NathanC got a reaction from Hangman in Global Colors in Swatches Issues
I was getting some deja vu when writing it up and i've now found it internally, thanks! I'll get the original updated to reflect that it's still outstanding in V2 and will hopefully get some attention on it.

NathanC got a reaction from Pšenda in Transform origin usage during scaling/ resizing
Thanks @Pšenda I've now logged this with regard to the status bar tip not changing and will let the docs team know.

NathanC reacted to Rick Kelly in Anyone else having an issue with Affinity Photo Crashing on File Open?
I will try all of that stuff. I figures that right after I report this, I don't have another single issue. That happened to me with something else. I guess you guys scare it into working.

NathanC reacted to Pšenda in Transform origin usage during scaling/ resizing
Hi @NathanC, It would be good to mention this in the Help, and also fix it in the Status bar - even if Transform Origin is enabled, and resizing with the Ctrl key will be done around it, so it says "around the centre", not "around the Transform Origin".
Edit Help: it can be found there with a little searching (although it would be better to use an unambiguous label with capital letters - Transform Origin),
but some comprehensive and more detailed description of the Transform Origin switch would certainly be useful.
The current description is not very accurate.

NathanC got a reaction from RBeci in Transform origin usage during scaling/ resizing
Hi @RBeci,
Do you have access to Designer 2? The Point transform tool is capable of this, but it is a designer exclusive feature.

NathanC got a reaction from RBeci in Transform origin usage during scaling/ resizing
As it's more of a vector oriented transformation tool it's an exclusive feature to Designer 2 so it's not available in Photo 2 (It's also in Publisher's Designer Persona) 🙂

NathanC got a reaction from Mainecoon364 in Affinity Designer Ipad v1 - I Can’t Snap To The Corner Of The Page
The 'snap to spread' setting works off of the bounds of the whole group rather than the individual curves inside it, in the recording below I've just adjusted the horizontal and vertical groups separately to match them up from the top left hand edge of the canvas. Though, as some of the grid stroke lengths are not equal and do not extend as far as the canvas edge these will need manually adjusting. For simplicity I disabled all snapping options except for 'snap to spread'. The 2x2cm grid spacing is retained.

NathanC got a reaction from Paul Mudditt in Can I add Affinity Photo to Apple Photos editing options?
Hi @Affinity-Inspiration
This 'Options' dialog in the Apple Photos editor displays Apps that have a dedicated Photos Edit extension, which Affinity doesn't currently support on iOS. This was posted as a feature request a fair few years ago, and on the thread Paul M has detailed an alternative method using the 'Shortcuts' app to create an app launch shortcut which can be used in Photos.

NathanC got a reaction from Gigatronix Pete in The hardness option has become greyed out on my erase brush tool
Hi @Gigatronix Pete,
Image/Image Intensity based brushes cannot have their hardness adjusted so the slider is locked, if you switch to a Basic Round brush type you'll find that the hardness slider becomes active as Paul mentioned.

Looks like a Windows only bug with Arrow decorations, i'll get this logged.
Thanks

NathanC reacted to loukash in Can I add Affinity Photo to Apple Photos editing options?
My impression of this whole Shortcuts thing is that someone at Apple had a look at the Mac Automator app and thought:
"How can we make it even more confusing for iOS users, and then annoy the Mac users with it as well?!"
Well, "mission accomplished" as far as I'm concerned…

NathanC got a reaction from Mainecoon364 in Affinity Designer v1 - I Can Not Snap And The Object Exceeds Through The Other Object
You've got the snapping options set to a Candidate list which limits the number of objects available for snapping. In the Snapping options set the 'Candidates' dropdown at the top left hand corner to 'All layers' and then try it again. 🙂

NathanC got a reaction from AvdB-Netherlands in Waarom onthoudt Affinity Publisher de Nederlandse spellingcontrole niet?
Hi @AvdB-Netherlands,
The Settings > Autocorrect language dropdown is for managing the auto text replacements per spelling dictionary rather than setting the app language. If you want to change the spelling language of your text frames, you can do so via the 'Character' panel (Window > Text > Character) under the 'Language' tab. With the text frame tool and no text frame selected, you can default the text frame language going forward to Dutch by first changing the language in the dropdown and then going to Edit > Defaults > Save.
This will not retrospectively change the spelling language of existing text frames in a document, you'll need to select the text frame(s) and then change the existing spelling language assigned to them. One way you can quickly do this is via Select > Select Object > Text frame to highlight all the text frames, and then change the language, and then repeat for art text if required.

NathanC got a reaction from Affinityconfusesme in The inpainting brush in Affinity Photo 2.3 glitches if used too quickly
Many thanks for the recording, it looks like there's a small window of opportunity for this to happen when you finish inpainting and let go of LMB, but then just before the loading bar appears you click to inpaint again, it then finishes loading the first inpaint before 'catching up' and then doing second one, at which point it fails to detect the inpaint position correctly as you say.
I can get this to fail intermittently, i've now logged it with the developers.

NathanC got a reaction from Hangman in Error in PDF output
Good spot, not sure why I neglected to expand the picture frames to check the nested contents originally. However, i'm not sure this is specific to just an unsharp masks/filters? The presence of the adjustment and/or filter layers nested into the frames flattens the image to the Doc DPI, and removing the unsharp mask on the frame prevents this, however if there are other nested adjustments present such as the selective colour adjustment on the top left image of page 2 the image still gets flattened to whole pixels, altering it's position on the page.
I've attached two versions of the original PDF below exported using the standard 'for export' present, one with only the unsharp mask filters deleted and the other with all nested adjustments and filters deleted, the edge alignment of the PDF with the unsharp mask deleted still has the corner alignment slightly off on Page 2 between the top left and bottom middle image, which I can only assume is a result of the image flatten and rounding, while comparatively this isn't a problem in the PDF with all adjustments/filters removed.
Have to zoom in really far in acrobat to see, as it's literally about a pixel's difference.
PDF for export - no unsharp mask or adjustment layers.pdf PDF for export - no unsharp mask.pdf

Confirmed while using the Font Picker on the Context Toolbar in Designer 2.3.1.
Home key – Go to start of list – Correct
End key – Go to end of list – Correct
Page Down key – Go to next page – Correct
Page Up key – Go to start of list – Unexpected
Same result obtained using different Page Up key.
Same result obtained while using the Font Picker in the Character Panel.
Same results obtained in Publisher 2.3.1.
Not getting the same result in Publisher when using the drop-down in the Edit Text Style dialog.

NathanC got a reaction from regedy1 in Affinity Designer 2.3.1 - Vector Brush delay / lag
Hi @regedy1,
Textured vector brushes such as the 'Ink' brushes shown in your recording are essentially a raster image stretched along a vector path, and the resolution of the base texture used for the brushes can greatly influence the draw speed on the canvas, many of these 'ink' brushes use a 4000px texture such as those shown in your recording, but if you compare it to a much simpler texture such as the 'Simple Ink' brush at the top of the category it has a significantly smaller 1000px texture and it should have a quicker draw speed on the canvas.
I found that on these 'Ink' brushes setting the head offset to 0px so the entire length was used resulted in a better experience, particularly for smaller strokes, but you could also opt to increase/reduce both offsets respectively to reduce the total texture length improved performance, but impacted the quality.
Also, on Desktop ensure that your display renderer is set to 'Metal' and try toggling Hardware Acceleration on if it isn't already under Settings > Performance.

I could have called this Many hands (and feet) make light work. We're all getting browned off with Artificial Intelligence stealing copyright works. I thought it was time I made a stand and made my own AI image. In this case, it probably means Astonishing Inaccuracies.
