or if not , it would be still fun to hear from you.🎈
  19. Let's share my personal used keyboard shortcuts visualiser for Affinity Designer. As you might have guessed from it's name, this tool shows up the ADe shortcuts in a more direct virtual keyboard style manner, locally in your web browser. For adjustments just select or switch to the corresponding option setting on top of the page view for your ADe version (actually included are reworked English and German shortcuts for ADe v1.10.5 now). Select your OS (Win or Mac) and the localized keyboard layout you use: You can also search for shortcuts via the bottom search field: DesignerCapture.mp4 To run it locally, extract the compressed archive and navigate into the "/DesignerShortcutMapper" folder. There open the HTML page index.html in your default or prefered web browser. See also the following note: IMPORTANT NOTE: Please read the in this distribution supplied readme.txt file, in order to understand how to setup/configure/enable for a webbrowser then local file:// access rights for running the DesignerShortcutMapper locally without a static HTTP server! - Though the recommended way is to run it via a http-server! Here attached is the compressed DesignerShortcutMapper_v1.10.5.zip archive reworked for ADe v.1.10.5: DesignerShortcutMapper_v1.10.5.zip Have fun with it! See also this related posting. 20. Hello everyone ! I'm new to Affinity Designer and I made two stickers as an example. It would be my pleasure to hear your comments. Thank you for all
  21. Hey! I am not sure this is a bug or this is by design but for me it seems to be an inconsistency. See the animation. If you hide an instance of a symbol all others get hidden too. I don't expect this to happen because if you delete an instance of a symbol all the others don't get deleted. Should be the same with hiding in my opinion. Sometimes I have to hide only a single or several instances of a symbol but I can't do it and have to delete it instead... Maybe this could be changed in future? All the best, Chris
  22. Hi, I want to make an object (green square) with a transparent hole inside of it. How do you do this? I can't seem to find the option for this So basically a square, with a circle inside of it, but you cannot see the fill of the circle as well as the fill of the square. So a square with a hole inside. In my attachment the circle is black, however I want it gone. Black hole that should be transparent.afdesign If I try to make the circle a mask of the layer, I get a round circle...? How do I inverse this? Removing the circle not the green square? Masked square that gives a round green circle.afdesign
