  1. Dear you made me laugh so loud i couldn't breath !
Was in fact talking artificial intelligence ... not Artificial illustration :D !

Note that i said Serif team should bring progressively onto the suite, a step by step implementation is better than a one time load which often result in the whole thing getting broken.
But at this stage like i said, few stuffs would benefit of it such as the content aware fill, fill tool, pen tool all snap functionalities.
Making Affinity to be capable of learning from its users is a good thing, then shared stuffs would contain knowledge acquired from other experienced users who have made their Affinity even intelligent. it will transform the resource sharing by buying or installing a brush the user would benefit from new level of intelligence and reactivity.
i'm just thinking out loud, maybe this too much Sci-Fi but i think it is possible !

  2. Well, I have not a lot to say, the title says it all.

Affinity line of products have great tools and impressive functions but I strongly and deeply believe it is time for the thing to get an Ai.

There are great benefits from implementing Ai with deep learning.

Resize, crop, selection, tone map, snap, resources management to only list these can get great benefits from it.

Even most common tools such as pen tool, fill tool, transparency tool, defringe, haze removal, live perspective, blend/replica tool etc can benefit from it to.

Devs should think about and put something on the rails, please don't the 100% ready route implement step by step, tools by tools and have us to work with it and revert telling how it is doing so you can better it and deliver a top notch or next plus ultra software line of products.

    Blessings !

  3. Hello @edferg
Was just looking on how to Bump map with affinity photo and your content helped me to find it.
Well there are many methods but that one is okay and i like it thanks !

I think it should be brought to front instead of being burried within another filter, a dedicated bump map filter with necessary settings would be help full.
So if we want to add live light then we only add live light but we can just chose to make bump map itself without the need of passing through or by the live light filter.

i invite @Andy Somerfield and @MattP to have a look here and tell us what they think.
Well i use Mac but the settings are the same on both plateforms/

    Blessings !

  4. Hello everyone, Hello @KateM

Two things i've noticed that i want to raise here.

1- Affinity Spotlight website is stuck on Beta 162 of Affinity designer, so updates aren't fresh enough (see attache capture)
2- Affinity Spotlight doesn't have it sub forum topic at all, i do believe some folks here would like to give their inputs to help that place grow!

Hope you are still reading from here and will make things much okay for everyone over the web.

    Blessings !

  5. Whooow !
What a busy day was this day.
... Just tried some few stuffs with the latest Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher for Roberto Blake a great content creator.
... Got his photo from google images and ...
He is among that few number of famous and En Vogue creative who took it talked about Affinity, it was couple of years ago but he did it.
So i decided to start something new ... Photo work takes a lot of time for a person like me but i decided to jump far than i always do.

Please your inputs are appreciated !
Tell what you see that i need to improve with Photo.
    Blessings !

EDIT: The second picture was processed from the first one (as source) unto the latest Affinity Photo Beta 1.7.0.103 which was released few hours ago.
i put both here so you see and compare.
Thank you @Andy Somerfield for the announcement.
The Tone mapping used was made by @Hanan Edwards which i also say thanks a lot !

  6. Hello Everyone !

Glad to be back on this topic.
Was Off cause of learning purpose; now i'm back with this new project that i want to share with you long time before it goes online.
On this poster/flyer project i really wanted to make something different then what i always do and this was made possible by taking time to study and apply the few of the New Affinity Beta.

Hopefuly, Smarty is hosting a Linux training next month and i will be the host/speaker and teacher with couple of friends coming to join us.
I will take time to create some nice stuffs and maybe (i say maybe) i will schedule a discovery session for Affinity products !
No more words, please take your time and please your inputs are always welcome.

thanks to @MEB @MattP @Patrick Connor @Sean P @Mark Ingram and the entire affinty team for making this product so better and allow people like me to improve.
    Blessings!

    EDIT:
    @Serge R see ! this one i did it entirely RGB -
    - The First JPG file was removed and replaced with this new PNG as colors was darkish after upload -

  7. Well ! The title says it all, Affinity Publisher is missing/lacking of the essential Export Persona.

On a workflow like mine where i use Affinity Photo to process everything pixel, Designer to Process everything Vector and make them all converge to Affinity Publisher for project finalization.
So, 80% of my exports happens there because Affinity Publisher does it better when it have to print stuffs !
Please bring a shiny but powerful export persona to Publisher.

  8. Hello i'm maybe wrong here but i have not seen any revolutionary improvement with the tools in the liquify persona.

i mean, when using the twirl it is still so slow from the time you press till you see the real result, maybe i'm the one doing it wrong or using the wrong settings.
I did push the speed to max and changed from to all sub methods but still from the time i press twirl till i really see the final thing ........ see !

the other push stuffs are much better a bit faster, so i believe the tools in Liquify persona need to be refined and adjusted to allow much fluid work.

Please feel free to teach me if you think i'm wrong and direct me to any content that may find useful or helpful for my understand !

    Blessings.

Growth is good, but one can hope that icon size is not how Serif envision growth for the Affinity suite...
Or we will need bigger screens. O.o

Bigger screen is not bad at all. I mean, we may like or not but there's a cost for being best app of the year in the sight of giants like Apple and Microsoft, so I can understand the move and just Encourage Serif on their way to the top (they are not there yet).

Unfortunately whatever I say or think I can't pay the price they to pay to fit with all that is imposed or required to them from both giants leaders,  can just smile and make my shoulder available if there is a reason to cry.

See ! My position is simply a bit different.

  10. @Andy Somerfield i'm so happy to read this.
Well i'm off 6h hours enjoying the new beta on a project i started just to see how i can better my workflow with this new ones.
You can read what i wrote to the Designer thread so no need to repeat it here.
As soon as i get power restored, i will do the download and install then do the corrections with new released beta (while the only missing piece is a nex Publisher Beta), well all my workflow found its end unto Publisher for weeks now and it's a real pleasure.
Please, could you tell the Devs to add more Tonal setting in the tonal mapping persona? and also to check again what they implemented already it seems like the James Ritson stuffs are too
excessive and too much exagerates in they mapping (far bad than old final version).

BTW, will open a thread when i do my thing and have taken enough notes !

    Blessings.

I'm sadly missing any mention of an envelope distort for text. The transform mode for nodes could hold the answer, it is possible to pinch both corners inward at the same time for a perspective distort? I'm ideally looking to do the equivalent of vector Arch Distort, (see bottom example on attached image) . Is this something that can be achieved with the new transform nodes? I'm toying with the beta at the moment but don't know if I'm just missing something.

Thanks for the peek at the beta. I'll definitely play with it more over the next few days and report any bugs I may find.

    DISTORT.jpg

At this stage: Draw a line using your pen tool then bend it to match your curve expectations then click the Text tool or simply type T and bring your pointer closer to that curved line and you will see the text symbol apear with a ~ close to it, that means it okay, just click on the curved line then start typing.
Or go for Affinity Photo method but i don't know if it has become Non Destructive at this stage.

    Enjoy !
