  1. Hey Gang.. :) Having a blast learning A.Designer. This is my first take on a vector drawing. I'll show more as soon as i get the time to work on this :) Oh, did i mention this is ALL freakin' VECTOR? yeah.. the light rays too... that seamlessly blend with the background :O the biggest wow for me was.. a layer above every other layer, which has a gradient, noise, and overlay blend mode.. it ties everything together sooo goood... i think im falling in love with you Affinity -.- but i have a girlfriend, darn...
  2. I actually posted this on Twitter earlier today, before realising it looked a tad phallic, was'nt that bad, but once I saw it, I could not unsee it ;)
  3. Sunday afternoon illustration...(well and a bit of saturday evening too)
  4. My first masterpiece created in Affinity Designer. Behold.
  5. I'm still working on it, but here's a drawing of a Miura for you to play with in Designer. If anybody fancies improving it and sending it back that would be fantastic! :) Miura.afdesign Cheers, Matt
  6. So started playing with paint brushes today.....I vectored up a sketch I did a while back and played with some things - this is what happened
  7. I continue testing Affinity Designer. It's an illustration for the "about" page on my website. It shows some of my hobbies and important people in my life : my girlfriend, my dog, computers, sailing, cycling, travels, retrogaming... and obviously octopuses ;) i'm waiting hard the next release and new features. I'm in love with pixel layers, it's a real time saver ! And I really like having one and unique file with my vectors and my pixels ! Higher resolution here
  8. I have been using the Beta Affinity Designer and before downloading the paid for version of Affinity Designer I tried to delete the Beta AD App icon but it wouldn't delete. I then downloaded the paid for version of AD and now have two AD App icons. Any ideas of how to delete the Beta version AD App?
  9. Below is my first try at a Manga Girl's face. Not done yet. Helping me to learn vector drawing. One thing I think would be nice to have is a spray can in pixel persona.
  10. Sneak peak of the piece Im working on at the moment...It's got a tad complicated, but I have to report the software has not lagged, frozen or crashed once. So pleased with it, I had to finish a couple of projects in illustrator earlier and missed Affinity.
  11. First, I want to let you know that I purchased a copy of Affinity Designer from the App store this morning. I love this program. I only wish that you had released it earlier so I could have avoided spending $80 for Sketch 3 in June, but this is one of those events in life that is out of my control. It's great to own a vector program that is stable and isn't buggy. Now, my question is when will the beta versions stop working? I own a MacBook and an iMac. I have installed Affinity on my MacBook, but also need to use it on my iMac. I plan to purchase a second license, but it would be great if I could get another month to use the beta. Thanks again for the great product and making it affordable.
  12. Inspired by Matt's post i decided to give it a try and draw a Lamborghini too in Affinity Designer. Here's what i got so far:
  13. Had fun doing this, the new tapered brushes are pretty cool!. My Racing Queen was entirely done with RC-1. Minor glitches Had one freeze after: 1. using the top of the new tapered brushes, 2. then zooming in and 3. trying to select the drawn elements with a frame. Flying menus turned grey and the frame did not vanish. Unable to click anything after this, but happily SAVE worked like a charm. After re-opening some elements got an additional fill (all on the layer where I tried to select them) but with some mouseclicks it was fine again. Pencil tool: when drawing line is not visible - so it is still a bit 'try and error'. Brushes: I really like the additions, very useful. A bit of tweaking is needed for the Tapered Brushes. Sometimes, when drawing lines, the end of the line get's capped/ cut-off like you were using a square shaped brush. Tried this with different sizes and settings (velocity/ pressure/transparency): result is - the bigger the brushsize the more edgy your line-end. I also found the new brushes a bit laggy with the Companion Hybrid and the Bamboo. While the greyout of boxes has happened several times already I NEVER lost a sketch here. Find this very impressive. Some fully finished programs make me bang my head against the wall quite often ;)
  14. It's a work in progress, I don't draw as often as I should.
  15. Hello, i'm Clem, and young french designer for print. I discover affinity designer, because, i search an alternative software for Adobe (too expansive, and i don't want to be prisoner of the CC tools). I made some test with affinity ! and it's so cool, i thinks it can be a good alternative for the professional print designer, because there are full CMYK support and i hope later pantone support. So, this one of my test. An icon for my an fake app (i'm on the interface) for christianpiot.fr (print and web clients). Tell me what you thinks about my realization. it's an begin, i will upload the interface later off course ! Sorry for my bad english ;-) and ! i thanks you for read me. Icone CHP.afdesign
  16. Here's my first work using Affinity Designer. I've drawn this before, using Xara Designer Pro. But, I wanted to see whether I could do it using Affinity Designer. And to see how easy/difficult it would be? This should prove that the tools in Affinity Designer are reasonably easy to find and use. Well, I'm pretty pleased with the results! Hope you like it.
  17. Another fun piece, AD worked very smooth here. For the last layer some lagging of the vector brushes but not before. Minor bug: proportional rescale for export as PNG did not work ( not matter if I set it to ' lock ' or not ).
  18. Having used Corel Draw on PC's since Corel 2 I'm pleased that I've found something that will allow me to do something like the work I did on that program! This does mean I can get rid of all those Apps on my Mac that I have to work on just to produce some simple designs. The juggling robot is not my first attempt but it has allowed me to try out a variety of techniques (I like the way the gradient rotates with the object, something I found impossible in the last versions of Corel I used. I have my £35 ready for next month! juggling robot.afdesign
  19. So comming from an intensive photoshop and illustator background can be a handicap. Downloading affinitys shortcuts really helped. The program is more Mac like which means intutive. Here is a fun scribble where I focused on what the tools could do.
  20. Hello folks, Been practising with Designer and completed this wee critter in over the past couple o' nights. Still trying to streamline my workflow but practise is good (and fun.....) If anyone has any tips on how to make this better (especially the balloon) then I'd love to hear them. :D Cheers! 21. Oh, how I wish I had a Blend command. This would be so much easier. And the second part (still to come) will be a small nightmare without a Blend command. Am I being too shameless in asking for a feature using, once again, something I'm drawing? ;-)
  22. Exported the drawing as a slice from the A4 preset page size, that was exported by default as a .png. Opened it as a new drawing and added a white rectangle on a new background layer then saved as a new document, to preserve the effects of transparency that I had added to the brush strokes. Not perfect, but I am getting to the particular style that I've wanted to use since long before home computers were dreamt of :) Girl Sleeping.afdesign
  23. Still working with my brush strokes, I had some nice lines that I was hoping to turn into a background effect but at some point it went wrong (Lady in Grey 3) So I reverted to my original grey sketch and got on with brushing in some hair, lots of practice to get the right brush strokes, all good stuff Lady in Grey 2.afdesign Lady in Grey 3.afdesign
  24. Downloaded the latest driver and the Intuos 4 now does what it's told. There is nothing clever about these sketches except that they only took a few moments to do and it's the kind of work I've always wanted to do - but digitally instead of with nylon tipped pen. I've never drawn a cat before, but the fluidity was so good that this was easy. Now I can enjoy this! And I'm learning Mac for the first time too.... :) Catwoman 1.pdf
