ashf reacted to NotMyFault in How to remove Moire?
A hard nut, but not tot bad:
the moire removal needs a curves adjustment to compensate for the contrast loss. Then, structures like dark lines must be masked out.

Like MEB said, that's a problem of Wordpress(actually not a problem but how you do.)
You have to upload the image that's exact size you want to use to pretent it to be resized in WP.
WordPress has the standard sizes.
150px x 150px
300px longer side
1024px longer side
https://wordpress.com/go/tutorials/controlling-wordpress-image-sizes/
You have to create the image at those sizes before you upload.

I just posted a tutorial how to reduce moire with Affinity Photo 2 using the new live bandpass mask.
Looking for test images which I can use for a video tutorial.

ashf reacted to Martin R_974 in Font encoding problem on PDF import
Hello,
I've got an answer in the french forum who tell me to put dark color in the character tab and change the width of the stroke to modify and do visible the text.
It's a beginning but it seams to have some other troubles about text orientation and access in the text zone.
To be continued...
Have a nice week-end🙂.

ashf reacted to EmT in Crashes when expanding multiple strokes
@ashf after further investigation I can see this is an issue we are aware of and it has been passed to the devs for investigation.
@AammppaaThank you for that file, I have found similar behaviour here. It seems to be a slightly different issue to the one reported in this thread, however I will log it with the devs.

Nice find.
I noticed that if I convert them to a curve, the problem doesn't happen.
But I didn't noticed the contour.

Omg that solved it. Thank you both so much @firstdefence @ashf!!
I used the contour tool initially to expand from another curve and did not bake appearance 🤦♀️
Thank you again!! You guys are awesome!!

I think I know why the issue is happening. If you look at the screenshot, the bounding box for the Hem is inside of the actual Hem line and is roughly where the Hem line ends up, the size is reported as 84.4cm and in the exported PSD file the Hem is also reported as 84.4cm when you change the units back from pixels to cm but now the bounding box is touching the edge of the Hem not inside of it.
In the exported PSD the bounding box is now touching the edge of the hem and is in the same place as the bounding box in the original afdesign file.
The problem is you have an unbaked contour on the ellipse, Clicking on the contour tool and setting the Radius to 0 brings the stroke back to the bounding box.

Same here. it's the same as in Photoshop.
I'm on Windows 10, tried in both V1 and V2.

ashf reacted to JethroC in Colour Format CMYK+White Required by Printer
@Print Monkey thanks. We are having the next version of our packaging labels for bottled spirits made.
Both the inside and the outside of the back label are being used. The back label is being made from "PP Silver" with the outside label printed on it, so my understanding is that they will use white ink on the silver surface. The inner label is being printed on "PP Clear" and then somehow bonded onto the PP Silver.
I've read the overprinting link once, going to have to read it again to get my head round it.
@ashf thank you. I think I understand what to do now. I will set the Colour Format to CMYK/8 and I will ask the printer if they have any preference for the Colour Profile. Then I will set a spot colour (might as well be a Pantone white) and use that to specify the colour of my white objects.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums
To all here
In Designer and Publisher you can now also swipe up the deselect icon (bottom left) and it will delete the selection (added in 2.0.2)

ashf got a reaction from PaoloT in Default setting with Japanese UI
Short answer is yes. it's ok for the horizontal writing format like in Europe.
But there are many small problems. I can avoid them with my knowledge and extra tasks though.
The most critical problem is absence of the vertical writing.
In Japan, almost 100% of magazines and newspapers are published in the vertical writing format.
So Publisher is basically useless as an app for commercial printing.

You can use the Flood Select Tool to select the same color. then fill it with a color you want.

Would be nice if it's possible to set the default state to show/hide the preview in the preferences.

ashf reacted to Frank Jonen in Remove the stupid export preview
Should be optional.
For my use, I compress from an uncompressed, flattened master file. Saves a lot of time. So there that'd hinder me as well. For people who want to go straight to final and tinker around with each image, it could be useful to wait around and fiddle. It doesn't even have a region of interest selection, you always have to wait for the entire layer stack to render.
I now shudder at the prospect of having to do actual work in Photo which also has this crap now. I have composites of several GB. If I have to wait for that shit, I'm done with Affinity. That's atrocious.

ashf reacted to MEB in Clip To Canvas and GRID version 1 and 2 November 20, 2022
Hi @Kent Davis,
Both your screenshots above seem to have the Display Zoom setting set to Larger Text. I'm able to recreate your issues if I set my iPad the same way. This is already logged with the dev team to be fixed.
Please go to the Settings app, Display & Brightness section (on the left column) and check the Display Zoom section on the right column, on bottom (it's the last one), tap the View button there to open a pop-up. Make sure this popup is set to Default. This should fix the grid issues you are experiencing. The interface will become smaller and I'm aware you need this option set to Larger Text for accessibility reasons but for now I'm afraid there's no other solution until we have a fix for this issue.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you. Thanks for your report/feedback.

yeah, I reported this before and I was told to resize it by myself.
but it should be shown without cut off by default I think.

I didn't see a similar thread, so I am starting this one to keep track...
I'm liking the specific Adjustment Layers Icons compared from before. It's taking getting used to the left side with all the information, but I can see it being more helpful at glance.

ashf reacted to visualrevolt in Serif Draw X8... I would like to see these tools in Affinity Designer v.2 ... and I would be more, than happy :-)
Hello everyone,
This is my subjective list of missing tools I would like to see in upcoming updates.
It will definatly speed up my workflow, right now I have to find a workaround, which sometimes is frustrating 😞
BTW:
What is your missing feature ?
