Here's my first try and doing a double exposure. I always loved the style and wanted to see if I could do it. Both underlying photos were taken by me and then edited in Affinity Photo. Comments and critique welcome!

    Good day!
I'm fairly new to the whole photography thing let along photo editing. I'm absolutely in love with Affinity and its ease of use and user interface. Anyways, here's a few random shots that I've done and edited with AP. Comments and critique welcome!

    You're welcome misguid3d.

I think they look nice as T-shirt designs. However, it might be good to see them overlaid onto some blank T-shirt images, just to get a better feel for how they would look in the real world.

Also, I've never had anything printed on clothing before but I imagine there might be issues with how the designs work when draped over an actual human form.

For example, the "Blackwood Sinners" version has a very wide logotype which would have to be seen in full across the chest (or back, depending on where it was printed) while the T-shirt was bring worn. This might mean that the whole thing would need to be shrunk to a point where some detail was lost. Also, the top "corner flourishes" (whatever the correct name is for them) might be warped in strange ways across the shoulders and therefore not match-up with the bottom "flourishes", if you see what I mean. It's a bit like designing a flat label to be wrapped onto a bottle; it might look great flat, but on the bottle it might look weird as the viewer can't see all of the label at once.

If you really want to model what something will look like in real life then you could look at something like http://www.makehuman.org/but that might be taking things a bit too far.

Like I said, I've never done this myself so I could easily be wrong. Maybe something to think about though.

P.S. I agree that those rodeo posters are really great. I'd have a big grin on my face all day if I created something that was even just a tenth as good.

After messing with photography, editing and a little bit of design work I finally got AD and I absolutely love it. I do a lot of marketing and design stuff for my band but there's a certain limit to what I can do before I have to source it out. I'm slowly finding my bearings and am looking forward to learning more and developing in the realm of an amateur graphic designer. Here's a couple of simple ones I recently did just to get a hand of a few techniques. Comments and criticism welcome!

I've been away from the camera for some time now, but last night I decided to revisit a photo I had produced late last year.  This was a 3-image HDR shot while vacationing in Northern California.  Processed in A.Photo... I was just playing around with some settings, nothing too serious.  I realized that I haven't had much time to play with the latest features in the app and I'm hoping to change that soon.

We finally had some good weather in my area a week ago, after months and months of cloud cover! These are Arrow Root flowers and they bloom by the thousands in my area. It's been so cold that the bloom is quite a bit later than it normally is.

    Nice.

I only recently purchased AD myself and, apart from it missing some features that would make a real difference, it's so much easier to use than some other software I've had to wrangle with.

I don't really have many comments but I would say that each one might look better with some kind of "gunge" background (unless there's a reason for the blank background). Or maybe, for the "Blackwood" one, a dark and/or blurred sepia photo background could do something? Might be worth a try as it's easy enough to do quickly in AD.

Also, the "social club" illustration might look better with a mix of fonts. Consider the rodeo examples here http://bobcoronato.com/prints-for-sale/where the artist has "gone nuts" but it works very well.

I'm looking forward to seeing more stuff like this as it might give me some inspiration for my experiments.

Enjoying your coffee mug composition. The bokeh bkgd you added really works for this image as it brings to mind something bursting with flavor. The steam vapor is transparent enough to let the bokeh be really effective where they coincide. Inspired!

    Hey guys!
New poster (and user) here! I've done some designs and have been messing around with the programs. Originally, being an amateur photographer I got Affinity Photo for editing and quickly realized the amazing uses I could do with it. I do a lot of design work for the band now, logos for tshirts and stickers, show posters... I recently downloaded the trial for Affinity Designer and man, am I ever impressed!!! I will be buying it as well.

Again, I'm still pretty new at this whole world and learning every day so take it east on me! Haha.. Constructive criticism is definitely welcome! Anyways, here is my first real crack at it. I designed our entire album packaging (cover, back and insert panels. Here is a picture of the cover done with Affinity Photo.

They look good! As a word of caution though, be careful of the typefaces you choose. The use of Papyrus (on the Blackwood Sinners poster) is almost considered an unforgivable sin in the design world. :P

There are a few areas in the type that could use some touching up, but not bad for some of your first pieces. The kerning between the AVA in AVAILABLE NOW especially (notice how there is an unusual amount of space between each letter?). Keep in mind, I'm saying these things as someone that's been in the field of design for a decade or so now. It's nothing I'd expect you to know without any formal training or anything.

With a little poking around online, you can find a pretty good amount of information on typography and how to improve the small things. Here's a couple quick little introduction articles: http://design.tutsplus.com/articles/a-20-minute-intro-to-typography-basics--psd-3326 and https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010/12/what-font-should-i-use-five-principles-for-choosing-and-using-typefaces/

Very nice work indeed! Your last piece (blackwood sinners) is possibly the best of all for me - I really like the white relief against the dark, textured background - very appealing and emotive :)
