chris.bannu got a reaction from user_123 in Fit to Canvas (Width, Height or both)
Hi guys,
Is there a way to fit an object to the canvas dimensions, without using snapping or using the width/height input fields? Like a simple option "fit to canvas width or height"?
Thanks,
Chris

chris.bannu got a reaction from DigGary in Gradient - use color picker tool
Hi guys,
It would be great if when using gradient colors, we could use the COLOR PICKER tool. For example, I have an object that has a gradient color. When I click on one of the handlers, to change one of the colors, if I use the color picker tool, the shape loses its gradient color and turns into the color chosen by the color picker, regardless of the fact that I first clicked on one of the gradient handlers. It would be great if when clicking on a gradient handler, and afterwards selecting the color picker tool and selecting a color, only the color of the gradient linked to the handler I clicked on, will be changed. I was actually surprised it doesn't work like this by default
Thank you,
Chris

chris.bannu got a reaction from PixelPerfect in Export design specs for developers
Hello,
What would make Affinity a preferred app for developers as well would be the ability to export specs, like XD or Figma. Affinity is far better than both, and this little feature, which let's be serious is not too difficult to implement, would make Affinity a lot more popular among UI/UX designers and developers.
Cheers,
Chris

chris.bannu got a reaction from SrPx in Learn or Hire?
I would say hire, design is not learned in 150 hours Also, design is NOT learned by watching tutorials, I've never watched a design tutorial in my life. Design is learned by practice. You don't become a great boxer if you watch lots of fights

chris.bannu got a reaction from AnalyzePlatypus in How to change angle in Gradient Stroke?
Hi guys,
Is there a possibility to change the angle of a gradient stroke? Can the gradient fill tool be also used for strokes somehow?
Cheers,
Chris

You didn't use the drop shadow for that, right? You used a blur/size/color overlay?
Also, how did you make the AD layout look like this?

chris.bannu got a reaction from hoaiduyentran in CPU temperature kind of high, fans going crazy
It's not a specific file, it just goes nuts on a certain file (could be any file) on certain tasks. When I close the file, the cpu calms down, and the temp returns to 34 deg Celsius.

Actually this is happening even if the app hasn't been opened for too long, I don't even have to perform tasks, I simply keep it opened and it goes wild. What the hell happened? Why is my pc sounding like a jet plane?
Just noticed that my cpu usage is 80% with Affinity opened.

chris.bannu got a reaction from hoaiduyentran in CPU temperature kind of high, fans going crazy
Hey guys,
I just got a new video card (gtx 1060, my old one was a gtx 750), got a new case (antec 302) which has 2 huge coolers (as opposed to my old case, which had only one small cooler), and switched to windows 10 (was using windows 7 until now). I noticed that if I keep Affinity opened for a few hours, the fans start going crazy at some point, and the cpu temperature goes over 60 degrees Celsius. I know that's not a lot, but my cpu temp barely hits 50 when playing counter strike go for example, so going to 62-63 seems a bit unnatural. When I close Affinity, everything goes back to normal immediately (32-33 degrees Celsius). Why does this happen, and is this normal?
Thanks,
Chris

chris.bannu got a reaction from romanholba in Export text to PSD
Hi guys,
Please add the feature which exports text as editable text to Photoshop, we really need it. This feature has been promised for such a long time, some of us rely on Affinity to export to PSD. I actually recreate the text in Photoshop, just so I don't have to work in Photoshop, which I absolutely hate. I'm pretty sure many ui.ux designers prefer Affinity simply because they hate Photoshop, but they need to deliver PSD files to their clients.
Thanks

chris.bannu got a reaction from digital in Affinity Designer Customer Beta - 1.6.5.112
I don't think I will use the Beta versions ever when the next stable version is released. I used the Beta version simply because the previous stable version was way too slow, but I keep downloading the latest beta version, and I keep getting into things I really don't like, and I make a living out of design and by using Affinity, I simply can't waste time with bugs and crashes. I'd rather pay 20-30 bucks/month for Affinity and have it stable, it's my main tool, and the Beta version is not an improvement for me. And I would gladly pay 20-30 bucks/month, I can't understand why you're selling this so cheap, it's one of the best tools available, and with the extra money you could hire testers, and not rely on the actual users. I don't mean to sound like a nag, but it's very frustrating, and even though there's a warning that the beta version should not be used for producing, you know we all use it for producing.
1. It crashed out of nowhere when trying to open a file (I wrote a crash report). No problem there, might be the amazing windows 10's fault, it's the worst os I've ever used so far.
2. Huge annoying bug: I have a text field, and I wanna change the color of a single word our of that text (artistic text), by pasting the hex value of the color. It used to work before, now it doesn't quite as before. I got it to work, but with workarounds. Still not sure why using the color picker is not possible when trying to change the color of a single word in a text field.. Anyway, I select the word, paste the hex code, and nothing. I click on the move tool, nothing. I click in another input field of the color chooser, and some weird color appears. I do this for 2-3 times before being able to actually change the color, and finally I manage to do that.
What I'm trying to say is that if you want to change the color of a word by copy/pasting the hex value of a color, that should happen instantly after pasting the color, so you wouldn't have to click in another input box of the color chooser to make it happen. It used to work fine before

chris.bannu reacted to Kaze in [AD] Convert Artistic text to Frame text and vice-versa
I'm not sure if it has been requested yet but it would be great to be able to convert Artistic text to Frame text because the text content doesn't always stays the same and for example, when you want to change a title to a paragraph at the moment you're force to create a new object (Frame text) and overlay it on the same pre-existing Artistic text.
It just takes a lot of time if you need to repeat this action several times. And then again, if you need to change it back you have to start over replacing paragraphs with Artistic text.

Click on the object
Reverse the path
Drag the handles
The orange one forces the new line, so move that too.

Just another vote for the option to lock guides. These small important features are the difference between a production ready application and a casual fun application.

chris.bannu got a reaction from lepr in Hexadecimal color code (improvements)
Hi Andy,
The hex value is heavily used in ui design. That's why it should be everywhere. Maybe Affinity Photo users don't care much for it, but for Affinity Designer, which is heavily used for ui design, I think it would be almost mandatory Also, the color options in AD are also awesome, so also having the HEX value for each model/style (I don't know what it's called) would be awesome
Cheers,
Chris
