just have a small project that I want to do in designer and for the consistents I need some Guides, Margins, bleeds, columns. Nice all there, but when I want to see how the Layout looks like without all the lines there no way to hide them in one step.
In Publisher is a Preview Mode, why not in designer?

I understand that Serif is trying to differentiate between its different apps for things that rightly belong to one app or another, but I keep feeling like preview mode should not be one of them. Forget Publisher for a moment: if things like guides, margins, and bleed rightfully belong in Designer, then so does the need to be able to turn off display of these interface elements to see a clean preview of a finished design. I fail to understand how a preview mode is more relevant in Publisher than in Designer.
For folks like me who have also purchased Publisher, the lack of this feature that has already implemented seems like an annoying arbitrary limitation that forces one to unnecessarily open up Publisher just to see a preview, even when Designer is the natural choice for the project at hand.
For folks who only have Designer because they only work on the kind of documents that Designer is best suited for, do they have no need of a preview mode at all? For example, is it useless in designing vector artwork? I think not.

I also just writing here to support several replies above. Having the artboard exported is very unintuitive. There should be at least an option to export in reverse order. 
Saying this due to the programming is just lame. Word start with page1 by default even if I am pretty sure the underline code count starting at 0. This is a UX problem, not a programing problem.
I am very disappointed this has been an issue for 7 years! without any improvement from the developer team, even at version 2!

I'm working on little program that will handle backing up and also syncing workspaces (from standalone apps to Publisher). Will post about it on forums when it's ready

Sorry, we are focussing our efforts on a major release (new features and fixes) and consequently have not done any minor patches for a long time, as you say. But no not dead.

I also miss this option with alt to copy an drag a layer for a fluid workflow, any news here?

As per the above, this is unfortunately not a bug within the applications - however I can certainly understand the frustration caused with this workflow, so I'll be moving this thread to the feedback section of the forums for our devs to see and consider

Ok, that's a bit borderline if that's a bug, for me in Professional workflow it is.
I have a book with 130 images, initially layouted with OPI images (jpg). Now the prepress sends me the final fine data as tiff. In Indesign this would not be a problem, in Publisher it can no longer assign these files when I specify the new folder as source, although size ect. is positioned correctly (fortunately) when replace individually. Now I have to pick out 130 images completely individually and update them individually? That should not be so.

@3joern Your advice on cleaning the Font Cache solved the problem! I'm still trying to figure it out why or what relationship one thing have with the other, but for some reason everything is working fine! After the restart I recorded a short video and you can see how great it works!

Deine beiden Dateien "Fensterdekorfolie_filomenal" enthalten die Sonderfarbe wie von dir beschrieben als "weiss" benannt, in deinem exportierten PDF auch dann, wenn ich dieses in APub öffne. Ich sehe insofern nicht, welches Problem du genau hast, bzw. warum du den Screenshot der Dokument-Farb-Einstellungen zeigst.


Hinweise:
• Die Buttons "Umwandeln" und "Zuweisen" sind nur bei einer Änderung der Dokumentfarbeinstellungen wirksam, sie sind nicht rückwirkend aktivierbar. Dabei ist "Umwandeln" die Standard-Einstellung in APub.
• In deiner .afpub Datei ist die Sonderfarbe "weiss" als überdruckend definiert, dadurch werden Farben, die darunter gedruckt werden, mit der Sonderfarbe gemischt (was eventuell nicht gewünscht ist). Daher zeigt jetzt ein Export deines APub-Dokuments zusätzlich die darunter liegenden CMYK Farben.
• Bitte beachte auch, dass dieses Forum für Programm-Fehler ist. Für Fragen zur Benutzung der Programme ist das Forum "Affinity Support & Questions"–> "Affinity on Desktop Questions (Mac and Windows)". Dort gibt es bereits diverse Topics zu Einrichtung bzw. Export von Spot Colours, z.B.:

I can confirm that the helpfile for the application should list all active keyboard shortcuts, however currently when editing Keyboard Shortcuts in the app directly, you're only able to add custom settings to options that appear within the top menus. For example if you open the View menu from the top bar, you'll see all of the options here can have custom keyboard shortcuts applied, and as the shortcuts you've highlighted in the help file don't exist within this menu, you can't set a custom shortcut for these actions.
I'll be sure to pass your feedback through to our team here, to see if this is something we can allow user control over in the future.

Affinity/Serif, please hire an professional ergonomist who is familiar with Interface usability and user logic. This is not a job for programmers. 
The thing with the page export in reverse order, because the artboards are always inserted at the top of the page, although they are then automatically inserted from left to right, is completely confusing. Sorry too many WTF moments lately with Affinity Designer. On so many levels such a great tool but then so many teething troubles which are really annoying.

In Affinity, the Superscript and Subscript settings in Typography require support from the font that you're using. When the font does not provide that support, you need to use the Superscript and Subscript settings in Positioning and Transform, rather than the settings in Typography:

+1 for this. Would be very handy. Also handy would be the much asked for Resources as a Panel.

I have a Publisher 1.10.4 document with multiple fullsize images.
For preview purposes, I want to export a single page as a PNG file (or any other export format) with reduced size.
I open the “Export” dialogue, change the desired sizes, and click “Current page only” — and the sizes are reset to the document dimensions.
As the size fields are on top of the range selector, I would expect to keep the user's dimensions.

This is a known bug and they are working on it.

Hi, yesterday I had the "pleasure" of setting tables over several pages. With Indesign I would be done in 5 minutes, but I convinced my editor aka client to try it with Publisher, because his Indesign is too old for an architecture book with 144 pages.
I almost swept my computer off the table. It was an absolute gamble until I got the table style right. After it all fit and I set another table and wanted to apply the style, the presentation was different again. Besides, you can't let tables flow to the next page.
Also, the presentation of how to set a table style is extremely incomprehensible. 
As a suggestion, it would be better to design the border if you could select the lines in the left-hand area of the example table and if you had a real WYSIWYG there (line widths, colours, areas, etc.). If you choose "Apply selection" you don't see much of the result, because the selection in the layout covers everything. You always have to leave the menu to see the final result, which is very tedious. Also copy and paste a style/cell/row would make things easier. The + and - also not on the right place. The colum "+" add a row (in my point of view). Simply too many ambiguous and non-intuitive possibilities. Make the Applikation for Designers, not Developer   for this really simple table I needed 4h and many grey hairs.

We’re just in the process of evaluating Affinity Publisher (tested with 1.7.0.305 and 1.7.0.312) and we’ve come upon a problem with the PDF/X export:
In our workflow our print PDF files are checked in Adobe Acrobat against the preflight profile PDFX-ready Sheetfed Offset Classic HQ V1.5. Among other things this profile checks the MD5 checksums of the used ICC profile against a pre-defined list of profiles known to be appropriate for offset printing.
When exporting a PDF as PDF/X-1a with the ICC profile ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) from Affinity Publisher the preflight returns this error:
Looking at the preflight report in the section Output Intents I noticed a difference between a PDF exported from InDesign and Affinity Publisher:
The Output Intent is stated as ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) for the InDesign-PDF and as ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) (Custom) for Affinity Publisher The Color Management Module had a value of HDM (InDesign) and lcms (Affinity Publisher). Primäre Zielplattform (in English probably: Primary Target Platform): empty (InDesign) and Apple Computer, Inc. (APPL) (Affinity Publisher) Profil erstellt mit (in English probably: Profile created with): Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HDM ) (InDesign) and lcms (Affinity Publisher) The other fields were the same in both files. So I suspected this to be the reason for the different MD5 checksums. But not being an expert on the ins and outs of PDFs and colour management I turned to HilfDirSelbst.ch where we discussed this (in German) in this thread. This is still strange to me, after several months. Designer is a vector editing program. There are even paper size presets available in new document window.
So that means that, probably, some of the people may want to actually print their work, print their artboards.
Being able to visually control the bleed area before the export is crucial. But it is not working with artboards.
I believe that artboards, just as pages in Publisher, should receive the ability to display the bleed area around them.
So they shouldn't be always strictly clipped to their own bounds if any bleed is applied to them.
So, definitely it's a bug. If it is done intentionally by design, then it is a very serious design flaw.

So are you gonna mark this as bug, or should I uninstall this and move back to Illustrator? I need a TIFF with bleed, and it won't export. JPEG bleed is also white.. WTF?
It's SUCH A PITY I've invested hours into learning this app, instead of AI... Now I have to invest hours into learning that too. How can I do my work and make my $ with this app when I can't do simple things like a bleed export.. Don't tell me the option is there in export persona, to simply export extra white pixels..
Edit: Happening with Artboards only. A 2018 thread was found with this issue. Fixed back then, seems to be back now. please PLEASE fix bleeds as they are important for printing.

I also support the wish to drop copies in the layer stack with Alt+Drag. Using Ctrl+J isn't equally powerful as this only spits out a silly duplicate.
Alt+Drag combines duplicating and placing the copy exactly where needed. Using that method inside Photoshop one can quickly create any number of copies of layers,
masks, adjustment layers as well as layer-fx and place them all in one go.

If one has a layer in Photo which has three layer-fx (say colour overlay, drop shadow and outline) – is there currently at all a way to only copy the drop shadow of that layer
to another element?

As Photoshop shows assigned fx in a stack one can grab each of them like any other element – that's very useful. I have no idea how to do the same thing inside Photo.

I think that there is a bug which causes Affinity Designer to be stuck with Show Special Characters = On for all the various files it opens until it is restarted and has no special-characters-turned-on file open.
