I have just installed Publisher Beta V 1.8.0.502. When I try to use the Designer and Photo personas the link does not work and I get the attached message. Designer and Photo are V 1.7.3 from the app store. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing post Publisher install but that doesn't help. Both apps link perfectly with the V 1.7.3 release version of Publisher so I can work with that fine for now. I remember in the past that linking between beta and release versions didn't always work. So is this something I should expect until a new release version of Publisher is available or do I have a problem? Thanks for any help.

It's very nice to edit embedded files in Publisher with only a double-click or with clicking the "edit document" button. But if you do that with an linked file, it opens a embedded copy you editing... OK, so far so good. But if you edit the original-file, all changes will be overwritten. Please fix that bug, that the linked original file will open by double-click or editing. Tanks for your great software! Thomas

Unfortunately, this isn't possible, sorry. The .indd (Adobe InDesign) file format is a proprietary Adobe format and is closed to other apps. However, IDML support was added to the 1.8 update for Affinity Publisher.

When I right-click on a .JPG image file, Affinity apps are no longer showing up as options in the "Open With" context menu under Mac OS Catalina (attachment 1). Even when I select "Open With>Other", select Affinity Photo, and check the "Always Open With" box (attachment 2), I get a dialog warning me that "macOS cannot verify the developer"... (attachment 3) HOWEVER, when right-clicking on .PNG, .GIF files, the Affinity apps appear in the context menu as they always have! Note: I *have* opened System Preferences>Security & Privacy>Photos to allow Affinity Photo to have access to my photos, but Affinity Publisher is the only app that appears in the list (attachment 4). I *am* able to open Affinity Photo, drag-and-drop the .JPG image into the editing window, work on it, and save it back out; I just can't open the image with a right-click. Would really like to have this functionality back. Is this an Affinity issue, or an Apple issue? Thanks!

Here is my latest piece of poetry laid out using Affinity Publisher. Firstly the Morality.wmf was placed and rotated on the master page with a whit rectangle covering it using an opacity of 75%. I applied an Affinity Photo live filter (depth of field) adjusting the clarity and radius and using an average blend mode. Then on the main page I used artistic text for the title and imported the Morality.png to complete the title effect. Centring and grouping the elements together. I then copied the text of the poem from WordPerfect X6 and pasted it into a new text frame. I altered the text style to body text and adjusted the point size to 18. I right justified the signature copyright line and resized the text frame so it just fit the poem. I then aligned the text frame to the centre of the page and moved it down by eye until it looked good enough, I used PagePlus X9 for the bloody filter effects as I couldn't achieve the result I wanted in Publisher. I really like the shape of 1.8 beta. But I would just like beg for a little feature if possible regarding text frames. I really need info about word-count, numbers of lines and characters.

It would be nice to be able to change the path of all linked pictures together of a Publisher project when modifying the localisation of the folder containing them.

Apologies if this has already been covered (I have had a browse through the forums), but I am a recent Affinity Publisher user, and trying (painfully slowly it seems) to migrate from InDesign, and have come unstuck with hyperlink usage... I am trying to insert hyperlinks at the beginning/index of a document which jump to specific pages, which seems an easy ask, but... (1) When I open the hyperlinks tab/panel, none of the hyperlinks I've created (which are all 'jump to page x' types) seem to appear? Have I missed something? (2) How do I set up a hotkey which'll allow me to 'Insert Hyperlink' once I've selected the relevant text and/or box/graphic?

Hello. First post here. Your app blows my mind everyday. It's incredibly intuitive. Is there a way to auto generate guides within margins? For example: Letter Size = 8.5in x 11in 8in x 2 = 16 Vertical Guides @ 0.5in per guide 11in x 2 = 22 Horizontal Guides @ 0.5in per guide Is this possible as of this version number?

Hello community, i have loved Affinity Photo and Designer. And they are now a part of my integral life. Saw Affinity Publisher promo on site. Can somebody please explain to me what can Publisher do that designer cannot. I am not a magazine editor or anything like that. Thanks in advance Gyan

Hi, I am working on a book project with Affinity Publisher and I have noticed many problems when I use psd images (imported or linked, no difference): -Alpha channel not recognised: if the psd has more than 1 level, the alpha channel is not "seen" by Affinity Publisher, so it is not possible to have a txt box following the line of the image, wrapping it nicely, but the program recognises only the shape of the image box. - psd with different levels, the program does not see the file as it should be: some levels are missing, some other levels are misplaced, some effects are not there.... is this a problem of compatibility? I am forced to save all files in jpg or PNG if with an alpha channel? Could you please give me some advise? I would like to use Affinity Publisher, it is very powerful, my books are very graphic. Adobe Indesign is far less integrated and it takes me more time in achieve everything I want, while Affinity Publisher is far faster...but, I I would like to use psd files with all the levels I need: in such a way I can change everything I want easily. thanks a lot for your help. Here is an attempt to layout my latest poem using Affinity Publisher. I used layer effects outer shadow on the title artistic text. Font use News 706. The word 'Interrupted' is in DTC Funky and uses an outline to enhance the text using the stroke function. I was opening a box of peppermint tea bags and I noticed that they were not actually labelled as peppermint tea bags but as peppermint infusion. A song started to form, the first three lines of the result. So I wrote them down and just continued writing as it came to me. My original intention - an intention still in existence - is to use it as a song in the novel that I am writing. Yet, as there are not many threads here for Affinity Publisher I wondered if I could produce something that might look good here. Here is what I have produced. William

Update: It's just happened again in my latest file -- my cursor hovered over Drop Caps and the application stopped responding. I've about 300 6 by 9 inch pages that are mostly text. (it would be nice if there were an automated back-up system, since this happens so often). The Hardware: MacBook Pro, Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013 OS: 10.14.5 Steps: I select a word on its own line, formatted as 'Body', and in attempting to change it to 'Heading 1', my curser hovers a moment too long over the 'Drop Cap' selection. This always results in Publisher freezing. Attached is the relevant publisher file, along with a screenshot showing when the application stops responding. Hi, I have problems with preparing file (book) for offset print in two colours black and P285U. In five places in the book I used image (like in attach), BW image with colour overlay in spot colour. When I export file in pdf this image convert in cmyk. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I produce a 2-side mailer in Publisher that generated a huge PDF. I recreated the job in Xpress and generated a PDF 1/7th the size. There are other things that I don't like in Publisher (too many layers are generated, for instance) but they usually have work arounds & learning curves. Bloated PDFs are another thing. They are slow to load and quickly get too large for conventional email. In this case the Publisher file was 4 times the size of the Xpress file. The art in both files are the same. There are fewer options, as far as PDF creation goes, in Publisher than in Xpress. Both these PDFs are intended for print. The point is that if Publisher generates bloated PDFs, then it is not yet a pro application. Or have I done something wrong. Viera Mailer #4 APub.pdf Vieira Mailer #4.pdf

I changed the font of some text fields in the master (the whole field, not inside the field). My document has already 16 pages, all referring to this master, but the copy text was already inserted. Now I changed the font in the master, and thought that the font change will affect all layout pages (at least those where I did not explicitly change the font within the text field). But this did not work. If I re-apply the master, all my copy text in the 16 pages is set back to the text of the master! Am I missing something?

Greetings, and good evening ... after searching for about four hours now for a solution for my problem ... I've come here, really hpoing, someone can help me with this. So ... I made a flyer for print, with all three programs, Affinity Photo (for picture editing and converting them into CYMK, after the original try to export the PDF directly from RGB into a CMYK file), Affinity Designer (first try to design the flyer, with the result of a "red tinted" pdf) and Affinity Publisher (same result). I can't seem to get the right result after exporting the file into a printable pdf. Always got that red tint, and frankly, after trying for about four hours, I'm done ... with this *PEEP* programs. I searched the internet for a solution of that problem. The screenshot shows the difference between the look of the file in Affinity Designer and in browser or pdf viewer. The file looks more "yellowish" in AD. I've also opened the settings, with which I run the program. As I wrote, I'm really done with this ... *peep* ... really. I've had the same problems when exporting to jpg files ore other files as well. Colours seem way off sometimes and I've read every topic about this as I could. There seem to be others, with the same problems. Maybe someone out there knows whats off? Best Regards Mel

The attached screenshot shows where Publisher froze ("Application Not Responding"). My document file is 2.5 MB and consists only of text. Also attached is a list of the files that Affinity Publisher has open (lsof on xterm), in case that is of any use. I just bought Affinity after the trial version corrupted a previous document and am hoping my new file is not likewise corrupted; I am afraid to kill it for fear work will be lost. Really happy with the speed of Pub 1.7.3 on this album cover for the Steam Kittens new release, although I started off the digi painting in Clip studio paint, I did a fair chunk in Pub using studio link photo using Frankentoon and Daub brushes plus some vector colour overlays - did need to use Illustrator to distort the SK logo and the colour wheel around the image but really impressed with the speed of using studio link on tonnes of layers
