dominik reacted to AdamW in Affinity Publisher Customer Beta - 1.9.0.874
Status: Beta
Purpose: Updates and Fixes
Requirements: Purchased Affinity Publisher
Windows Store: Not submitted
Download: Download
Auto-update: Available
Hi,
We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher Customer Beta 1.9.0.874 is now available as a download from the link above.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
This beta is significant update from the 1.8 version available for purchase - we strongly recommend that you do not use this beta for real work as data could be lost and the files you save are not guaranteed to open in previous or future versions of Affinity Publisher.

dominik got a reaction from Tom Lachecki in (Re)Testing Download Content In My Account
I checked this in AD and it lists what I believe is the packs that I have been given so far. I did not purchase and but some were part of a special offer.
After download they show up in the Pixel Persona, which seems correct. Among them are Frankentoon Texturizer - A ... D. Unfortunately they are listed not in alphabetical order due to the fact that they downloaded and installed in a different order. This is just a visual flaw but brings up the request to better organizing the brushes panel.
I also checked in APh and it behaved the same.

dominik reacted to Mark Ingram in Export TIF and JPG file extension (discussion split from 1.9.0.869 announcement)
I'll be honest, this isn't some massive discussion and then new direction we've decided to go on. It's actually a little oversight in bringing the multiple file extensions support in (the irony here was that users were complaining that we defaulted to ".tiff" but they wanted the option to name their files ".tif"). The new change means that we have a list of allowed extensions and the default extension is the first in the list, so we have ".tiff;.tif" and ".jpeg;.jpg", when previously we only had ".tiff" and ".jpg". So in order to bring some consistency with TIFF I put the "correct" JPEG extension first. At the risk of upsetting my OCD I may consider switching the order of ".jpeg" and ".jpg" around, or providing a preference to always default to 3 letter extensions.

May I kindly ask you not to shout or yell (by using capital letters) at the company who is hosting this forum. This is offensive. There are other ways to formulate critism. And it certainly does not speed up anything.

I completely agree with you... stealing is not fine... just as unfair pricing for non-professional end users that do not make any money using the software is not. If the price is reasonable I have no problems buying and supporting it. That's why I switched to Affinity.
Paying 438,96 € a year for PDF editing/viewing tool is just out of the picture for me and probably for most people that do not make money with it. That's where Affinity could come in and probably take a huge part of Adobe Acrobat market share.
But I do agree with you... as I said stealing is not fine and knowing that I'm a future to-be software developer it would definitely hurt the business, that's why I like to buy all the software that I regularly use/plan to use.
Here is my recent Affinity order for example:
I did not mean to break any rules so I truly am sorry for that 😅

Hi @Martin Ferenec,
We appreciate your feedback here regarding Affinity, many thanks for this!
We can't however allow your comments regarding pirating Adobe here, as we do not tolerate this - with the Affinity software or any other paid for software.
I have edited your above comment to remove this and I must ask that you refrain from such statements in the future if you wish to continue posting here.

dominik got a reaction from Mark Ingram in Linux support
Hello @Bog and welcome to the forum.
Since you are new here you may not have noticed that there is an extensive and constantly active discussion about Linux support over at the Affinity Suite forum. There alone are more than three threads with currently 56, 32 and 14 pages of discussion (a total of almost 2500 postings). I kindly suggest you (and anyone else) to join the discussion over there instead of continuing this thread in this forum here.

dominik got a reaction from SaltyClownShoes in Ever Changing Save File Size
I doubt that fonts that are not at all referenced in a document are showing up as missing. It may be that a document that has a longer history of creation stages (e.g. import parts of Word documents or copy and paste from the internet) may have strange 'traces'. One way to get rid of these (at least with a test document) is to copy the entire text into a plain text editor and copy and paste it back in. This will erase all formatting information but will cause a major rework of the layout.
One other thing you can do is to use 'Find and Replace' from the Studio. The little cog icon top right of the search field lets you open a 'Choose Format' dialogue. There you select in the Font section 'Missing' from the dropdown. This finds all occurences of missing fonts.

Hi @SaltyClownShoes,
check out the Preflight panel. It should also help with missing fonts.
