Agreed A standard tab width and fix the tab order! If you load (say) 4 files the right most is active but if you close it, the farthest to the LEFT is active A small tweak would solve the confusion

No, if you create text in Photo and then zoom in, it will appear pixellated. This is expected.

If the effect is the same, it sounds like it's been rasterised. If you create text in Photo, then zoom in, it will pixellate, but if you save the file and open it in Designer, it should be smooth.

+1. When I load several files the farthest to the right is open. When I close that file it jumps back to the farthest to the left. Paintshop just works them from the farthest to the right leftward
Tabbing issue and goes along with a more distinctive color. Having to hunt for the file breaks workflow

Run the Windows app and it will automatically find the update and prompt to install. OR if you want to squirrel away a copy, log into your account and press download on your order history. There is no incremental patch, only the full download as always.
For Affinity apps on the Mac, use the Mac store Updates option.

Yes, Affinity Designer/Photo 1.6 will open files created in previous versions.

Sincs AP sadly enough does not support assets like AD I'm transfering my pictures for the last step to AD to add my logo (saved as an asset). It would be great if AP would automatically set the focus to AD after selecting the "Edit in Designer" command so I can continuosly be working on the document - instead of showing the empty AP program framework.

This forum is  not "the right place" and it goes against the guidelines a bit, but we do encourage honest discussion and comparisons so we tend to overlook some gushing about other people's apps, unlike some other forums.

However  this is a beta thread, and this is certainly not the right place for any more non-beta discussions

Frankly spoken, it seems to me that some of you guys have forgotten that this is an Affinity forum and probably not the right place to discuss, advertise and worship other companies products ...
    Just my 2 cents ...

I think you just need to be aware of the differences between the 'Image' layers and 'Pixel' Layers. Image layers cannot be edited like 'Pixel' layers can. To ensure you can edit these normally just right click and select 'Rasterise'.

So I can reproduce what you are seeing in the video, but ONLY with the following tools:
Healing Brush Tool Patch Tool Blemish Removal Tool Inpainting Brush Tool Red Eye Removal Tool As I said previously in your video you are using them on an 'Image' layer (Using File > Place will give you an 'Image' layer) , these are slightly different to 'Pixel' layers (Using File > Open and opening a JPG will open it as a 'Pixel' Layer). The tools listed above will only work on 'Pixel' layers (because they're layers that contain the actual pixel data, and not just an embedded file).

Now other tools, such as the Paint Brush, Erase Brush, Dodge/Burn Brush and Clone Brush will automatically convert these 'Image' to 'Pixel' layers based on the settings in your Assistant Manager (as I previously mentioned). However the Inpainting Tool (and all the others found on that flyout) ignore your assistants setting and will never convert to a pixel layer which is what I believe the bug to be.

I will get this passed onto development to see if this is a bug, or a limitation of 'Image' Layers.
    Does this description make sense?

This inconsistent behaviour has been discussed a few times in other threads. Ideally there would be a Preferences setting for 'Always convert' or 'Always warn', but it's really unhelpful to have the program silently do nothing when an Image layer is selected and the current tool only works on a Pixel layer.

I don't disbelieve you, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of what is actually happening. We cannot go to development and just tell them 'the tools have broken can you fix it?'. We have to get to the bottom and find out what it is that causes them to stop working.

    Hi Rick,

Unfortunately I'm still unable to reproduce this issue. Using both Before and After copies of AppData. Once it goes wrong for you can you open a different image and does that also fail? Have you tried using Alt to reposition the clone point when it stops working?

Are you able to do a screen recording showing the issue please?

There are rotation options (with steps of 15 degrees instead of 90 degrees) on  the View menu in the Develop Persona.

    Hi Sven Kalkschmidt,
Can you please upload the afdesign file that's exporting incorrectly using this link so we can take a look?
    Thanks.

Rick G reacted to MEB in Convert To Curves disabled.
That's because the user in the video is converting an Image layer type, while you are trying to convert a Pixel layer type (look at the label between parenthesis after the layer's name in the Layers panel). This command is not available for Pixel layers.
Rather than opening the image using File ▸ Open, which will open it as a pixel layer you have to use the File ▸ Place command to insert the image in your document as an Image layer type. So to "fix" this, go to File ▸ Place, select the same image and click on canvas to place it in the document. Then Enable Snapping in the main toolbar (the magnet icon), click on the small arrow on its right and make sure Snap to object bounding boxes is checked, change to the Move Tool and scale you image from the corners and reposition it until it matches you current image scale and position on canvas (the snapping will help you align both easily). Finally delete the original image and proceed to convert it to curves as explained in the video.

    Hi Proshot69

As previously replied, the focus stacking is working the same for me here. this may be specific to the files or type of files you are using. Would you be able to upload the files you are having issues with using this link so we can look into the issue for you.

Are you also able to expand on your layer problem? can you give an detailed steps or screenshots/video of what you are seeing and expecting to see?

    Thanks

+1 Me too.  Highlighting the active tab is important but I would also like to see the tab width fit the length of the filename or have a default minimum.  Right now, it seems to act like Safari with the "Close X" way over to the right whereas I would much prefer the Chrome or Photoshop layout which is far more friendly.

    Hey Fion Noir,

Unfortunately not yet. The bug was only reported less than 2 weeks ago and although it is with development, it hasn't been resolved yet. They are currently working  hard on fixing critical stability issues for the 1.6 release.

Yes, that is a problem when having more than two files open and you lose track of the order where you are processing files.
A slight lighter/darker color or even a single pixel thick line above the tab is good.
