Filo63 got a reaction from walt.farrell in problem with the apostrophe in italian
Italian is specified as the language and the settings are the same as version 2.
I tried to put English in the character menu and the apostrophe appears... but this is a curious behaviour.
I checked the same thing in version 2 and everything works correctly with specified Italian, but also with English.
    Thank you
    Fabio

The exchange of files through pdf hardly creates problems. Obviously, if your work involves factors of very close collaboration, so your customers rework your graphics to the point of modifying their nuances or effects... you must necessarily use the same tools. When you work in a team, and everyone needs to be able to rework files, it is certainly necessary to work with the same software. Differently for those who work as a freelance and close their portions of work, AD exports in pdf with files that are clean and workable.
    This is my experience

I'm the developer of Typeface app for Mac — would love to integrate with the Affinity suite to get better support for font collections. Currently it's possible to drag and drop from Typeface to Affinity, but it would be nice to have your custom tags/sets in the font picker as well. Fingers crossed for a plugin system in v2, that would be amazing

Sorry but in this discussion there is something that escapes me.
For several years and without having read anything I have been able to copy the levels either with keyboard shortcuts or with the right mouse button. I can copy multiple layers, anything that is nested in the layers. I can also copy the FX settings which are pasted under the edit menu or with keyboard shortcut.
    I really don't understand what's missing.

    Hi Fabio,

Currently the export preview is only implemented for raster formats, which is why you're not seeing it for PDF or SVG

    Status: Beta
    Purpose: Features, Improvements, Fixes
Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer for iPad From App Store
    App Store:  Not submitted
    Download link: Join the TestFlight

    Hello,
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the Affinity Designer Beta 1.9.0 for iPad.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
This beta is significantly different from the 1.8.6 version available for purchase - we strongly recommend that you do not use this beta for real work as data could be lost and the files you save are not guaranteed to open in previous / future versions of Affinity Designer.
Thanks again for your continued support!
    Matt

    Changes Since 1.8.6

    - Fix for colour-picker not working correctly in brush tools
    - Fix a number of potential symbol-related problems
    - Text improvements - particularly relating to mid-word punctuation
    - Snapping tweaks - you can now snap to column guides if they're hidden and you have 'snap to hidden objects' turned on
    - Added hierarchical antialiasing control - accessed from the Layer Options view in the layers studio
    - New cat shape (accessible on Friday 13th)
    - Fix for printing of passthrough PDFs
    - Misc PDF export tweaks
    - Fix for Column Guides not updating correctly
    - PDF Import improvements (particularly around tinted colours and unknown fonts)
    - Application registration and content streaming (see post below)
    - Fix for pixel layers inside symbols occasionally acting incorrectly (painting may not apply to all symbol instances, items may transform oddly, for example)
    - Fixed sporadic crash with Pencil Tool (yay!) and hopefully generally improved product stability
    - Fix for artefacts occasionally noticed in the noise pattern while editing objects with noise on a linear fill
    - Enable image placement options in Designer (you can now choose Linked or Embedded)
    - Added option for Designer to be able to show/hide overflow text - particularly useful for text on a path
    - Fix for terrible rendering problems - particularly affected cropped items with layer effects applied
    - Added Contour tool.
    - Select Same / Select Object functionality. I'm happy to consider requests for extra options, so if you have a favourite, just say...
    - Improved performance with large documents. I will aim to improve this further over time.
    - Added a new “Divide” blend mode.
    - Allowed snapping to the bounds of the pixel selection.

working on product design I believe that everything expressed above is really necessary !!!  Often we have to photograph portions of materials to be mapped on the models but eliminating light and shadow strokes is a long and imprecise job ... having tools in this area would be very useful.  It would be really good news for the world of design.  There are many companies out there that are working on suites of very complex programs, certainly beautiful and powerful, but for many of us it is more effective to have what is written above in a daily use tool such as Photo.

    thanks

In this world we tend to give too much importance to the instrument, it is more important than professional that the man who uses it.
In over thirty years of work I have had the opportunity to see many people, really professional, who brought out splendid works from simple tools.
Often, very simple software from small software houses have the ability to solve specific tasks because they focus only on these while larger software must necessarily be generalists.
In the Adobe family, plug-ins have multiplied that had very specific specific qualities ... and as SrPx often writes, if you turn to the world of "3D" you will find out how many things change and change continuously, the rendering engines to give an example typical.
I understand that for many to scream or fear a non-professionalism of Serif's tools is a way to stimulate them, but I would prefer that the implementation of new utilities corresponds with the quality of the same.
Distortions, Warp and Perspectives are very useful but too often low quality tools, I prefer to work by hand until I find something that does it equally well.
In Affinity there are many tools that need to be improved, see the stroke expansion, which I frankly prefer to wait for than having a tool that works badly.
In the meantime, I discovered that Affinity has solved so many important things to me compared to my normal workflow, so much so that I have definitively abandoned Adobe after more than thirty years of loyalty.
