  1. Hello @TomSmith I really like the mood and composition of your image however the eye usually, in the first instance, goes to the brightest part (highlights). In your image there's just nothing in the cloud highlights ... blank! zero! ... histogram right side clipped! Does your raw/original image have detail/density in this area? If so bring it in! ... and make it work
  2. Beautiful image ... Kind of reminds me of my last (and now deceased) dog ... I miss him—Here in his prime!
  3. Slightly off topic: Peter Jackson's new project will be using similar restoration techniques as They Shall Not Grow Old
  4. Yes it does! ... Not that I've used it in a very long time I checked for both of us and yeah, it does the business and returns the corrected image back into APh without issues.
  5. Agreed ... for the UK and also (down under) in the colonies Maybe not so for Finland though? I'm curious to learn more about colour association etc in Finland (Scandinavia generally).
  6. ... Should be the same for Mac #1 Check 'Show all graphic formats' #2 Uncheck the three boxes in Exclude if you want to be able to view .svg, xml etc
  7. Oh, it's more likely to be some issue on my Windows 10. The font is not, and never has been, available to me in any of the apps I use. It just doesn't appear in the font lists. As the saying goes 'One doesn't miss what one has never had'
  8. Thought I'd jump in with my 10 cents worth here. My version of MainType (Pro 7.0) doesn't like Bahnschrift one little bit and consistently wants to remove it from the registry. The error being—Installed, but not loaded. From what I understand it's a system font that's pertains to Windows 10. Assumably it's broken and Microsoft can't be bothered fixing it! It can't be uninstalled.
  9. Thought I'd upload a screenshot that proves XnViewMP can read both .afphoto and .afdesign. As mentioned double clicking on the thumbnail opens another screen that shows a larger than thumbnail size image but much less than the full file size (by measurement when zoomed). As far as I'm concerned XnViewMP will do just fine until Serif release their own DAM. I have no idea if XnViewMP will be able to read .afpub files—it can't as yet.
  10. Also, if you want to view .svg, html, xml etc uncheck the three boxes in 'Exclude'. As per this screenshot.
  11. @HarryBH I'm on Windows however it may be the same for Mac ... as per screenshot check 'Show all graphic formats'. Note the full screen APh image (by double clicking the thumbnail) will be at screen, not full resolution. Edit: XnViewMP also reads .afdesign files as well
  12. Cool! We here in the southern colonies can only dream about a white Christmas
  13. [emoji for jaw drop] Down here in Oz the 100s is $675 and the 10s $90 more. The Oz $ is currently about US .71 cents. Those prices btw are less than Canon's RRP on their website (Canon have the 10s listed at $949)..
  14. ...Have bookmarked this topic, however not fully read as yet. I'm looking at buying the Pro 10s instead of the 100s (as it uses pigment inks ... archival apparently!). Hhmm, haven't put my money down as yet (so to speak) ...
  15. Yeah, my bad. Without checking in APh I was thinking of PS Output Levels which moves to the right! Your definition of muddy is somewhat different to my experience. Considering I pro worked in technical, medical, performance photography as well as a decade of pro printing in a trad dardroom I've learnt something new. Thankyou!
  16. Other than the shallow depth of field (low F stop) it's not so much as being 'creamy' ... the image is underexposed. The blacks are muddy (ie empty, weak, not strong with detail). Compare the blacks in your posted image to the one @Fixx posted. If you want that look pull back your blacks ... 1) Levels—move the shadow slider a little to the right or 2) Curves—move the bottom left node slightly upwards. Back in the film days this was quite common with high ISO film that just didn't have enough exposure—Believe me, I used to shoot a lot of stage plays To emulate that look try ISO1600 and above... Edit: On second thoughts try ISO 400 - 800 and add a bit of film grain (you don't want digital noise).
  17. I really like the movement of the second to bottom image (that and the gritty urban feel). For me, the movement of the band members toward each other indicates energy and eventual collision creating a nucleus ... after all this is a group and as well music, by its nature, is not static. If you're not already aware of this book check it out. If you can get into it I'm quite certain you'll be taking bigger creative steps/growth with your art.
  18. In Designer on Windows regardless of the tool selected (except for the Place Image Tool) holding down alt and clicking on the rulers (both X & Y) guides can be placed. If the canvas/document is magnified it, of course, makes for quick precise placement. In APh and APub guides can be placed this way as well however it'll only work with the Move tool (as far as I'm aware). I have no idea if this is the same for Mac
  19. Until Serif releases their DAM—XnView MP is the best offer that reads both .afphoto and .afdesign for Windows and presumably Mac ... and of course as it's open source—no cost! Double click the thumbnail for the full screen (open in separate window). Ironically it currently doesn't read Gimp 2.10 files!
