kmh200 Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) There is a issue in affinity publisher V1.8 windows version - create a new afpub file - insert a jpg file. - save and close the afpub file - change the jpg file outside affinity publisher. - load the afpub file. => afpub file can not be loaded. affinity publisher crashed Edited March 7, 2020 by kmh200 Quote
ReneNL Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 yep tested and you are correct. With all these bugs in 1.8 i am considering not to use Affinity for upcoming new projects. I guess all will be solved but.....there must be a lessons learned with new software releases...... I am an Affinity fan! Quote
kmh200 Posted March 7, 2020 Author Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) I found a workaround. - create a new afpub document or load a loadable afpub file (don't close it). - load the afpub file with linked jpg what has been changed. - afpub can now load this afpub file and displays the message "linked resource changed". - update the linked jpg in "resource manager". - save the afpub file. The afpub file is now ok. It can be closed and loaded again. Edited March 7, 2020 by kmh200 NilsFinken 1 Quote

Mr. Doodlezz Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Hey guys, is this bug related? This is the crash I'm getting: Place a PNG-file, linked Leave Affinity Publisher document open Change/update the PNG outside of Affinity Publisher Affinity Publisher tries to update linked resource, results in crash My guess is it's related to the setting »Automatically update linked resources when modified externally«? Greetings MrDoodlezz Quote
Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 8, 2020 Staff Posted March 8, 2020 Yes this is exactly the problem @MrDoodlezz, editing a linked file outside of the application is unstable at the moment Mr. Doodlezz 1 Quote Patrick Connor Serif Europe Ltd Latest V2 releases on each platform Help make our apps better by joining our beta program!
