Waw, looking awesome. I just started using Affinity Photo and am excited. This project of yours convinced to keep pushing forward and give Affinity Designer a try! Thanks for sharing.

I see you’ve changed it very promptly, but it still isn’t quite right! “Stationary” (with an “a”) means not moving: the paper-related word is “Stationery” (with an “e”).
Don’t worry, you’re in good company. Many native English speakers make the same mistake in their writing.

You might like to edit the topic title: it should say “Stationery”, not “Stationary”. It certainly shouldn’t say “Staionary” as it does now!

    Hey folks!
I'd like to take a moment and share my latest work with you.
I was asked to design the logo for a security and guard dog service.
With this project I wanted to put the Affinity Suit to the test – and to no surprise it succeeded. 🏆
The vector-based logo was created in Affinity Designer, as the tools are closest to the program alternatives I am familiar with - but which have become obsolete by now. The letterhead and business card were designed in Affinity Publisher. A visualized use case that is more comprehensible for the customer was created with the help of a mock-up in Affinity Photo. Just in time embedded documents (aka Smart Objects) are finally supported, thanks for this fine addition, Affinity! ❤️ Finally I combined all the information in a little brand book with Affinity Publisher and thanks to the new possibility to collect resources (another feature that was highly anticipated) I was able to compile all my work into a nice and clean job folder. For me the current coverage of the suite is already very impressive. Of course, one or two features could be further developed or added - but for this project
(with one exception for the concept drawing) I never had to use a product outside the Affinity Suite range, which I think is quite remarkable.
Please feel free to share your thoughts on this one! 😀
Oh right, sorry – I forgot to mention that almost the whole document is published in German, but I guess you get the concept. 😅

    Hey there outgettingsubs,
thanks a lot for your kind words – but especially for your constructive criticism, which I appreciate very much!
You're right, I definitely could've aligned the subline a bit better. It must've been the curse of designers
lazy eye every creative gets after staring long enough at the same thing, especially after several iterations. 😄
As you mentioned, it looks more harmonious and readable with the increased spacing and in addition the subline
only slightly shifted to the right (which takes up and reflects the invisible diagonal line of the W/the seal even further.)
Therefore I'm going to offer the client a quick update on the project files.

    Great Job, Dennis!
Great choice of color/gradient for the security sector. Also, great to pick up the alignment of the "W" and angle the signet frame accordingly.
Only thing I'm seeing: Could use more spacing between WUNSCH, the line and the subline. The WUNSCH ends right at the top of your signet, so why not take the subline down to the angled corner of your signet and have a new visual line in there. (see attached before/after)

We've had a query about what is viewed as 'acceptable' content, and what our stance on it is.

This topic is one which is typically fairly volatile because everyone is so different and what is acceptable for one person, can be shocking or inflammatory to another. We don't want everyone to feel cautious about what they click, just in case they are faced with something they'd rather not see, but we also don't want to discourage people from sharing the amazing work they've been creating, so... We think the simplest, clearest thing to do is:

If you think your image could in any way be described as controversial...

    - Start a new topic with an appropriate title
    - Upload your image to a sharing site (Flickr, Behance, Instagram, etc) - you can even use the 'Share' link in the app's File menu
    - Write a proper description of your work in the body of your post and add a text link to the image you have shared

Now, if people think they'd be offended, they just don't have to click the link and they won't see it at all.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Maybe you could create a version within your AD file where all text is converted to curves? Then hide the original. Then you spare the extra step of exporting to PDF as Walt suggested.
You could keep these seperate in two folder layers. One contains the original design, the other contains the vector only version. This should not be too much of organisation.
I assume hidden layers will not get exported from APub.

It seems like a reasonable rquest, Dennis.
But for now you may need to Export the Designer document with the logo as a PDF, with the fonts converted to curves, and Link the PDF from the Publisher document. If changes are needed, then update the logo Designer document, and re-export as PDF, and the Publisher document will pick up that change.

This is actually by design, but I am logging an improvement in this area as we should just be able to copy the file from it's original linked location to the new collected location.
We will struggle if it's an embedded PDF, as we store our "imported" version of the PDF and not the original.

I am pretty thrilled about the collect feature to consolidate links. However, any PDFs that I have linked in can not be collected. As soon as I select one of those files under resource manager the collect button is greyed out. As someone in the AEC industry, we need to be able to "collect" PDF files.

    Hi,
Currently Publisher does not support clipping paths that are in embedded in files such as JPG (before everyone jumps in saying that JPG doesn't support transparency, they do if the option to convert clips to paths is selected when exporting )
It is a bit of a workaround to use them at the moment, make sure your image is linked, then edit image...
Problem: the image is fine, you can see the path nested under the image if you expand the layers, you need to save as to update the file, fine except it roughly quadruples the original file size, update the link and the clipping path works as expected. If you just make a minor change like renaming the layer to enable the save the image, it may look like it has worked but the area that should be transparent is actually white. If you edit this revised file...the clipping path is still there.
The easiest way that I have found so far is just to edit the image, copy the layer with it's clipping path then paste into Publisher, it works well.
Life will be so much easier when clipping paths are recognised so that when the image is placed, the clipping path works as expected without having to follow any extra steps or saving larger than necessary files that eventually bloat the document.
For those that still do not believe that JPG can contain transparency I have attached a quick example, it had to be zipped to prevent the forum from messing with the file
