https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98920-faq-net-and-affinity-apps/oder an der Grafikkarte;
Es bräuchte mehr Informationen was in dem 5ten Rechner an Hardware verbaut ist, wie dieser konfiguriert ist, welche Treiber sind Installiert usw.

At that time they may drop some of the lagy formats like .TGA or .HDR.
Who needs these formats ??

Those files are for example used when creating video games and 3D Artworks.

You need to get knowledge about how the printer works on which it gets printed, what kind of paper (size) it gets fed.
In the mentioned tutorial, the tutorial maker assumes that A4 paper is used in the printer and therefore uses an A4 preset.
Font handling; when exporting, you can click on the More... button and decide how the fonts will be exported.
Exporting as curves is the securest way(since its vectorized) but editing the text with the text tool is not possible. Embedding the fonts can be of course done too.here is an preview how the file looks like when I would want to print it at home onto an A4 Paper.
out of curiosity, are those transparent pixels in your files meant as cut markers?

@HoneyK
There are plans to add more support for 3D artists.Quote(I have two documents open here - you can see the texture itself, the other document is the normal map - both are being edited and a realtime preview is being rendered on a .obj model in the new Model panel).
Thanks,
Andy. -
An alternative for font handling on windows would be eagle.cool, it installs fonts into the system folder which then instantly gets recognized in all Affinity programs, removal/deactivation works too.

Hello to both of you @Kuso77 @kirk23
all good here, the mentioned workflow is compared to before a step up,please do share your workflows in the future.
Thanks to both of you and also for the visual explanation in combination with the helpfile.
Its always amazing to see visual explanations for program for visual tasks.

- Fixed crash when dragging Unsplash images from panel when Unsplash is returning errors
Unsplash doesn´t crash but it doesn´t load the images either.
-
EDIT; Its an interesting approach for RGB packing.
The same problems in previewing and editing the alpha channel and comfortably working with RGBA files is still persisting. -

@kirk23 Have you tried the latest version of 1.9? I'm able to channel pack super easy. stage, but editing each (RGBA) channel in greyscale and exporting it as an RGBA targa works great, imho.
with such claims, please make a video or a couple gifs about it, please enlighten me visually how easy it is.
-
@Kuso77could you please link to a video or make one to show how it works?
Edit ; in another forum post/thread is detailed how that feature you described is still awkward/impossible for channel packing.

my quick take which only takes a couple seconds
would be to use a Threshold Adjustment set to divide,
> the result needs to be turned to its own image via right click, Merge Visible,
>set this layer again to divide
>disable the Threshold Layer.
Now you have separated the stained and aged parts from the numerals and could use both in different projects (or to fake and reuse the antique look with different/available numerals..)
Automatic Results might not be to your liking so this would now take a bit more time than the couple seconds before since we would now erase the errors by hand.
For the above result of the background,I selected the white areas, used inpainting and then to further enhance the result, the inpainting brush tool to edit it out a bit more.
For the numerals;
If you want to edit the opacity (on areas which where mistakenly erased from the numerals) paint with white on the washed out divider layer, its interpreted as an alpha due to the divider.
To mask it further out, add another paint layer(Layer setting set to divide) but now paint with black colour to edit out the unwanted black areas on the white background.
To get the uneven colouring out, crush the colours to full black;
Add a Curve Adjustment and set it to LAB, edit the Lightness, keep the curve but add one point in the middle and set its XY to the following X 1 and its Y0.
If you would like to vectorize the pixel result, you could jump to for example inkscape and have it vectorised.
Optional and for a different purpose; If you want to enhance and keep the aging on the numerals, use an unsharp mask. -
There are multiple ways of changing DPI, best to read the help (F1) from Affinity.
There is for example one way without resampling*, then there are Resampling settings like Lanczos 3 which can do a lot in keeping details.
Another thing for scaling up images (but not dpi) is under Document >Rezize Pixel Art Document- From the Document menu, select Resize Document.
- Ensure the Resample option is switched off.
- Change the DPI to control the number of pixels (dots) which will be printed per inch when your document is printed. Set higher values (e.g., 300dpi) for professional printing.
- Click Resize.
- You will see no change in the image on the page as this procedure only affects the image's metadata.

woha neat.
It might be possible to switch back from Warp to the GPU now since it would trigger the GPU again.
The Customer Betas (Release candidate 2) should be much faster for Windows systems than the older versions, there is an Hardware acceleration option to enable OpenCL compute acceleration and there is a benchmark tool integrated which resides under Help and then Benchmark.- Lurri90 and anwstudiosllc

I would check that the Renderer in Preferences of Affinity Photo is set to the GPU.
Next thing would be to reinstall drivers, even if its the same brand, changing and upgrading the GPU should always be accompanied with reinstalling the drivers.- Lurri90 and anwstudiosllc

telemax, I am not sure what that adjustment is meant to do. Does make colors appear as a color blind person would see color. Or is it a correction adjustment to the colors.
Thanks for pointing that out. I will research the adjustment further.
There are for each of those weaknesses* two presets available.
Simulate ; how it looks like for those which have those colour seeing weaknesses.
Daltonize ; adjusting the image so the colours can be perceived as "normal" by those which need it overblown to overcome their colour seeing deficiency.

Didn't Steam drop one of the major distros of Linux as well last year?
Ubuntu (losing favor and momentum) was dropped due to disallowing 32-bit software/games to run on 64-bit machines.
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2019/06/steam-announces-that-its-dropping-support-for-ubuntu
Linux itself is important for Valve, for example to prevent further expansions of things like
Windows 10 S Mode which only allows apps and games from Microsoft Store to be installed. -
Hello Fritz_H,
a misunderstanding can sadly happen when the thread title does not exactly correspond with what the topic is about.
If you had written Smartphone images from Samsung are imported incorrectly as a thread title, many others could have added to your findings.Thank you for reporting it, its affecting more smartphone models from Samsung besides your Galaxy 31.
Bug reporting is complicated, we all want to keep human errors as minimal as possible and that can only happen with clear reports.
Think of developers like Dschinns 😉, try to be as exact as you can when reporting bugs and write minimal steps to reproduce the errors.
Edit;
The initial topic of yours back in 2019 was about images from cameras.
The newer topic is about Smartphone images.
It might be the same bug (Image rotation fails with recognition of flags ) from the standpoint of a developer, but from a consumer viewpoint, the source of error seems to stem from different devices which would in my opinion deserve a unique posting. -

I am a Adobe user and I was thinking about switching to affinity. What are the plus sides of this when compared to photoshop? Is this a one time payment?
Please so get back to me.
Thanking You,
Jacob Eapen
Affinity Photo is a "one time payment" in the sense of you pay only once for version 1.Xx and all its little updates.
A release of 2.x called an upgrade will cost money.my favorites so far;
- Quicker start of the program.
- easy way of switching the language without having to reinstall everything.
- Affinity Photo has had live filters first, being able to preview layer changes instantly without having to apply them is also a feature I love.
- OpenColorIO support, 32bit editing and EXR image editing are straight there, even thou there is still a bit of room for improvements and feature additions.
- Being able to have 8129 Undo/history steps and also being able to include them in your saved file, good for improving efficiency and teaching certain workflows to others.
-
thanks for the valuable information, you are of course right.
minimum Hardware and OS build requirement are met. My confusion must have stemmed from the newer Windows 10 -19042 release which came out a while ago. -

Hello,
What does this improvement do? Thank you for your explanations.
it enables GPU acceleration by default, after install, the first start its activated.
Some tasks are multiple times faster than without, to get a glimpse on how much faster it can be, look into the benchmark thread.I use a slightly older win10 version and the newest beta versions with enabled GPU acceleration works flawlessly.
Due to the older windows installation, I had to go to the preferences to activate it manually. -
If you have alongside your GPU a CPU with an integrated "GPU" (APU called), you might have to disable it in your bios.
Assigning in your Graphics settings all resources to Affinity Photo might help as well.The file opens on my pc even thou I use an unrecommend slightly older Windows version.

Hello you two 😀, please read the guidelines for posting on this forum.
In the Briefly section at the top most, rule 3;QuoteThis is a tech forum for like-minded creative individuals using Affinity apps. Please keep conversations on topic - this isn’t the place to talk politics, or last night’s footie score.

This Thread might already be seen as "controversial enough" since there is discussions on how the competition is moving and how it might affect the Serif Team, the Affinity Suite customers and the development of other software developers along their respective customers.
*Edit ; Just writing as a concerned forum user and customer who wants to keep the current good level of freedom in regards on what we can discuss. -
Hello InfaRed,
just in case you didn´t know, there is a standalone solution from Nvidia available for mipmapping and BC1-BC7 compression,
it is called NVIDIA Texture Tools Exporter.
The Photoshop plugin (incompatible with Affinity Photo since its a *.8bi file format) is not needed for the standalone to work.
https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-exporter
create a developer account, download and have fun.There is also a Legacy version (from 2013) available of the initial Texture tools which allows partial support for the usage from Affinity Photo since it uses a *.8bf file.
https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload#?dn=texture-tools-for-adobe-photoshop-8-55I would strongly recommend the newest solution the first link (Standalone version) which was first released around march 2020.
