evtonic3 got a reaction from Kenzor in Repeat Gradient Effect
In the Layer styles panel, I would find it very useful to make a gradient repeat itself when applied to something. For example If I have an assortment of colors that are applied to text, if it repeated the gradient I don't have to create an endless pattern of the same colors. With a repeat option it would apply the already set up gradient and repeat it across the span of the entire text object.

I love your enthusiasm. But could you share what you mean? I'm at a standstill trying to get it to do anything other than the obvious, which mainly is increasing the stroke width.

Please enjoy a short video about text-linked 3D Effect or shadows.
    Notes:
    - tl;dr: use symbols
    - for adjustments on shadow-copies disable sync and use layer effects only, then re-enable sync when you're finished
    - manipulation of fill/stroke properties while sync is disabled will break the link of the text content, i.e. if you change the text later the shadow won't update anymore
    - transformations applied to the symbol affect only the selected instance
    - transformations applied to the text inside the symbol while sync is enabled will also apply to other instances, i.e. if you stretch/rotate/... the original, the shadow will follow. However, I managed to break this particular link somehow while experimenting, not sure what the exact conditions are.

    Cheers!

The mitre setting on the stroke is not working when set to sharp corners and I set to a value higher than 4. Please have a look at it. Not having this issue on 1.8.4.

Can't get the FX to show in some instances. In this example there should be an inner shadow showing, although the fill is set to zero, I should still be able to see the effects being applied. AP 1.8.4 works fine when I do this.

    Hi evtonic3,
Disable Snap to gaps and sizes in the Snapping Manager if you don't need it (in complex documents) and it should work fine (no lag/beach-balling).

evtonic3 reacted to v_kyr in Matte Color Macro
For certain photos like street, casual wear, but also sometimes for portraits, I tend to use matte color effects if those shots have to underline some more urban style. It is an easy task to apply some matte color effect to your shots, though if you need it quite often a reusable macro is the way to go for this. - Here is one adjustable matte color macro for Affinity Photo, which you can reuse for such matte effects for either color or b&w images.
    BEFORE

    AFTER

    LAYERS

This macro creates three layers for you with corresponding layer masks:
A curves adjustment layer which applies the main matte coloring to the image, which lowers contrast and flattens blacks. You can use the mask (draw with a
white/black brush) to exclude/include specific areas from the matte color. For example you could exclude in portraits the eyes from being matte here etc. A contrast boosting layer which allows to give back a little bit of the contrast lost by the matte color effect. This is as default a copy of the matte layer with an
applied soft light blending mode and half lowered opacity. Again you can use the mask to remove or reapply certain image areas here. Finally a desaturation layer which can be used to lower the saturation of possibly still too bright colors. You can use the mask here too in the same intended
way as before mentioned for the other layers.

In these unique times, we want to help users transitioning to and from other DTP applications. We know that many designers are having to make budget cuts, and many are moving from Adobe to Affinity. We want to help you guys move your existing work to Publisher. So, we are giving away the full version of IDMarkz for usage through the end of May 2020. This is not the freebie version that locks out the IDML export; it's the full version with all features enabled. There are no charges or signups required to take advantage of this; it's how we feel we can help during these unprecedented times.

If you are already using the freebie version of IDMarkz you can use the following license details to activate the full version to be used through May 2020:

    Email Address: doingourpart@markzware.com
    License ID: bf2f3a43-8466-4861-b5e6-2e0e00e4ac83

If you don't have the freebie, you can get all the information you need to get started here. Please feel free to share this with your friends and colleagues.

We'll be monitoring how this pandemic affects those in our industry, and we may extend the free usage beyond May 2020.

Sorry Windows users, I can't give a timeline, but we are actively working on a Windows version.

Let's hope the pattern making capabilities are at the forefront for the devs this coming year. I hate to admit that the AI for iPad has some nifty ways of making them and also a very intuitive radial repeat function.

If you want a sharper effect, you could try adding a Posterize filter.

evtonic3 reacted to John Rostron in Perlin Noise a Tiled image?
It is not tiled. However, you could create a tileable version as follows:
Create two blank layers. Add a Perlin.noise filter to each.. Apply the Affine Filter (Filters > Distort > Affine) to the top layer with displacement of 50% for X and Y. With this same layer, use a soft brush to erase the horizontal and vertical hard-meeting area. Erase up to, but not reaching the edges. You can use a broad brush near the centre and a narrow one near the edge.  Because of the Affine filter, the top layer will tile.  Choose a suitable blend mode to give the effect you prefer. Normal may be OK. Merge the two layers. It should work because of the randomness of the Perlin effect.

evtonic3 reacted to hanshab in horizontal curves adj. to lighten/darken parts of a photo
horiz. curve to lighten/darken  use picker on curve

This macro sets up a horizontal curve with blend mode set to soft light.  The horizontal curve cannot see 50% gray when set to soft light which is what a horizontal curve gives.  Then the macro sets an HSL adjustment and sets the saturation to zero.  This adjustment is then set as a child layer of the curves adjustment.  When this happens, then you can see the original picture again.  The macro selects the curves adjustment. The user then uses the picker in the curves adjustment and selects areas in the picture to darken or lighten directly in the curves adjustment layer.

Would like to see the ability to manually select where the "Enable Transform Origin" can be placed with a single click plus a modifier key like ALT like Illustrator does. It's such a "drag" (get it? --drag lol) to grab it always from the center and then drag way over to the place I'd like to quickly place it.
