Probably on my top 10 most used features in Illustrator is the stroke width tool, which allows you to adjust the width of the stroke at each anchor point.  This can somewhat be achieved using the Pressure tab within the pen line settings, but it isn't nearly as precise.

A couple of solutions might be:
Add a stroke width tool to allow anchor points to be adjusted. Within the pressure panel, display a point on the graph for every anchor point from the shape.  And allow these to be adjusted only vertically on the graph by holding shift, so that they stay on the anchor points. Create a new panel in the pen menu that allows for a numerical value to be entered in for stroke width.
    Thanks for listening.

    Hi,

I'd like to request a feature that would allow me to add nodes directly between existing nodes on a shape, similar to how Illustrator's "Add Anchor Points" tool works.

I think this could be even better if you could select which nodes you want to add nodes between, rather than this only working for the entire shape.

For example, if I have a circle with 4 nodes, and I select the top and left nodes and use this tool, it would add a single node evenly spaced between the two on the existing path at the top-left of the circle (see screenshot).  If I select the entire shape, it would add 4 nodes, one between each connecting pair.

    Thanks!

Here's an example where a little bit more control over stroke width would be extremely useful.  I think simply having handles for the anchor points within the pressure panel would allow for more control of the smoothness/sharpness of the width.

There is a natural curve added to the segments, but when the points get too close, or there is too dramatic of a change in pressure, they lose the curvature, and the stroke width changes abruptly.

Another note on the topic of using the pressure slider, it would be nice to be able to control the anchor points with more precision (handles on the anchor points).

    Hey retrograde,

Yeah, I've tried this, and I do think it's a good alternative to the feature request.  One of my suggestions was to take the anchor points from your shape, and plot those as "points or nodes" within the pressure panel.  The only real issue I see with using only the pressure panel is that the longer your line segment becomes, the harder it is to fine tune the stroke widths. Other than that, it's a very nice tool.

When setting up a layout grid in my Master pages, it's super handy to be able to say "Make my margins this size, and within the remaining working space, separate into X columns with a gutter of Y". I've attached the setup and window in InDesign as an example (orange) to compare to Publisher (purple).
In Publisher, it's currently only possible to set margins - everything else I have to set up manually with the Guide Manager. Any chance the ability to set columns & gutters as part of the margins settings will be future feature?

nametag got a reaction from Fettiemettie in Bezier Handles - Snap to 45° and 90° angles
Working with the pen tool, I've noticed that there is no way to snap the bezier handles to 45° and 90° angles once the node has been placed. Normally, this would be done by holding down the shift key while moving the bezier handle.  In Affinity designer, this locks the handle to the angle it was last placed at.

My suggestion would be to keep the current behavior,  but add an alternate keyboard shortcut that will lock the bezier handles to 45° and 90° (and possibly other) angles. Could be CMD + DRAG, CMD + SHIFT + DRAG, etc..

    Thanks!
